I'm in Highland Home, just south of Montgomery, but I'm always in the city shopping because there is absolutely nothing in our community....sorry, can't help with the kayaking or other outdoor stuff, though.

Great job! Huge difference with just 40 lbs!

I'm game for any challenge...need more info.

What will they think of next? Obviously, not for people who are dedicated to changing their lifestyle to lose weight. Kind of for people of the mindset that they want "instant results" with little or no work. I see lots of problems if this product takes off.

I use an old one that I've had for years...it works just fine.

I tend to go over on protein and under on carbs and it seems to be working for me. I usually don't worry too much about it though...I just try to stay within my calories for the day. And it does get a little easier as time goes on. Some things I just quick add calories if it's something I eat on most days rather than put…

Wow, how insensitive! I'm so sorry for you loss. You've taken the first step in taking your life back...just know that you CAN do it and be successful. Sometimes, unfortunately, it takes a traumatic event to push us in the right direction. But it can be done and you will be victorious when you are motivated. I had way over…

Great job...you look fantastic!

I love mine because I am the only one in the house who drinks coffee. It was such a waste to brew an entire pot just for me. You can find the K-cups online fairly cheap. My only problem is right now my Keurig isn't working...pump stopped working...and I don't know where to take it to get it fixed!

You will never lose weight if you give up. Just keep at it...if you fail one day, start over the next. Just think of all the benefits of losing weight...especially having the energy to play with your son. You are right that you are not getting any younger...in five years, you will still be five years older, regardless of…

You have to find something within yourself to give yourself motivation. It certainly helps having people to cheer you on and help you through the ups and downs of dieting. Feel free to add me if you want.

It's been 26 years for me :frown:

I lost 30 lbs when I was 24--going from 150 to 120 and didn't have any loose skin or stretch marks. I'm 5'3".

I think I'll go through the pockets of all my old clothes! LOL

Don't know what your starting weight was, but it's most likely water. You lose faster in the beginning, and if you weigh more. I lost nearly 1 lb per day in the very beginning, too, but then it slowed to 1-2 lbs per week (some weeks nothing). So it all averages out.

Sugar-free jello with cool whip, sugar-free pudding, sliced up apple with sugar-free caramel ice cream topping (used as caramel dip). These are the main things I use to fight my sweet tooth. I, too, was raised always having dessert after dinner, so these have helped me.

I haven't read all the responses, but I agree with many who have said to go low-carb. I have cut back substantially on my carbs, and I normally go over on protein, and this seems to have worked for me. I am 52 and I've lost 70 lbs in 6 months, so it can be done. Some weeks I lose more, some less, but at least it's coming…

I eat between 1000-1200 calories per day and don't exercise much...just get on the treadmill occasionally. I also lead a sedentary lifestyle...so yes, you can lose weight without exercising if you maintain a calorie deficit. I've lost over 70 lbs in six months this way.
-
I usually have the opposite problem...when it's more than I expect I think it must be broken! But no, when the number goes down I just count my blessings!
-
I'm 5' 3.5", and while I haven't lost 100 lbs yet, I've lost 70 lbs. in the past six months. If I can stick with it, I will hit 100 lbs before the year is up. SW 268 CW 197 GW 130

When I go to Applebee's I order the 7 oz. sirloin (250 calories), fried red potatoes (150) and broccoli (50)=total 450 calories. Lots of food for under 500 calories!

Definitely more money from NOT eating out as much. Unfortunately, my car is still trashed from my husband and kids. I do have a pet peeve, though, about fast food. When we do stop at a fast food place, I usually order a salad. Why is it they don't offer more than one choice for low-calorie salad dressing? I mean,…

I love cats. I have three house cats, and an outside cat (stray) that adopted us 5 years ago that we care for. Cats can be very calming...especially when they curl up in your lap and start purring!

I looked into lapband and decided it was not for me. Without knowing you, I would say resort to surgery only as a last resort if you have exhausted all other options. But ultimately, only you and your doctor can make the decision as to what is right for you.

I think setting goals is really important. I set mini-goals at every 5 lbs lost, at every 10lb weight mark (230, 220, 210, etc.), and then major goals....under 200 lbs, half-way point, and so on. I also try to set NSV goals...such as a smaller size. These are the things that keep me motivated to go on. But I also don't let…

I'm 52 and I've lost 69 lbs since May. Still a long way to go...I'm only half-way there, but it is worth it. I "feel" younger with more energy, and many of the aches and pains I was beginning to experience are gone.
-
This morning I went back to the school I taught at last year and saw many of my old students and former co-workers and several commented on my weight loss! I didn't start losing weight until after school let out in May and most of them haven't seen me since then.

You have my prayers. I am going through a lot right now as well, so I totally understand. By the way, I am also from Alabama.

My experience is that you can't make people want to do something until they are ready. You say your husband is a big man, is fit and active. He *might* be losing weight, but you can't force him to cut back if he really doesn't want to. You might have to be happy that he's eating the healthy stuff that you prepare, and just…

I am at 1200, 5' 3", and don't have a problem, either. I am usually under my calories by 200-300 every day.
