  • Okay, just an idea. I am a big girl with cottage cheese thighs.... What I wear to the pool for the bottoms are actually exercise shorts that go 3/4 the way down the thigh but are form fitting and made of the same or similar material to the swimsuit. It also doesn't look half bad and I feel more comfortable around people in…
  • I take plaquenil 200mg twice daily, arava 20mg daily, methotrexate 25mg weekly by injection, and rituxan infusions every 4 months. Really, the medications side effects for me are pain relief. If the methotrexate causes you nausea or diarrhea then I would ask for the injectable. Good luck and feel better. Theresa
  • You also can't lose weight while on pred. So don't try eating less than usual as it will not help. Take your meds and stay off the scale for at least 2 weeks. Theresa
  • You don't starve yourself to lose weight. All you lose is muscle, healthy muscle and no fat. I don't know your weight but I am 230 and I consume about 2300 calories with exercise on a daily basis to lose nearly 2 lbs a week.
  • Try adding a glass of orange juice a day and a banana a day. Make sure you are drinking your allotted water and then some. Stay away from artificially flavored/sweetened drinks. Also, nearly 80% of americans are Vitamin D deficient. Until you are tested on this I would drink your whole milk and vitamin C/D fortified…
  • The changes I have seen in my body since strength training is amazing. However, I am still 240 lbs. I was aiming for 145 but by the looks of thing I think a strong 180 might be where I am heading. I have a large bust and large hips but a 37 inch waist and big legs. I see myself now as overweight but not obese.... and I…
  • I am currently eating 1700 calories and eating my exercise calories to my net BMR. I was eating 2100 calories (did this for 4 weeks) I still only ate if under BMR at net, but it wasn't giving me weight loss results at all. However, I did lose inches with this too. I guess I just need to suck it up and see where this goes.…
  • Thanks a lot em... I think what was happening on the 2100 was that I was pretty much full or tired of eating food by a certain point so then I would add a sugary drink or something sweet to fill the gap and make it 2100. I feel that this will suit me better without worrying about whether I ate enough calories for the day…
  • I had subway hashbrowns couldn't help it. Bacon flavored lollipop really? Right now even that sounds good.
  • MFP gives me 1430 but that is below my BMR and not ideal. So, I tried eating for the weight person I am going to be (2100) but wasn't losing much even though my exercise level is pretty high. Somewhere there must be a happy medium without the stress of not seeing any changes. You all are a great help!
  • Right I haven't been eating my exercise calories back actually with the 2100 TDEE but it just seems too slow for me. I am hoping for 1-2lb weight loss at my size still. Now I have been gaining muscle but not enough to account for such a slow drop. Thank you so much for your input. I am going to aim for 1800 and only eat…
  • In my opinion it is cheating or like someone else had said it will likely lead to it. My husband did this to me while I was pregnant with his son. I confronted him about it and he said it was all innocent (yah right). Well, suffice to say he also searched for women in our hometown and eventually was caught with his pants…
  • From the looks of your diary you aren't taking in enough calories. Which in turn leads to inadequate nutrition. Try to net 1600 for a few weeks and see if this brings your back to a normal balance. Only time I get cold (I am always hot by the way) is when I don't eat enough and exercise without proper nutrition. Theresa
  • My dad was an obstetrician and he had said that if you are overweight there is no reason to gain weight while pregnant. You eat what you should eat (healthy, protein, veggies) and you won't end up gaining but just the baby weight alone. He delivered thousands of healthy babies before he passed away. You aren't really…
  • I have been mostly gluten free for the past 3 months. I may falter from time to time. What I did notice was an decrease in abdominal bloating, more energy, and yes, less pain. I did this because it was my only other option at the time as I could no longer afford my treatments. Normally when I go off of meds I am…
  • 2100-2300 calories
  • Well, I started at 296 in January and am now 246-8. My short term goal is 170 but ultimately I want to be in the 130's
  • BMR: 1450 TDEE:2920.8 Goal: 2100 calories per day
  • All I really think is oh man her poor knees. In all honesty it isn't good to run at that weight because you will damage your knees even if you aren't feeling it now. As much as I want to run I only walk because I want to spare that major joint for as long as I can. Maybe I will have a go 50 or so more pounds down. Good for…
  • Great work Gary1977 your hard work and determination is paying off. You should be proud of yourself.
  • Depends on the medications you are on as well. When I was on steroids chronically, I couldn't lose weight at all because that slows my metabolism. Some of my other meds can hinder things as well but so far so good. Make sure that you are eating enough: above your BMR and 20% below your TDEE.
  • Mine are 18 inches. At my smallest they were 17.0 inches. Sadly, they are here to stay since most of them are muscle. Has to be since they carried a lot of weight for a very long time :-)
  • People who have had bypass surgery have to be very well micromanaged under a doctors care. Most of them are malnourished and suffer from secondary nutritional deficiencies and must take supplements and eat a specific amount of proteins, carbs, etc. to avoid overfilling their stomachs and suffer serious consequences. Why go…
  • It has been working well for me. I usually consume about 2100 calories per day sometimes more depending on how hard I work out. MFP gives me about 1450 before eating exercise calories back (YES, eat those exercise calories). Which ends up being right in between the BMR and TDEE formulation. I have been consistently losing…
  • Your net should be 1450 as well. You need to eat your exercise calories back.
  • I have RA you can add me. Feet, hands, jaw, neck, wrists, ankles, knees affected. Have lost 45 lbs so far and work out 4-5 times per week.
  • How do you join R.A. Ninjas?
  • You are not alone. I am pretty sure I have 4 or 5 DVD's of sweatin to the oldies. To be honest, I love Richard!
  • I love that you are giving someone the finger in this picture.
  • So far my average loss is 1 lb per day or 41lbs in 41 days so yes, it is possible as long as you are eating your set caloric requirements in the most healthy way possible and exercising. Theresa
