Good thread. Personally realising that at 66, if I am going to lose weight I need to do it slowly in a manner that is manageable. Some days I may overeat but no longer let this sabotage me. In fact for me I think I probably need to ease off every now and then. Somehow mentally it is a kind of release, if that makes sense.

Interesting responses thank you. Yes I am strong and do lots of things, so should be grateful of what I can do. Need to stop comparing and second guessing.

Your, can't stop eating, sounds just like me. I just haven't been able to get my head around losing weight on this occasion. I don't know if this is any help but what I am trying just now is, to eat if I must, but make it fruit or raw veg between meals. Have loads of those on hand. If really desperate I will have a piece…

Starting, like yourself TiffsMethod, trying to be accountable and understand real hunger. My goals for the day are to not eat between meals. I have been trickle feeding plus meals for far too long. Also to try and have enough protein and loads of vegetables. I like a full plate ;) Struggling to accept I need to be a bit…

Could you try and leave some calories for evening. I find a carbohydrate snack before bed helps settle me better for sleeping.
-
Also try to make sure your lunch is sustaining i.e. include fat and protein. Too many carbs at lunch can result in unmanageable hunger later on.

Yes!

Nuts, Dark Choc, fruit, cheese and some raw crunchy veg.

Well done on your 4lb loss. Planning ahead is so important. Life just happens and it can be difficult to make choices when away from home. Sounds like you know what you are doing.

Sorry I wrote a great big reply and most of it disappeared!!!

Congratulations with your weight loss.

Fantastic loss. My tip would be keep doing what your doing. It will soon start to show.

Experiment with ways of eating that suit your lifestyle. What fits in with your body clock and the kids. is there any particular time of day when you can eat less saving calories for those other times, perhaps when the kids are away to bed. You have to find something that suits you and is sustainable. I'm much older but…

Good thread, and possibly might help others who do seem to critique their photos too harshly. I've kinda fairly recently came to terms with the fact that I must have fallen from the top of the ugly tree hitting every branch on the way down. However on a more positive note I think a smile and a kindly attitude are long term…

Thank you for your honesty and common sense. Trying to be perfect can backfire!!

Great to hear, well done!

Absolutely agree just move on. Life will be full of situations like this, as long as you get right back on your woe this won't hamper you at all. In fact I believe we need a bit of deviation now and then, no one is perfect and trying to be can be the real cause of failure.

Mix some Mascarpone cheese with Fage Greek Yogurt a smidge of cocoa. Delicious and does the trick, hope you find that little something?
-
That's great news. please keep us updated!

How long have you been low carb? I have been for about 6 months and YES I am much more sensitive to sweet tastes now and generally find them unpalatable, which is a wonderful side effect. I eat dark chocolate the darker the better and find 75% too sweet now. Actually hope it lasts as there is just no point in craving…

Another one here! Just plodding away not much to report sometimes but on every day checking out what's going on!
-
Thank you for encouraging words! Glad your keeping in control and actually seem to be enjoying the challenge of maintanence!
-
Thanks for update! I was wondering how it was going! Hopefully you will be able to continue to support this horse with his troubled life!

Well you have already been successful by coming on here and making an effort to do something about your unhappiness with your weight. I could share with you that yes-your right logging and counting calories would be very helpful. I have been doing that for over a year. You really learn the calorific amount of each portion.…

Welcome on board! It's a very friendly helpful bunch on here and the more the merrier :-)! Give it a good go before thinking it's not for you. You will find lots of info and advice looking through posts. Sweet tooth-you know you might have came to exactly the right place. If that is your downfall this way of eating will…

Sorry to hear of your dilemma. Binging is a horrid thing and its a vicious circle of emotion, binge, depression, emotion....... Ultimately yes it maybe is only a couple of cookies, but we feel so disillusioned at our inability to refrain that we start the circle again and again. I don't think you can control what someone…

Now our weather is becoming more autumnal I am starting to miss some comfort food! Cheese toasties, Macaroni and cheese, thick home made soup. Probably going to have more vegetables which will increase the carbs a bit but could be worse!
-
Goodness I would never step on the scales in the evening, much too disheartening for me!

Being low carb can dry and reduce things quite a bit. Suddenly having a large amount of carbs may have done a little damage in their rush to leave your system!! Hopefully it will have settled by now, if not as others said, take advice. Don't let a cheat day get you down either, none of us are perfect and trying to achieve…

You have done so brilliantly. Additionally you know that maintenance will not be plain sailing. It's a work in progress and I don't think we will ever get THERE, that place in our dreams where we will be slim and life will be so much better!!! Scales both for weighing food and ourselves can be really helpful. Unfortunately…
