So, I took a break from mfp pretty much all winter (but only gained about 8 pounds, hooray). I've already been training for a half marathon (starting week 4 out of 12 next week), but haven't gotten into the habit of logging food again yet. I think I should be able to lose some more weight if I do that, so my goal for June…

450 calories would be about .26 pounds if it was pure sugar...

That would be a cheeseburger with toppings. If a cheeseburger was offered to me at a party, and it came with relish, onions, tomatoes, or mustard on it, it would go in the garbage. Most people want to choose what toppings go on their burger. However, if a cheese/lettuce/tomatoburger was offered to me and awkwardly…

Irrelevant, quite a few other people posted since then.

Don't bump your own thread, if it's good other people will respond or bump it themselves.

With all due respect, she never said it was advice, she stated it was her opinion. So your aggressive statement wasn't necessary.

Guess I'm starting a little late, but I want to join :) 169 is my goal weight, so if I can keep up with this, I'll be 'done' losing weight at the end of the month :) July 7th: Actual: 176.5 July 15th: Target: 174.0 Actual: ___ July 22: Target: 172.0 Actual: ___ July 29: Target: 170.0 Actual: ___ July 31: Target: 169.0…

I started the C25K program to get started running, but then I decided to train for a 7-mile race at the end of July. I did the C25K program to get up to 30 minutes of running at a time, then I add 5 minutes a week until I get up to 70 minutes, which will be more than 7 miles at my pace. I credit C25K for making me not…

I know, right? I assume fat is more dense than butter, cuz I would really be disgusted with how I used to look if I used to have 212 extra butter sticks worth of size to me when I started.

Somewhat related, but not really a direct reply: I've become anal retentive about checking nutrition information when available before I eat at a restaurant, so I usually know if they try to give you multiples, but it is annoying if you didn't know beforehand. On the other hand, when I eat at restaurants that don't have…

Whenever people think of that, I'm sure they imagine putting mounds of that pink stuff in their mouth and yes, that image is disgusting. But isn't the image of just eating handfuls of salt, or sugar, just as unappetizing? Yet we still love sugar and salt in our food. Just a little perspective.

From what I know, you don't necessarily have to eat your BMR. As long as you have body fat, your body can get energy from that if you eat less than your BMR. Your BMR says how many calories you use if you do absolutely nothing all day. To figure the amount of calories you actually use in a day without exercising, you…

I don't really like people watching me either, so if you're doing a video inside, try to do it elsewhere. I do them in my room. When I still lived at home, my mom did them in the basement. If you only have one tv (and I have no idea why your family would stay there just to watch you), tell them that it's exercise time and…

212, but only 32 left to go!

I started today, I found this podcast useful: http://www.c25k.com/podcasts.htm I like the music, and he tells you when to walk and run.

In recent years half dollars have been minted only for collectors, due to large Federal Reserve and government inventories on hand of pre-2001 pieces, this mostly due to lack of demand and large quantity returns from casino slot machines that now operate "coinless". If and when the reserve supply runs low, the mint will…

You can set your goal to whatever you'd like (although it forces you to be at least 1200). I also set mine to 1200, although I generally eat more than that.

I know that as you get older your metabolism slows down (although I have no idea about pregnancies...) So, you may need to be a little more vigilant about watching what you eat than you used to. Especially if you need to lose a substantial amount of weight, keeping track of what you're eating will help you figure out if…

I've been on here for over a year and have lost 45.5 pounds so far (only 1 more til I'm no longer overweight!). So feel free to add me if you want :)
-
I set mine at 1200, so even if I go a little overboard (think an entire box of skinny cow snacks), I'm still not -really- over my calories. The downside is that I never really get the "congratulations, you were under you calorie goal" thing, unless I'm under by 10-20 calories.

I ate 2/3 of a package of oreos last week and finally gave the rest to my coworkers since I know I have no self control with regard to oreos.

When I searched for chicken, 'raw chicken breast' is the first thing that came up, which is a generic catch all for any non-brand chicken. When I searched for salmon, 'generic - atlantic salmon/farm raised' was the second result. I know there's a way to adjust what your starting weight was (since I started using this site…

It happens to me, too, but usually on my back or my forearms. Like you, it's only when I've just started exercising.

CW = 191, GW = 183. 183 will finally put me out of the 'overweight' category, which I don't think has happened since I was 15.

Same here, I worked out with a trainer for a couple months, even biking 6 miles to and from the gym 3 times a week, and I was annoyed that I was stuck at the same weight the whole time. But then he measured my body fat percentage again and it had gone from 23% to 18%. Not losing weight doesn't mean nothing is happening, it…

Just remember what page your post was on (I guess this only works if you only have a few convos you're invested in...)

You're already well on your way. Good luck :)

If people send you a message, it will show up as a number next to the envelope at the top of the screen. If people reply to your messages, I think you just have to check the forum again to see if anyone responded to you... I don't think there's an auto-notifier. Edit: I think I just realized what you're asking... There's a…

I started a system where I have a dollar for each pound I need to lose, but I can't use any until I've lost all the weight. When I get to my goal weight, I'll have $40 to spend on whatever I feel like (except junk food!). I have 40 $1 bills in an envelope, and as I lose the weight, I transfer them to another envelope. It's…
