I came across this old thread of mine today and thought I'd give you an update - it was in fact menopause. It took them a while to diagnose because of my age, it wasn't even on the radar. And I was oblivious that all crazy sympthoms were related to my periods as I've put down the irregular periods down to losing weight. It…

Thank you all for the replies, they help a lot!

I was thinking of checking with the GP but we don't go often, and brining her for this will definitely cause an issue. I haven't even asked her to step on the scale as I don't want to draw attention to it. Some girls in her class are chubby, some are skinny, she is definitely quite tall and well in the swing of puberty. I…

After 10lb couple of very close friends have mentioned it but they knew I'm trying to lose weight. After 20lb a lot of people started commenting, after 30lb even people I barely knew in passing were coming to me telling me I've lost a lot of weight:smile: I'm now 40lb down since November and everybody, including me, have…

My goal when I started on MFP was to lose the amount of weight my toddler weighs. I've done it, and a bit more, and every time I lift him up now is a reminder of how far I've come. I will struggle carrying him around for an hour though:wink:

It is realistic, and that's roughly how my weight loss went (I was similar weight and height, and started last March, have the exact numbers in my profile if you are curious;) Good luck!

Bookmarking for inspiration! Your meals are amazing!!

Very true! I'm another one who is a "re-starter" Joined in 2012 eating 1200 calories (set to lose 2lb a week:wink: when I was only in the mid-overweight range) Novelty wore off after couple of months despite dropping some weight, plus it's nearly impossible to fit any treats on 1200 calories daily, so eventually…

I'm just in for the updates \o/

I'd guess you are quite short based on these numbers, in which case your only options maybe either stick with 1200 or increase your activity so you can eat more. If your TDEE is 1400 and you have very small deficit, it's very easy to accidentally go over, so you have to be meticulous when logging! I have few MFPs who are…

It is very common for the scale to stay the same when you start new exercise, give it more time:smile: At your current height and weight a deficit of 1000 a day is quite a lot, I'd aim at 500 (1lb loss a week) or you soon may find yourself fed up an starving. If you are logging exercise manually in MFP calories are often…

This is perfectly normal, your body burns calories while you are asleep. I'm currently 150lb and burn approximately 1 cal per minute when asleep, so always have 400+ when I was up. Your fitbit is working correctly :-)

I'm on a tablet and still use the web version, not the app. You can install an alternative browser and each of you can use a different browser and save your login, saves you logging in and out  Or buy a second ipad:bigsmile:

You really need a kitchen scale, I was shocked to find out my portion of pasta, rice and good few other things, was actually two portions  I used to measure everything, now I'm pretty good at estimating and only go back to measuring every few months to stay on track (my estimations tend to slowly increase over…

Welcome back! You can do it, you really can! Find out what didn't work last time, and why, and try again! I'm a restarter too, took few months to get to my "old" point! This time I've been tweaking the rules, building a great support network and I'm going to maintain, this weight is never coming back!! Good luck

Just bookmarking this to read later!

I love clothes shopping and the fact I can pick up almost anything off the racks and look if not great, at least quite presentable in it. I love getting dressed - it's now "which cool top will I wear today" instead of "which one hides the two spare layers around my stomach best... not this one... not this one…
-
I have never heard of the 12 hour rule:wink: Break away!!:drinker: I had, however, noticed that if I eat late in the evening my weight is higher than expected in the morning (I weigh daily), this is marely some of the food still not being digested in your stomach and I just ignore it. The overall trend is consistently…

I think she (or is it a he?!) is not only rapidly gaining and losing weight in a matter of days and weeks, but also her/his height changes too:wink: Don't think you can blame this on a translator:huh:

No, it won't hinder your progress as long as you stay within calorie limits (my ticker is a proof ) However, too much junk food will most likely leave you feeling sluggish and tired, and therefore it will be harder to exercise and not overeat. It also has too many calories packed in tiny amounts of food so you will…

I didn't see the pictures as you have them taken down already but wanted to say nobody noticed when I lost the first 15lb, only couple of people commented but they knew I was trying so not sure if they were even honest:wink: Once I hit 30lb down everybody started commenting! It depends on how heavy and tall are you, if you…

Yes, you need a new trainer! Meanwhile read over some of the advice posted above, some excellent points

If you could explain how can one eat cupcakes, donuts, etc 24/7 AND be in deficit we'll all love you:drinker: Please! All I can manage to fit are couple of cupcakes a day:wink:

I'm the same with toast, can't control myself around it, can easily have 6 slices without even noticing! Now just avoid it

I'm glad to see this thread bumped as I've come a long way since I started it  I'm now 151lb (and 1lb away from goal, but will most likely continue aiming for another 10lbs or so) and size 10UK (6usa?) Thank you to all who posted at the time, it was a great motivation!!
-
Another thing is to take measurements if you haven't started already. My weight fluctuates quite a lot while measurements tend to be more consistent

Are you weighing your food? Every single thing? With your stats (28yo, 5'3 and 164lb) I get BMR 1445 and TDEE for sedentary 1733. I'm not sure how much your exercise is burning but if you don't weigh your food it could be that you are accidentally overeating
-
You look amazing, well done!!

I'm not being smart  but do run a search on the old posts, this question pops in at least once a week and there are some great comparisons done before. They are different devices aimed at different things. I have both polar HRM and fitbit One, and never use the HRM anymore while the fitbit is like an extension of…
