Use a vegetarian plant based protein powder they are out there.

Is the purpose of this to increase his athletic performance or just to gain mass? They may be one in the same but not necessarily.

Skip it and eat a good lunch

Where is the pain? Try to describe it as well.

The OP was asking about protein supplements. It is my opinion based upon the weight of the literature that lean meats are the most nutrient dense protein source that you can consume; therefore, I recommended the OP take a look at lean meats before they seek to meet their protein goals through supplements. I also made a…

I don't think diary and seafood should be your main source. There is no problem incorporating them into the diet. Seafood is good for alot of different nutrients.

Not really as long as they are supplementing for Vitamin B12, Calcium, Iron, Zinc, essential fatty acids and your fat soluble vitamins like A and D.

I think so, yes. Eggs are good too.

We oven roast our veggies alot with a little olive oil and salt. We use broccoli, califlower, onions, peppers carrots, potatoes, etc. One thought is a green smoothie. I put a whole heart of romaine in my smoothies. Simple formula 1. Greens 2. Liquid (I use water but alot of people use different kinds of milk) 3. Fruit (low…

Your main source of protein should be lean meats, beef, chicken, pork, etc. For protein supplements to get to your protein targets I use whey protein isolate and whole fat plain greek yogurt which I add to a daily green smoothie. You can also add the whey to the greek yogurt for a little simple high protein snack.

I know that years back I researched this and I should have some references I'm going to look up. I would try to hit 3-4 cardio workouts, but try to do 10-20% of your time doing cardio in high intensity levels. For instance finish your run with some sprinting or maybe kettlebell swings. From a diet perspective if you are…

That triglyceride change is amazing. I would look up some ways to improve your HDL but review your cardio a regime and try to incorporate some foods for HDL improvement. You want your HDL higher than your triglycerides.

I think you should try to keep your diet very clean, lean meats veggies, eggs. My IF and resistant starch suggestions I think are sound. Try tubers (potato, sweet potato etc) and white rice for your carbs. Make the fasts as long as you can tolerate. Start with 16/8 then maybe go longer between carb feedings.

Not sure what your condition is; however, there is different kinds of fiber. If you have a intestinal condition you are going to want to do an experiment with the different supplements to make sure you don't irritate anything. I would suggest veggies and lots of them along with the higher fiber fruits including avacado.…

It never worked for me. If I don't count calories I will slowly gain over time or on vacations/holidays.

I'm a dedicated IFer. There is one way guaranteed to get you to lose weight, count your calories and make sure you are eating less that you are burning. IF is really more of a hunger control mechanism, you still need to make sure you are in a caloric deficit in order to lose weight. For me, I know my diet is on track if…

If you keep your carbs around 100-150 grams per day you can eat starches like potato, rice, etc with blood sugar problems. That is about 2-3 pieces of fruit and 2-3 servings of starch. This is still low carbs. But, you will feel more satiated with a little bit of carbs. The problem is if you are low but not very low you…

OP please read all the Getting Started best of. It will give you 98% of the information you need to be successful with your weight loss journey. You have to log well and stick to it over a long period of time. However, in a year if you stick to it you will be a total different person.

High fat will not lead to cholesterol problems. This diet is not even high fat 50-60%. I can almost guarantee the OP has low triglycerides and high HDL. OP your diet is almost exactly the recommendation of Perfect Health Diet by Dr. Paul Jaminet. You can check it out here: http://perfecthealthdiet.com/the-diet/ It will…

Most meats, especially lean meats, are mostly protein.

It counts it as whatever protein, fats, and carbs are in the actual item.

I would suggest going to a gym, hiring a trainer to set up a plan for you and get you on point on your form. Then start lifting and stop obsessing.

We weren't talking about diabetics. People with health problems should always consult their doctors. However, what you cite says "excessive" eating at night which is why the suggestion of 100-150 grams per day of carbs. Unless you have completely uncontrolled diabetes then you are not going to get many blood glucose…

Not necessarily true. If you are not overeating carbs in the last 24 hours your liver and muscles will absorb the sugar very well given rates of digestion. The key for most people who are not extreme exercisers is to keep your carbs about 100-150 which keeps you comfortably out of ketosis but leaves plenty of room for…

I'm aware. I'm also suggesting to stick with 1500. That is roughly 1.5 lbs per week.
-
I'm similar and have been at 1500 calories for awhile. Been losing 1.5 lbs per week. I have virtually no hunger. I would go with the 1500 calories. I eat back most of my exercise.

Keep it up buddy. You are literally saving your own life.

Here is your answer. You didn't count calories effectively or correctly that is what failed not CICO. It doesn't bother me whether you go low carb, no carb or 30 bananas a day, but you can go lower carb and count which is what I do and it works.

I agree.
