Yes! I swim three times weekly for fitness. Great all over, no impact work out. I just get to the pool, take off my sweats and slip right in. Everyone else is immersed, too, so there's really nothing to see.

If you're an online shopper, try athleta.com and title9.com, they've got some great supportive sports bras that don't smush the girls. Lululemon also has some great ones (the tata tamer). At Target, Champion makes some farly decent sports bras, as well. Good luck on your first 5k!

Start lower and then gradually move up. I worked with a trainer a few years ago who had me do some weighted ankle strengthening exercises (point and flex) and it helped my ankle strength. They're so bad for you, but I LOVE wearing them. The higher the better! I'm either wearing athletic shoes or über high heels - more time…

I have a lot of super frizzy hair and I swim for some of my cardio. I find that if I shower twice I only rinse and condition the second time. Also, I'll apply a deep conditioning treatment twice a week before a workout or swim and it keeps things more manageable.
