Simple lunch at work, cajun spiced chicken with salad; fresh and filling. This is my day 1 after 2 years off - lots of motivation at the moment, need to find the discipline to make it last :)

Can you point me at some decent recipes to maximise my protein intake? I get like cottage cheese omelettes for breakfast, and plenty of chicken/turkey/steak throughout the day, but looking for a bit more variation?

I don't pole dance, but these helped me: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/09/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle/ http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/17/advanced-body-weight-workout-warning-this-will-kick-your-*kitten*/

It's a marathon, not a sprint - got to imagine a YEAR from now at the back of your mind, whilst focusing on the week-by-week improvements you're making. How long have you lived unhealthily? You can't undo all that in a matter of weeks. If you're getting bored of the "routine" find a different sort of exercise to do, keep…

Love the sponge analogy, sums it up completely!

I got through 3 weeks of it, then had a 40 mile off road mountain bike event to complete, and that threw me out of sync. When I tried to get going again, other things started getting in the way, and I had lost the discipline of doing it daily. I really enjoyed it, although it was hard (I wasn't able to finish most…

Yup, if you don't want the curry sauce element, this is tops! And don't forget the MUSHROOM RICE!!! :)
-
I've read a chicken rogan josh, which is tomato based, is the most healthiest non-pure-vegetable curry you can order, although I suspect it's a little bland; I think all the korma sauce is one of the worst! I love a curry, but these days I'll make sure I've got a couple of hundred calories from the previous couple of days,…

Bought the Wahoo Blue one and on first try (playing squash, and cycling to and from squash) it worked really well, given me some useful data already. Looking forward to the results when I go for a run, which is the main reason I purchased it for. As long as I dampen the two sensors, it works a treat (so far).

In case anyone else wants a comparison, have found this article which is reasonably useful: http://fitnesselectronicsblog.com/2012/08/07/polar-h7-versus-wahoo-fitness-bluehr-bluetooth-smart-shoot-out/

Just discovered Polar have their own iPhone compatible strap: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Polar-Bluetooth-Sensor-Compatible-iPhone/dp/B007S088F4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Has anyone used either the Wahoo Blue or Polar Bluetooth strap successfully with the iPhone 4S?

LOL I saw your profile pic and read that as "Humans with Carrots"!!! :D

I found it easier to eat well when I was also exercising (running & cycling) - it gave me added motivation. When I'm not exercising it's much easier for me to eat badly. Probably some other underlying cause for this, but I'm also happy I can now run 10k in an hour, whereas before I started I couldn't even run 1k.

I've been on a plateau for 3 weeks eating 1480 calories a week (based on MFP) and running 2 or 3 times a week (lost 4.25 stone in 6 months following this, so it had been successful). Started Insanity last week, upped my calories to 2000 a day based on their formula, have lost 1.75 pounds this week (an an inch off waist and…

I'm on day 10 of Insanity - the first 3 or 4 days were killer, muscle soreness all over. After the first 5 days, it went (or I didn't notice it any more because of the exhaustion!!!).

Amazing work, well done!

I ordered Insanity last night. Have lost 4 stone since September and am running a 10k in March, but while I am pleased with the weight loss, my core is week and my belly does not seem to be shrinking any more! I've got 2 stone to my goal weight, so I'm hoping this will help get me there, losing inches and body fat rather…

Non Scale Victory - when something or someone causes you to realise how you've improved/lost.

Take a measurement now, and then again in 4 weeks. Even if it still looks big to you, the tape measure will prove it's shrinking! :)

I put on 1 pound, which I was really chuffed with; went for a long run two days before Christmas, relaxed Xmas Day and Boxing Day, then back on the wagon and a short run Thursday (I weigh myself every Friday morning).

Thanks LadyPakal, an interesting read - I guess I'll just monitor the numbers over the next couple of weeks and see if another woosh is ever triggered. By the sounds of it, the closer I get to my goal weight (still miles off), the less often a woosh should occur. I guess if I keep wooshing, I've got a problem...

I've just been able to run 5k for the first time in the past 3 weeks, trying to get my time down from 33:25 to 30:00 before I then want to work on running further (ultimately 10k). A guy lives below me runs with the local running club and he's told me to improve speed you should do one session of short sprints a week. They…

Lampposts - get to the next lamppost, then you can stop. But then I get to the next lamppost and challenge myself again. Then, when I am completely shot, I alternate between walking to the next lamppost, run to the next one.
