  • I was having problems with my FT4 a couple of months ago (wasn't detecting my heart rate). I did two things, not sure which fixed it: (1) made sure I wasn't wearing any lotion in the sensor area, and (2) made sure the strap was tighter. It's worked since then.
  • Hi there. I don't think these folks are accusing you of cheating. Communicating on these boards isn't the same as a face to face conversation so nuances can be missed. ;) Anyway, I'm sure you're measuring most of your foods, but I'm curious about the banana (just as an example). Each time it shows 105g. Is it just a…
  • Have you gotten your RMR tested? Assuming your condition lowers your metabolism (which would explain why you're not losing weight), this piece of information would allow you to determine what you need to do to lose weight, wouldn't it?
  • I swear, it's gotten to the point that everyone has some "disease" or some other affliction they blame for causing whatever perceived bad is happening to them.
  • I really like Jay Robb (sold at Vitamin Shoppe). I considered Optimum Nutrition but it has sucralose, which upsets my stomach. Jay Robb is made with stevia. It's a little spendy but it's got a pretty simple list of ingredients and has whey protein isolate (no concentrate, which also upsets my stomach). My Vitamin Shoppe…
  • Not at all surprising, unfortunately.
  • Aww, I love this.

  • Oops, I guess I totally misunderstood him. His post was far from clear, as everyone's pointed out....
  • I suggest you use the recipe option under the food tab (click the food tab, then recipes, then click the green box labelled "enter new recipe"). Find and enter each of you individual ingredients, which mostly likely are all in the database, to give you a tally for the full amount. For "servings", I would just enter 1, and…
  • Hydration. I get crampy (and have less energy) if I haven't had enough water, not just during working out, but throughout the day so I'm in a hydrated state when I work out.
  • This is why I use the average approach. For me, it's more sustainable because it fits my lifestyle - I like to be able to go out to dinner or drinks and taking it easy on the cals during the week let's me do that. When I was following a consistent daily calorie limit, I would have days when I'd go over and I'd feel really…
  • Exactly. In fact, I'm looking more at my 7 day rolling average rather than each day. I think it's more realistic and sustainable in the long run anyway (i.e., some days I'll have fewer calories, some days I'll have more, but it averages out in the short term to where I need to be).
  • I ordered an Ozeri from Amazon. It was pretty inexpensive (less than 12-15 bucks, I thinks) but I've been using it for a few years. Works well and does everything I need it to (tares, grams/ounces/lb/ml).
  • It depends. I will have some low days because I focus on meeting my calorie goal on a 7 day rolling average (i.e., calories may be high on some days, low on others, but average out to my calorie goal). The way I view it is that our bodies are not looking at calories in a 24 hour window necessarily - 24 hrs is just an…
  • It's not bad. I keep seeing on this forum that (1) calories on packaged and other foods can actually be up to 10% less than they really are, and (2) people tend to underestimate/miscalculate calories up to 20% lower. So given that, having a 1200 calorie goal would be totally fine. Given (1) and (2), I target a 1000-1200…
  • 30 mL=2 tbsp What I would do if you want to weigh it rather than using a measuring spoon each time is to weigh out 2 tbsp of the dressing and then you'll know the number of grams/ounces/whatever for future reference so you don't have to measure each time.
  • I suggest you search the forum posts for "1200 calories." This is probably one of the most-discussed topics on MFP. Many people have asked the same question you did...
  • I keep seeing this "eating clean" term but I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. Can someone please clarify? Is there a standard definition?
  • As a few others mentioned, I also don't log anything I don't specifically do as exercise. Even if it's pretty strenuous, I usually don't log it. My reasoning is that this will help counter any underestimation in my intake calories.
