  • Remembering this is an ongoing journey, and it will not be perfectly linear. Planning, buying and preparing good food on the weekends so I can have a healthy week. Occasional treats. Weighing myself a couple times a week. Faithfully tracking. Watching success for other people. Getting enough sleep. Journaling to deal with…
  • Keep paying attention to eating good food and losing weight. I feel it is making a difference for me. I still have days, like when I shopped all day with my daughter, where I realize I still have a long way to go. But at least I can go shopping all day long again. There's nothing like bargain shopping and treating her! It…
  • This looks like a great weekend morning treat!
  • You're doing a fantastic job! I'm right behind you, working at it and cheering you on!
  • I made the whole day eating healthy! I am doing this! I had hummus and cottage cheese and Greek yogurt for my main proteins. Back when I worked at Life Time Fitness I asked the corporate body builders for advice on what protein mix I should use for losing weight. They suggested I use Champion Nutrition's Ultramet vanilla…

  • My challenge is cutting way down on the simple sugars. I need to limit my sugars to total fruits and cut the desserts down to like once a week or two. Thanks for inviting me to the challenge. I am very limited in exercise lately due to needing physical therapy for my knees and so I'll be faithful to my strengthening…

  • If you're wanting to lower carbs keep selecting proteins and vegetable foods. Hard boiled eggs are excellent, and you have given me so many vegie ideas.

  • That looks so good! Thanks for sharing.
  • Hi, I've been living with fibromyalgia and myofascial pain for most of my life. I have not been doing much exercise except for walking the dogs and I need to get more active. I am looking forward to seeing success in each of the members of this group. All my best, GuitarLuv
  • Hi, I have had fibromyalgia for most of my life. I know that I need to get up and move when I am working at my desk. I take mini-breaks to stand and stretch. I want to try qigong because I have heard that it is good for this condition. I would also suggest low-impact aerobics such as water aerobics or elliptical workouts…
  • I have had fibromyalgia for over 20 years. I have had success losing weight but I have to get better at not being such a yo-yo with my exercise levels. I am buying a fitbit flex to help me monitor my movement and be gradual in increasing so that I don't cause injury and flare-up. I like duffmama's suggestion to start with…
  • Thank you for a beautiful post. I agree.
  • Yes, yoga is all about you and your journey toward flexibility and balance and strength. I am much more overweight than you, and even with recognizing my tummy is reducing my movement I can still do yoga and get a great workout. I do it for the stress reduction, strengthening (slow movement and holding poses a while) and…

  • You CAN take care of yourself. It is good to forgive yourself and to start new again. Congratulations to you for being strong and doing that. We will support each other and make it through this lifelong journey, and get better and better at taking care of our health. I'm glad you friended me tonight. We will take care of…
  • This sounds great! I thought there was going to be a recipe section to the site? I have loaded a few of my own recipes in the past but they weren't publicly available. Do you think this is going to get turned on?
  • I agree with some of the good comments here. She needs more support than you alone. She needs counseling to help with her painful emotional reaction and she needs a little strength training. I once had a friend who was a runner who freaked about her "back fat" and it was due to needing upper body strengthening. Good luck.
  • That is too funny!!! I laughed at all the things that goat says. What talent -- I could never stick out my tongue while talking!!!
  • Welcome to MFP! I have found so much support here and it is making it a wonderful experience. Some of the best advice I found here that has really helped me was to always be kind to yourself and encourage yourself the same way you would encourage a good friend, to stop the negative self-talk. You've done the important…
  • Thank you for saying what is so true. I know in my heart that it takes time for real change and that I need to be patient with myself. I love the way you say it. I need to give myself time because the true gift to myself is to keep working at it. I'm not who I was or who I will be, I am myself as a work in progress. I will…
  • This is so true. I am my own worst critic and I realize I have to shut it off and start treating myself the way I would treat anyone else! Thank you for a great post!
  • Youch! I hope it didn't hurt too much. I fell off of a treadmill once because I was starting to faint and ended up with a giant bruise from the treadmill arm on my chest. I learned that I really can't get up in the morning and go workout without at least eating a graham cracker with peanut butter on it. If you're like me,…
  • Great idea only if Mike wants to get some type of order fulfillment process going for products.
  • I used to work for a major gym and when I first started working out my body was very inefficient and I was lucky to burn 300 calories an hour. After 5 months of working out 3-5 times per week for an hour each time I got up to burning 600 calories per hour. Before and after those 5 months I had a metabolic assessment where…
  • That is the hard part for me, too. Acceptance of myself. Stopping the negative self-talk. Thank you for your inspiration. I don't want to be the victim anymore I want to be well in spirit. Now that I'm over 50 I am stopping the bad scripts and replacing them with positive ones. I am so good at nurturing others and now I…
  • Please recognize that you cannot be your own rock all of the time. You are an incredible person going through huge challenges. I am so sorry that you have so much that you must deal with. Get yourself some help and you can always post here because we will support you as much as is virtually possible. I will keep you in my…
  • What StacySkinny wrote makes all of the sense in the world. Steady with persistence, we can't beat ourselves up when we fall back into an old habit, and we need to make this work in the long run and not overdo skimping on nutrition or killing ourselves to the point of injury with exercise. I really liked what you wrote.…
  • I am amazed by your story. Thank you for sharing it. It is inspiring me to be more than I can be just by myself. I'm glad I found this place and am learning from people like you.
