Activity Level- suggestions?

Hi there,
A quick question. I am currently set to "maintain" my weight. However, I put in about 5 lbs. less than what I actually weigh and am going to get a small deficit that way. Does this make sense?

Okay, so on to my question- I am a college student and I walk to classes most days and walk just around campus to dinner and to the gym. It is all within about 1/4 of a mile. Should I count myself as lightly active? I tried sedentary just so I could lose a few extra lbs. but I am not sure if I am too hungry for that...

Thoughts?

Either try sedentary and see if you're too hungry or lightly active and see if you gain. I'd go with sedentary, but I'm cautious. It's hard to maintain.

Your other fudge isn't making sense to me. I'm not following the logic.

Instead of trying to fudge a bunch of numbers why don't you put things in accurately and have faith that the program will do what it's supposed to do. I don't understand why you're even using this program if you feel the need to lie to it.

Furthermore, a sedentary person is basically a person that spends their entire day in bed or sitting at a desk. If you're walking you're lightly active and if you're working out you're probably moderately active. But back to my original point--why bother at all if all the information you are entering is inaccurate? The program is working for a lot of us exactly as promised without all the fudging.

Put in your accurate weight and goal weight and let the MFP tools guide you. The tools work, you just need to trust them. If you want to lose weight, MFP will give you a small deficit to help you lose weight.

As far as your activity level, I'd put it in a sedentary. If you have a hard time sticking to the calorie limit, try putting it to lightly active and see if that helps.
  • I have a simular question along these lines. I'm a retail manager of a huge art/furniture/quirky food and kitchen store. I'm not a "sit in my chair and micromanage" manager, but someone who gets down and dirty on the sales floor. I re-merchandise large art, furniture, pull rugs, and other lovely things. I personally feel like I'm an "active" but was wondering if anyone thought that it'd be more "lightly active"
