  • I train in the morning in a fasted state and use BCAAs like the above poster with added beta alanine and citrulline malate as a pre workout and just plain BCAA sup after. Both are 0 calories so not breaking my fast. It is basically the leucine that you want in there as that prevents muscle breakdown and stimulates protein…
  • When Final Fantasy 7 came out on PS1 I spent the week non stop playing it so i could be one of the first to complete it. I would fall asleep with the controller in my hand and wake up and carry on playing. Lived off 10 minute pizza and Pepsi that week. It beat going to college anyway.
  • I never saw him as innocent either. He just was too scared to let his true self come out.
  • I watched season 1 in a night and thought it was excellent. It slowed down a few seasons later and it got really slow. Some of the episodes dragged and then it picked up again but its worth watching through them. I watched the whole show in about 2 weeks on Netflix and then had to wait for the final episodes to appear on…
  • My gf juiced for awhile. She tried to get me to do it. I tried some of the juices and they didnt taste that bad. Costs a fortune though! I honestly do not see the appeal though of ditching whole food for juice. I think its another gimmick personally. In things like Apples the good stuff is in the skin. I watched a…
  • Just make your own shake. Buy a decent whey protein (Everyone here seems to be using Optimum which i use as well) and throw in whatever else you like. Can use fruits and veggies. Had never heard of Shakelogy. Looked it up and it looks like a hyped up over priced product making a killing out of being nothing more then…
  • Just another fad. Anything will usually work for awhile if you go into it with enough passion. Looking in shape also does not mean you are fit and healthy. When I was at my biggest muscular wise I was not very fit but most folks assumed I could run iron man competitions! Everyone is different as well so cant say one person…
  • This. For some folks baby steps are the best way to go. Everyone is different. For some folks they have an all or nothing approach and if it works for them great. Others have to take it nice and slow and build it up. Doing too much at once is setting yourself up for failure. Its not about will power its about understanding…
  • Are you talking about guys who purposely were bulking and then cut up or are you talking in general about over weight individuals who didn't really do any weight training but then when they did decide to lose weight they still maintained a stocky looking appearance?
  • Liquid cals would be your best bet to make up the cals and what the poster above suggested about peanut butter is a trick i use as well. I stick it in and on everything lol. Good fats and protein. PM me and I will help you write out a program if you want and help you calculate how many cals you should be having. At 18 your…
  • I just mixed my arm workout up last week and did tri sets. Amazing pump!
  • Have you tried using static holds and negatives?
  • To be honest I don't work out in an attempt to prolong my life. I workout because I enjoy working out. You could die crossing the road tomorrow! Doesn't mean you will stop crossing roads! Staying inside by yourself with your doors bolted you will avoid being run over, murdered, attacked etc but that isn't a life. Life is…
  • I don't think the OP was trying to mislead anyone was just trying to say to the average Joe not to get overwhelmed thinking ahhh its past noon and I haven't eaten 3 meals yet. Here is a study on post workout protein which was funded by GNC. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17679046 The creatine groups post workout gained…
  • I just eat two meals at once when i do that :)
  • This is a huge misconception folks have. You wont suddenly sprout biceps. To really make big muscular gains test is required and you need to eat your way to those gains. It's taken me a year to put a half inch on my biceps.
  • I posted something similar on another thread just now about Hyperbolic Discounting. Its about rewarding yourself right now as the pay off in the future seems too far away. There is a good article about it here http://youarenotsosmart.com/2010/10/27/procrastination/ Your will power isn't weak at all. This line sums it up…
  • Its called hyperbolic discounting. Its basically thinking of the rewards that are here right now instead of the pay off you will get in the future. Right now you think mmmm I can have a yummy chocolate. The pay off in the future is getting to look and feel the way you want to look and feel, but you aren't achieving that…
  • Not heard it called that before. Back when I trained in the UK we called it gear or juice. And JoRocka have you read up on glucosamine mate? Most studies I have read show its does nothing. Its a placebo effect if anything.
  • I think that is sound advice when it comes to dieting. Nearly all of us are addicted to sugar and/or salt so to just cut those things for most people is extremely hard and then when they fail they tend to quit thinking I can't do this. To ask yourself to do too much at once in my opinion can be setting yourself up to fail…
  • I have issues in both my elbows. I also had active release done to help get rid of it. A few years ago I had it so bad in my left arm that I could barely pick a db up so i went and saw a local guy. He did ART on it for 30mins and it was gone! So i swear by it now. I just had issues in my right bicep and forearm and elbows…
  • What he said. Its about making the right choices more times then not. If you beat yourself up every time you make a mistake its counter productive. Successful people learn from their mistakes and push on they don't dwell on them.
  • Everyone is different so if you like having the workout planned out and following along to it there is nothing wrong with that. The bench and rack would be well worth while purchases! Can do everything once you have those. I kitted out our workout room with nearly the works (I still need to get a power rack) by looking on…
  • They fluctuate so much as they are all basically estimators. I find that the calipers work great. Punch them into google and watch a video on how to use them. Really simple and an easy way to monitor your progress. Hydrostatic Weighing is one of best ways to measure body fat via water displacement and the accu measure…
  • No worries. When I first started training I used to use EAS Phosphagen which was again just overpriced creatine. I think the sugar in the protein is again supposed to cause an insulin spike but I have read a number of studies that show that the sugar does absolutely nothing but give you a ton of empty calories.
  • Are you getting the creatine and beta alanine from a preworkout or buying them seperate? If a pre workout which one do you use please? I normally use assault but my body is getting used to assault so looking for some decent alternatives.
  • CellTech isnt a protein though. Its creatine and yeah it is overpriced. I think the sugar is added to cause an insulin spike to improve the absorption of the creatine. You can make your own celltech with creatine monohydrate powder and dextrose powder if you really wanted to use it.
  • Just make sure you don't beat yourself up when you do cheat. Without failure we would never know what success really feels like. I used to beat myself up if I fell off the wagon. I would feel guilty about it. I even felt guilty sometimes having a pre planned cheat meal. The trick for me is to make sure the good days far…
  • I personally think BMI is flawed and a waste of time when you carry more muscle then fat. According to BMI im overweight. To give you an example. Person A is 5ft 9 and 180lbs. According to BMI they are overweight at 26.1. But then lets say they are only 10% bf. That means that 162lbs is muscle and tissue and 18lbs is fat.…
  • Ah so not long then. Yeah don't get discouraged. It takes awhile to get used to. In the long run if you can get over that hurdle of motivating yourself it becomes awesome and means you can workout when you want to! My buddies in the UK (I moved to Canada) all train together still, about 4 of them at times and we all chat…
