I guess it's no surprise this turned into a debate about the ethics of being an omnivore vs. being a vegan. I think it would help if you stuck to the healthy stuff but thats the case with an omnivore diet too. I don't think vegan is a diet magic bullet. French fries are vegan after all ;)

I ate not one, but TWO donuts today. And I drank two beers when I got home. There goes mah goal for today!

Not super sure why you got offended. Let me rephrase, it was up to ME to not gain weight during MY pregnancy. And I accomplished it. Results may vary.

You don't have to gain a bunch of weight with pregnancy. It's always up to you, just like any other time. I gained 40 with my first. Next time I got pregnant I knew I wasn;t having that again. I focused on eating healthy and staying active. I wasn't counting calories. I gained 13 pounds total and had a healthy 8 pound…

This happens to me sometimes. If I can't get rid of it by drinking a glass of water then I will get up and have say, a slice of toast with peanut butter. I have found that hardboiled eggs work pretty well to satisfy too but don't always have them handy and I'm too focused on getting back to sleep to cook anything in the…

You're looking for a downward trend, not today versus yesterday so don't sweat it, weight fluctuates.

I don't see any reason to further sweeten smoothies when there is fruit in them. For tea I use honey if I want it but I got used to drinking unsweetened tea pretty easily. and for coffee I just use a little bit of regular sugar. A little bit being the operative term of course.

I have a Zip. I got it on the suggestion of my Doctor and it was only $50 so I thought, what the heck. It really is helpful. On the days when I'm lazy and not doing much if I look at that thing and go, "What? only 3,000 steps?" I get my butt up and take a walk. It works.

I've had good results with a Magnesium supplement called Natural Calm and I also do low dose (1.5mg) melatonin if I need it, even in the middle of the night. It's the only thing I have found that cuts through the repetitive thoughts that keep me up. Melatonin is well known for causing vivid dreams though. Doxylamine is an…

I use real butter. It tastes better, it's less processed. It's not like I'm eating it by the spoonful or anything so I don't worry much about the fat.

I did not, and wish that I had. I think it can be a great motivational tool.

Holy Guacamole I can't believe you walked around with a SAH for 3 weeks!! You are without a doubt the definition of strong...and lucky :) Happy recovery!

If you make a smoothie in the blender throw some in, you won;t even know it is there.

I've lost 40# and my face (I think) looks older now. The fat must have been pushing the wrinkles out :/

At least you are being honest with yourself. Call it a learning experience and move forward with your healthy lifestyle plans. It's just a bump in the road. We all have them. Especially when there are yummy Thanksgiving leftovers!

I wouldn't say a 30# gain is unavoidable. I gained 42# with baby 1. Number 2 wasn't until 10 years later. I wanted to avoid another c section, wanted to have a home birth, wanted to avoid the complications of advanced maternal age. So, I was very motivated to not gain a lot of weight with that pregnancy. I didn't know…

This is the nice thing about having a Fitbit, I don't have to think about what to log. I have MFP set to lightly active so I get credit from fitbit for anything over say 5,000 steps or so.

It's usually pretty obvious when pumpkins go bad. They get soft, moldy and start attracting insects. If the skin is intact, there's no mold or soft spots it should be just fine.

So awesome! It's so great to see the hard work pay off.

You can do it! I was 207# when I got pregnant with my now 2yo. I was determined to have a good and healthy pregnancy and wound up gaining 13#. After the baby, placenta and etc left I was 200# Unfortunately I gained 20# postpartum but hey, I'm here now so it's all good :) I had very little swelling, great blood pressure,…

Yup, normal.

Initially my goal number was just a weight I had been at before and felt good at (170) As I lost weight and gained confidence that I was going to stick with it I changed my goal to the upper end of normal BMI (150). I am 15 pounds from my original goal now and starting to see that body composition, not weight is gonna be…

I feel so dirty after reading this thread.

You can totally do it in a low stress way I think. Last vacation I took I came back same weight as I left I was so thrilled! Cut your burger in half before you start eating it and only eat that half. Skip the fries and get another side, Red Robins fries are awesome so steal just one from Hubby :) At the Hibachi place skip…

I just eat it. I like dark chocolate and have found that I am capable of having one square of a chocolate bar so when I want it, thats what I do. About 40 calories.

Oh for heavens sake it censored the word *kitten* a k e !

Bravo!! I am so gonna start lifting....

My chickens work hard to lay those eggs for me! Surely they would be upset if I threw the prettiest part away, so I eat the whole egg.

I don't have an opinion on the diet itself but 2 gallons of water a day is 4x the "general" recommendation. I don;t know what level of water intake sets you up for hyponatremia but I'd be worried that might come pretty close.

The only thing better than bacon is bacon dipped in chocolate.
