  • I weigh myself every few days, I don’t record what I’ve lost per week, as people get fixated on not losing the same each week, so I just weigh in 6 times a month and as long as the number is down slightly, I’m happy.
  • I am 51, I have lost a total of 80 lbs taking me from 215 lbs to 135 lbs, I am 5 ft 5" tall I lost the weight throughout the last 18 months. I lost 40 lbs, then stayed at that weight for a good few weeks, then lost some more, then some more, I have had about 3 months now at 135 lbs and stayed within a five pound range and…
  • I know how you feel !! I lost 80 lbs (5 ft 5") to get to my first target weight of 135 lbs - I would like to carry on until I got to 125 lbs, but due to pressure from my husband, saying that I had lost enough, etc, etc. I decided to stay between 135 - 139 lbs, which I upped my calories and stayed for a few months, but this…
  • Thank you for putting all that down in black and white, it was very interesting and helpful for me to read as I've only been on maintain acne for 3 weeks. I hope you get on ok with your future treatments, it must be very hard, going through all that, best of luck for the future.
  • The strategy I used, which seemed to work pretty well, was to eat as healthy a breakfast and lunch as I could (I hit the grocery as soon as I got there to make sure I had some healthy food to go to). I generally limited myself to a couple healthy breakfasts and lunches that I regularly eat and therefore knew the calories…
  • Hi all, I am female, 51 years old, starting weight was 215 lbs and I am now 136 lbs, I have lost 79 lbs , it has taken 2. Years, I lost about 45 lbs then stopped for a bit then carried on again and lost the rest. My profile picture is me now and I feel slim and happy.
  • I have had the same thing said to me regularly - I'm 51, 5 ft 5" tall and weighed 215 lbs at the start, when I got to 150 lb - which was the top end of what I should weigh, friends and especially my husband kept telling me that I looked fine, and I stopped, but was never really happy, I maintained the weight for a few…
  • Hi, I am 5ft 5" tall and age 51, I have lost 79 lbs and feel amazing, I am trying to maintain now, I haven't got a before picture, but my profile picture was taken yesterday, and it's the first picture that I've seen myself in, that I actually feel slim!
  • Thanks, I actually found it in my daughters wardrobe ! She lives in Sydney now and must have left it behind x
  • Thank you and yes you will get there, you enjoy the journey though getting there, every time you lose a lb or two - just think ' I will not be that weight again ' you can always add me as a friend if you want, good luck
  • Ah, thank you so much, no ne has ever said anything like that about me before . You made my day
  • My NSV for today, was I went out for lunch with three friends, who all guessed my weight, and all of them said I looked 125 lbs and I am actually 136 lbs. so for me that felt good.
  • It is hard, when I started, I had a lot (to me) to lose, so I lost 20 lbs then tried to maintain at that for a few weeks, the lost another 20 and so on, most of the time I managed within a few pounds, but this last six months, I've changed in my mind set, and if someone said to me, we are going for burger and fries... I…
  • Just to let you know, this was me 2 years ago and as of yesterday I have lost 79 lbs to reach my goal. It can be done, I found that I just had to put myself first for a change, I made goals along the way and I wrote in a writing book, one side was WHT I ate, calories and exercise and on the opposite side was how I was…
  • Thank you all, for the lovely comments and yes I am proud of myself and wish I had set to years ago, but I think you have to be in right frame of mind to change. I will carry on walking my 5 mile a day on treadmill, as that improves my arthritis in hips, so I will up my calories by 100 a day for a week or two and see what…
  • Wow !! That is great as karen millen are small sizes - you want to try per una, you will be an 8 in them x
  • Well I will send you good wishes and hope you don't start eating or drinking with the stress - I've been through a lot in my life, some times I turned to food, then I turned to drink but most recently, when my dad died I stopped eating, which was just as bad. I love reading all of these as well.
  • My NSV today, is when trying on a dress, that wouldn't fit and not only did it fit perfectly, was that I found I had put it on, without undoing the side zip !! I was very happy.
  • Hi, I have exactly the same issue, I am 5 ft 5" and started off at 215 lb, I wanted to get to 124 lb ( which is the weight I was when I got married 32 years ago ) the healthy weight range for our HIEGHT is 120 - 150 lb. I reached 150 lb and everyone was telling me not to lose any more, as I looked fine etc, so I stopped…
  • Thank you, you have given me hope that if I carry on losing the weight slowly as I am doing, then my stomach will go down in time - I just think it's going to be the last think to shrink for me.
  • 'Yes' it was so nice to hear, as I don't seem to get a lot of compliments, and the cashier was pleased I mentioned mfp to her and she wrote it down, as she had not heard of it, and couldn't actually believe that it is a 'free' site to use. I hope she joins.
  • Congratulations on all your successes !! You look a lot happier now than you did, and you don't look 50 at all. I was 50 last year, and was 142 lbs, which was the lowest I had been for many many years, and even though my dad had just passed away the week before and I was very sad about that - I had a wonderful birthday…
  • Congratulations - I know how you feel to hit a milestone, that you have in your head, I remember going from 215 to 199 and it felt so good, just to myself, knowing that I had got there, myself. It does get easier, as you make this a pet of everyday life, I carried on and am now trying to get under my 140 goal, (I am 142)…
  • I have a treadmill at home, in the living room, behind the sofa, when I started out exercising, I walked on it, very slowly, even 2 mph for five mins at a time, and as you get walking, i forget about the pain for a little, I now love my treadmill as it's the only form of exercise I do.

  • Hi, I have osteoarthritis, in both hips, hands, arms and shoulder, and I get a lot of pain, usually first thing in a morning and from tea time onwards, I only started with arthritis, two years ago, but have carried on with losing weight slowly and in batches. I try and lose 25-30 lbs, then stop for a few weeks and try and…
  • Hi, I have osteo arthritis mainly in both hips, but also in both hands, arm and it's spreading to my shoulders. My physio told me to walk, cycle and swim - they are the best low impact exercises, but I cannot swim, and to be honest I don't have the time, due to working at home, to go out cycling - but I bought a treadmill…
