  • Look into High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) for your cardio. Basically, do 1 minute hard, 1-2 minutes light, and keep repeating. You can do that on any cardio equipment you want to use. You can find ideas by googeling HIIT. Another thing to look into is Tabata.
  • Agreed. This is a great thread, it really has me thinking. The writter is obviously intelligent, but still very young and defiant. I hope that she will make certain changes in her life that fullfill her and keep her blood work showing healthy numbers. Things do catch up to us as we age. Bad knees, high cholesterol, high…
  • Exactly! Sounds just like my son and he is not fed treats, junk food or juice regularly. He eats more fruit and vegetables than any kids I'm around. That's just how some children grow! Keep them fed properly, active and not in front of a TV and they will be fine.
  • I want to look as good as all my hot friends. :)
  • Exactly. I honestly haven't tried, but I just can't do it, I think people look ridiculous doing it and I'm not gonna do it. I do everything else though try not to exclude anything.
  • To "ease" into lifting I've been doing this program: http://www.muscleandstrength.com/articles/womens-body-bible.html It's very easy to follow, no extra special equipment is needed either. I have increased my weight on everything and am on week 8. What I notice as I do not have extra time to get in cardio everyday is that…
  • Old Navy for sure - their compression pants are amazing - and come in all sizes. Not to mention, you can afford more than one pair.
  • Realize now you were joking. So sorry to have posted an actual reply.
  • 600 calories is all he's getting? He's starving. According to the USDA, for boys, 4 and 5 year olds need between 1,200 and 1,600 calories each day, 6 and 7 year olds should consume between 1,400 and 1,800 calories.
  • I honestly think that your workout schedule sounds good. I also like to do both strength and cardio. I like the mix. I currently do: Monday: Circuit - light cardio mixed with plyo and strength Tuesday: run Wednesday: Circuit again Thursday: cardio - I pick whatever I feel like for the day Friday: Strength and Cycle - spin…
  • They were common. Besides debating the quality / quantity of food - people also WORKED HARD. They worked on farms, and factories where they may have had to walk to get there. They did not sit in front of a television everyday. The work people did was 10x what we all do today. No one sat in front of computers, or had smart…
  • I get what you mean. I have a horrible self image from the Me 35 lbs ago. I sometimes feel like when someone says how great I look, I instantly think "How bad did I look to you before?" BUT - we have to catch ourselves from thinking that these compliments are underhanded. Weight is a sensitive topic. Your friends ARE proud…
  • Thank you for posting this. I finally read it enough times - to slow down. Someone once told me that "one should be able to run at 6.0" therefore I've been pushing myself to run my first mile at 6.0, then I would run intervals after that. I just didn't get better. So, now I'm doing C25K and I'm running at 5.6 and feeling…
  • Push ups are hard! Keep trying your best! You'll get better with time and repeatedly doing them. Try doing as many push ups on your knees as you can. Do that many week 1 and then the next week try doing a couple more. They take time. And for the record, I do push ups at least 3 times per week (since summer 2012) and I can…
  • I have Pool nights every week, and my husband has his Pool night a different day. Our 5 year old LOVES to go to either my parents or my husbands Mom's house. Nearly every weekend one set of grandparents is begging for him. We let him because it's a win for everyone. And I do realize how increadibly lucky we are. Normally…
  • You can keep your carbs down, but you still have to have some! Try some fruit and veggies. I don't blame you for not wanting processed wheats and starchy foods, but there has to be some carbs to fuel your lengthy 1000+ calorie burning stints. You've got to eat more food. Have chicken breast, cottage cheese is low carb,…
  • It's so crazy to hear how badly some people are treated at gyms! It's hard enough to find the motivation to show up there, then to be treated so poorly - anyone who's had this happen has my condolences and I hope you find a good gym where people are respectful and helpful. I'm very lucky that my gym is so comfortable. I…
  • I started tracking food on this site in February 2012 - started exercising regularly in about April 2012. When I started, I walked on my two 15 minute breaks a mile loop - I had to be back in 15 minutes, so I walked at about a 4.0 speed, each and every day. Then in June I added (got tricked into) joing a Boot Camp. That…
  • I get very tight calves too, and I have to stretch them before I begin. Try just doing the standard calf stretch, leaning against the wall with your foot flat behind you, put it back far enough that you feel the stretch. Then, keeping the same position, bend your knee and you will fee the stretch lower in your calves, just…
  • My reduction was the best thing I could have ever done. When you get to whatever your goal weight is and if you are not happy with your size, look into it. I can't tell you how amazing it is to wear a shirt that actually fits correctly. To wear a bra that doesn't have thick straps, and for people to look at your face…

  • I would enjoy outdoors more if I didn't have such horrible asthma. I'm allergic to all sorts of fun outdoor stuff so I end up weezing and having an attack every single time I try to run outside. I agree that the treadmill is borning, but it's better than nothing.
  • I love ice skating and both cross country and downhill skiing. We haven't had snow for almost 2 years, so I haven't been able to take my son sledding, but I bet it would be good / fun exercise if it ever happens!
  • You look amazing!
  • I was just logging for my sushi night out tonight and was also surprised by some of the totals. But, I love it and it's fresh and delicious, so I'll save 800-900 calories for dinner and wine! :drinker:
  • You have gorgous legs! Flaunt them! Very beautiful.
  • I totally agree, I'm 5'7 and have more of an athletic build. I'm at 195 right now, and I can't wait to be 180 and if I look like you do now, I'm pumped as hell to get there. You look amazing. Great job!
  • This... You're 19 and absolutely should be going to school and not worrying about his crap. If he's avoiding you, and saying you're mean when you're not means he is covering for something. RUN AWAY FAST.
