  • Sorry, we don't serve food here.
  • I do it all the time, often more than 30 minutes. I've also worked out full, half-full, just a little full. (8+ years) Work out when you want, at whatever food level works for you. The activity is the important thing. Good luck!
  • These suggestions are great! I really like the 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk as well - each mile has a jog segment at the end. Each mile ends up being around 12-13 minutes. Also 4 Really Big Miles and 4 Fast Miles are good! And if you're ever not feeling challenged enough, bump it up on your own! I add arms and all sorts of…
  • Recently at the running store, trying on a jacket, the clerk said, "You are so f***ing hot." I love a compliment, but dropping the f-bomb on a customer is just awkward. But I still bought the jacket, lol.
  • That is so inspiring! For us as adults AND as parents! GO GO GO!!!
  • ^^You are awesome!
  • ^^This. This. Love you, man!!!
  • ^^I agree with these very smart ladies!! I lost 50 pounds over 7 years ago, eating at a healthy calorie deficit and only doing Leslie workouts 6-7 days a week. And those pounds are still off (I do some other workouts for variety, but Leslie is still my favorite, and I do the DVDs a few times a week.) It is the exercise to…
  • Thank you for sharing this. How can anyone have excuses after reading your story? You are an inspiration.
  • Love!
  • I love the above post. Try new things! Take a walk with some good music or a friend. Borrow some DVDs from the library or look on Youtube. There are lots of gyms or places that give classes that offer introductory specials. It becomes "want/need to" when you do it long enough for it to become routine. I think of it as I do…
  • That was my story, 8 years ago next month. It took a vacation of miserable slogging around with the extra pounds (Disney, with young kids) to finally make me change - for GOOD (I was up and down my whole life). I love that you have a long-term goal, but the BEST thing you can do is focus on changing your life. Make the…
  • I am finishing up week 2 and really like it so far. It is a great alternative if you want to lift, but can't get to the gym.
  • She was in Florida last year, so who knows where she may end up next? Hoping for some face time with her and will definitely say hi from the MFP fans. (Last year I did the same.) It is a blast and so cool to see how many people turn out for the opportunity to see her in person!!
  • Will do! I hope the old crew will be there since it is close to her home base!
  • That is a great start to your collection!! Happy walking!!!
  • Hi Michelle! Some great advice here. If you look on Amazon, there are a few DVDs that have a number of workouts on them ... My favorite is "Walk Away the Pounds - Fat Burning Miles." It is $9 for four different programs, 3 of which have been "goto" 30 minute workouts for me for 8 years! I have a big collection of the DVDs…
  • Hi. It is hard to get started and keep going. Which DVDs are you using? Some of them are more advanced than others, and may not be the prefect fit for you right now. But don't get discouraged! If you can do 5 minutes, do it!! In a couple of days, challenge yourself to six. And then 7... Before long, you'll be a…
  • Couldn't have said it better myself!
  • ^^Agree. Leslie Sansone has lots of great low impact workouts.
  • I don't go to Curves, but my sister works at one. They changed things up this year. They still have the machines, which are similar to gym machines, but instead of just walking on the platform, there is a Jillian Michaels video demonstrating fairly intense body weight and cardio exercises for in-between. The exercises are…
  • Consistency really is key. Sounds like you're on track with the eating. 4 days a week is great. If you can get a couple more videos, you can mix things up a little with the workouts. And don't skip that "firm" part - getting stronger is great for your overall health! As for stories, I'm a 50 pounds down and off for almost…
  • I love to slice it into circles, brown in a bit of oil or butter, then grate a little fresh Parmesan on top.
  • Oh no! Sorry for your loss!! I don't use one, but people REALLY seem to love the Fitbit. And it has its own interactive community, which is very cool.
  • I'm all for enjoying vacation! But I think one of the mistakes a lot of people make (if weight gain is a concern), is that everything gets tossed into the wind. But it doesn't have to be and you can still have a great time. For example .... There is generally a lot of down time in which to schedule something active.…
  • One is good. Makes it a better day than yesterday!!
  • In for any positive ginger comments...
  • Hi - Sounds like you might really benefit from one of the newer DVDs, "Walk it Off in 30." It has two segments, one thirty minute cardio session and one thirty minute strength training session with weights. (Leslie and some of the walkers use very light weights during the cardio session, but it is not necessary.) The…
  • 8 IS heavy, especially if you're doing a lot of repetition. <<I've gotten some great definition with 8s, 10s and the stretch band. As long as the weight is a challenge for you, then it is "heavy!" Ok, we're not weight lifters, but you really don 't have to be to build strong muscles.
  • For cooking sauces and gravies, replacing fats and heavy heavy creams with chicken broth and 1% or skim milk is a great alternative. I also use broth for pasta dishes that call for a lot of butter. I use a little butter for flavor, but a lot of calories are saved, and dishes still taste great! Good topic, thanks.
