  • I don't eat two hours before going to bed because if I do I wake up in the morning with a super foul disgusting taste in my mouth. It's disgusting...but it's the only reason.
  • I was eating according to the numbers that MFP gave me for awhile and I lost weight. Then the weight loss stopped even though I was doing the same exact stuff. I went to several different sites, did some research on my TDEE, took that number and subtracted 30% and changed my numbers in MFP. Since doing so, I have begun…
  • Body Fortress. Buy it at Walmart and there are printable coupons on their website that make it super cheap. Toss it in the blender with a cup of skim milk and about 1 1/2 cups of ice and it is DELICIOUS. Cookies and Cream is my personal favorite.
  • A lot of people confuse sedentary with sitting at a desk-- if you go looking at many other sources about BMR and TDEE you'll find that "sedentary" really applies to someone confined to bed or a wheelchair. If you are legitimately hungry, starving yourself will only work against you and you should eat something--just don't…
  • I have a Polar FT7 that I have been using for about 6 months and I love it! I only use it for monitoring my heart rate and the calorie count and that is all--I know there are other bells and whistles but I don't use them and don't see the need for them. I prefer keeping it simple so I will keep doing it (the more…
  • I have been LOVING these: http://www.theyummylife.com/breakfast_bread_pudding Very good for you--and no sugar (other than what you choose to add for toppings) Bake 12 of the muffins at a time, then freeze them. Top with yogurt and berries the night before and put them in the fridge. Delicious!
  • You should eat them back... the program is designed so that if you tell it you want to lose, it will make the adjustment for you. I was not eating all my exercise calories back and I hit a plateau rather quickly. After a lot of research I saw that my mistake was NOT eating back all the calories I was burning. Your body…
  • Instead of trying to fudge a bunch of numbers why don't you put things in accurately and have faith that the program will do what it's supposed to do. I don't understand why you're even using this program if you feel the need to lie to it. Furthermore, a sedentary person is basically a person that spends their entire day…
  • This is all fine and dandy that we want to force kids to eat nutritious food, but my best friend who is a lunch worker at the school said they are seeing most of this fabulously nutritious food thrown in the trash can. I think it's possible to find a happy medium of foods that kids will actually eat and I think calling it…
  • You can add your own recipe as a searchable soup in the database and then it should come up when you search ingredients. Just make sure you give it a name that you recognize as yours because there are a lot of "homemade" things in there so it might get lost.
  • Water aerobics is VERY good on the knees and feet--that's what I do because I also have old injuries that make my knees weak. Doing specific strength training has helped but I don't like taking chances--knees are too important and you don't know how much you need them until they don't work.
  • Dr. Oz pushes a lot of crap... I personally think he's something of a quack or he's getting an lot of kickbacks. A friend of mine got sucked in and it didn't work. Nothing works for weight loss other than a good diet and exercise.
  • I recently started using white beans in place of half the fat in baked goods. I cooked them in the crock pot then pureed them in the food processor. This is the absolute BEST substitute I have found and my family doesn't even know I did it--you can't tell. It adds fiber AND a cup of white bean puree has only ONE gram of…
  • I agree! There is no way you will EVER know exactly without one. How many calories you burn depends on way too many criteria--your age, your weight, and your level of fitness. Two people working out/walking/jogging together will be totally different. No phone app, computer calculation, and no one else's numbers will ever…
  • I also log everything before I eat (in the morning). Start with a plan and then stick to it. It's a lot more fun to eat when I know I'm already within my calorie goal for the day. That includes eating out--I go online and make decisions about what to order and then log it before I even go. I prefer this method over logging…
  • Water aerobics! If you haven't tried it, you should... It is WAY harder than it looks, easy on joints, overall total body workout and with weights and gloves on I can burn 800 calories in one hour. Not to mention even though I am sweating I don't feel like I'm sweating, so I can continue to push hard through the full hour.
  • Have you taken measurements other than weight? It might be that your body has found it's set point and you shouldn't be trying to go any lower...that number is different for everyone and people tend to set random goals of how much they "want" to weigh without considering what your body wants you to weigh. If you are…
