  • Sometimes it is just working out which way a vegetable tastes best. Canned asparagus tastes completely different to fresh and fresh is different if it is boiled in water, sauteed in oil/water, or roasted, Raw asparagus tastes like peas. I chop it finely and add it to a green salad. Maybe when you next try a new vegetable,…
  • I bake my chicken and a few of the flavour combos I use are - sweet chili sauce mixed with lime juice, mustard and maple syrup and soy sauce with either mirin, honey or maple syrup plus garlic and or ginger. I usually only use a tablespoon or so of each and also add a couple of tablespoons of water to stop it burning.

  • Sometimes not eating enough protein can result in sugar cravings. I try to stash emergency 'kits' of food - small tins of tuna, prepackaged cheese with crackers, protein bars etc at work, in my car/handbag and at home so if plans change I have options at hand which will usually tide me over and stop me from making poor…
  • Personally, I think aspartame will be touted as being safe until the day either Coke or Pepsi find an alternative and then it will become the worst poison man can make.
  • I heat tinned chopped tomatoes, lentils or black beans, spinach and fresh chili in a pan - crack in a couple of eggs then cover and cook until eggs are done to your liking. Eggs and chili - yum.
  • I just had a quick look at your diary and what jumps out is lack of fruit and vegetables and the amount of processed foods and food substitutes - protein shakes and the like. . ALso, re your exercise, 'Some' is not a unit of measure - its usually what people say when they're not totally committed. Anyone in this thread who…
  • I get weak and shaky and have to eat NOW!! when my blood sugar gets low - since following low GI diet principles (in general) these 'crashes' have pretty much disappeared. Missing meals, not eating enough protein and being dehydrated all mess with my blood sugar and crashes manifest themselves as major sugar cravings.…
  • I just sprinkle a tablespoon or so of flour to my chicken and veges in the pan and stir it into everything - leave to cook out for 5 or so minutes (keep stirring) then add my stock gradually, stirring. It doesnt go all clumpy. If you want a creamy finish a tablespoon or two of fat free sour cream added once taken off the…
  • Way to go! Your girls must be so proud of you! :flowerforyou:
  • Although it might sound weird, try mixing your favorite yoghurt into your oatmeal....after cooking. The sharpness of the yoghurt works well with the blandness of the oatmeal. It tastes better than it sounds - I promise!
  • SW 265.5 CW 268.7 Not the best week! There are valid reasons - well, if you count Margairita's and Movenpick as valid reasons, there are.:blushing:
  • The day either Pepsi or Coke switch to Stevia or another more natural sugar substitute is the day that the real truth about Aspartame will come out. Most of the "science" quoted in this thread seems to be along the same lines as the "Margarine is just one step away from plastic" school of logic. Personally, I try and avoid…
  • I love salmon! Try it slathered with a paste made from maple syrup(2) and mustard (1), or sweet chili sauce thinned with fresh lime juice before baking.
