  • A little over 4 years and 4 marathons ago...YES! I got started running doing C25K with the podcasts because I didn't have a smart phone at the time, my first goal was to run a 5K and crossing the finish line that first time got me hooked. I finished my 4th marathon on March 8.
  • Geez...I have no idea. Since I eat vegan from more of a dietary standpoint, sometimes I just say "take one for the team" and do the best I can. A great option too is for you to provide vegan friendly dishes for those occasions.
  • Not much excitement here most days. 9.5 times out of 10 I eat oatmeal with chia seeds and ground flax; other additions vary on what I have around the house. I will usually eat a sweet potato at either lunch or dinner, yes, nearly every day just because I like them. I also have at least 1 banana a day on the fruit side, a…
  • Clif bars or Larabars are good, if I need a meal I'll usually just try to find a Subway and get a veggie on wheat. I know it isn't the best option, but it isn't the worst either. Plus it is always fun to have to repeat to them "No...I really don't want cheese" and "No...I really don't want any sauce either."
  • Open diary here, I usually fill it at least 5 days a week, nothing really exciting to be honest, I eat mostly vegan most of the time, usually unless someone else is providing meals for me, I don't push it since they are just wanting to bless me, I simply receive it. Hope this works out for you guys!
  • We have some at our house for our son who has peanut allergies; he at least can now somewhat experience the beauty of a PB&J...or something similar!
  • I started this journey within a couple of weeks of 39 and the fear of turning 40 was a big motivator, that was 4 years and about 60 pounds ago. Feel free to send a friend request!
  • I saw one of those ads, I think it was on MSNBC, and couldn't help but laugh at the end of it...some people are just shameless. That is worst than some political ads.
  • Excellence! I went to my first spin class a couple of years ago and thought I was in pretty good shape after finishing my first marathon...yeah, not so much! But I've stuck with it and it is my go to cross training workout and I've even gotten into cycling as well because of it. Great job and enjoy!
  • I probably shop at Rue21 as much as our teenager, I like their jeans and a lot of their shirts.
  • Not from there, but I did live in Ellisville and Hattiesburg for a total of 6 years when I was in college in the early 90's.
  • I've had more than my fair share of those cravings and there have been a few times I've given in and my stomach usually pays for it over the next couple of days. For me, that may very well be the best reminder!
  • I hope things are going well so far on this first day!
  • I eat mostly vegan and all three of my marathons have been since going vegetarian (at first) 3 years ago; it has been a good move for me. I can't say it would work for everyone, but I like it.
  • Seems like most people eating vegan by default end up close to that with their macros. I tend to try to be more of 60-70 carb, 15-20 protein & 20-25 fats due to trying to add nuts & seeds to my diet; I've been focused a little more on strength training the last couple of months and this is working for me so far.
  • Wow! Those face pics look like 2 different people! Excellence!
  • I'm close to what MagicMike does, 15-18% protein most days, 20-25% fats and the remainder carbs. I'm no where near perfect and a work in progress, but it seems to be working pretty good. I've really started focusing more on strength training, so I'll see if I need to make adjustments as I continue on.
  • VEGAN TWINKIE!?!?! WOO HOO!!!
  • Good stuff!
  • I need to start doing that, I set up a pinterest a while back to find workouts, but I rarely use it. Thanks for the idea!
  • I am constantly reminding my kids, "Please don't talk to anyone about my eating habits..."
  • the price for a container of Nutritional Yeast no longer seems "a little pricey" and is now "a great value and an essential!"
  • For starters, I try not to talk about my eating habits as much as possible due to getting grief when I was losing what some thought I had lost "too much weight". But when it comes out that I eat plant based I assure them that I do it for me, for health reasons (my choice) and it has helped me out quite a bit in terms of…
  • Don't stress too much about finding out after that something contains milk, bread, etc. I've been trying to eat vegan for over a year now and I'm still learning to read those labels just a little bit closer and even now I still find myself saying "I had no idea that was in there!" I have an open diary, I'm not 100% with…
  • Toss up between Mad Dog 20/20 (any flavor) and the my best friend's mom homemade muscadine wine which tasted a lot like the previous...
  • I know what is going on my next shopping list, thanks! Vegan eating here too.
  • I haven't torn any ligaments in the ankles but I have suffered more than my fair share of ankle sprains over the years and the hardest lesson for me was to learn to take it easy and let it rest. IT WAS MISERABLE...but it was worst having to take more time off because I didn't allow time to heal either. Swimming and biking,…
  • I started with C25K about 3.5 years ago...I just ran my 3rd marathon, so the program works if you stick with it and believe that you can do it.

  • I've been using Emergen-C for the last few months, mainly because I was running with their racing team this year, and it does have a substantial portion of vitamins, including B-12. Sundown Naturals also has a Sublingual B Complex With B-12, it is a liquid that you hold under your tongue for 30 seconds before swallowing.
  • It depends on how much it is raining, I live in a low lying area, so it doesn't take much rain for the streets to start flooding. If it isn't a hard rain, I love it.
