Ideally, we get 2 - 3 days a week of strength training, and 5 - 6 days a week of cardio. Often, on my strength days, I have just a cardio warm up before the strength, but on the days between strength training, I do a good hour of cardio. And the type of cardio varies...walk, bike, water aerobics, intervals. Mixing it up is…

I admitted I was addicted to sugar, and with divine help through the 12 steps from AA, I've been off sugar for 75 days now. The weight is steadily and gradually coming off and I feel great. A book called Prozac not Potatoes has helped me add protein to each meal in addition to complex carbs (no white flour either). 64 oz…

It's just great. You'll be able to keep it up the rest of your life.

Walking at that speed with the interspersed jogs is exactly the kind of exercise that won't burn you out, and will be enjoyable for the rest of your life. Probably want to mix up where you walk, and perhaps add a partner or two.

I've been doing them almost daily, just whenever I have a moment or a nice ledge.

I responded that I wanted to join a couple days ago. Now what do I do?

How do I join?

I'd like to take a spot for the August challenge. When do we report our goals?
-
My understanding is that you cannot spot reduce. The weight comes off of extremities first, then the middle, then the breasts. Don't give up! No matter what someone else says, just keep doing the right thing, and making the right choices. It's a journey, and we don't just stop travelling because we need gas or have a flat…

In like Flynn! 50 done!
-
Did 110 against a counter. Getting stronger! Also did two 1minute planks. Used to only be able to do 30 sec, then 45, now 1 minute! Progress is so great!

OK 100 push ups in some form or other.

Hi, I'll be a friend. I'd like to lose about 50 lbs. I'm just trying to stay in control and not binge on sweets anymore. I've been using portion control mostly, but also have added back in greens, rasp. vinagrette, almonds, sunflower nuts, dried cranberries.... all to try to ward off cravings for the wrong thing. I love…

Hi, Tom, I don't understand your post. It's like a different language! Could you speak/type in English please? new friend, Lori

Hi, just making contact. Have you been trying to lose weight for very long? What's your food plan? Exercise? I like to exercise.....I ride a road bike some days, walk some days, and I teach a water aerobics class two times a week. It's a lot of fun. Food is another story. Bingeing on chocolate or caramel has packed on…

Hi! I joined this month too, only about 3 weeks ago. It's a great site, easy to input food and exercise, and great community support. My favorite has been the Fitness and Exercise message board. Click on that and then scroll down to find Wednesday Mini Challenge! (or whatever day it is, except weekends). She gives you a…

Jumping hurts my knees too. See what I can do!

OK I'm in. I automatically did 50 already when I returned from my walk! So 50 down, 120 or so to go. :
-
OK I'm in!
-
OK I'll do it again, only more. So that could be 210 calf raises.
-
Done! 160 tricep extensions. Only 6 lbs here at home, but 160 times still felt like a work out.:ohwell:
-
I'm on it! At least 110 overhead tricep extensions!

Well, I ended up doing about 126 stairsteps, up and down my stairs. That along with the water aerobics and the hour long hike I took, has made me sufficiently tired, that I am calling it enough for today. [/quote]
-
I am trying climbing my stairs slowly over and over. It seems like the same muscle groups as squats. 54 so far.
-
Well, I'm going for a hike in our local canyon, so maybe the uphill and then downhill will help my quads some. I think I'll try some stairs cuz that doesn't seem to hurt and I'll go slow so maybe that will be kind of like a swquat.

What if squats kill my knees? I have arthritis under my kneecaps. Please tell me there is something I can do to strengthen my quads!

I'm taking them right now. They seem to lessen my appetite some. I'll weigh in Thursday a TOPS and see what progress I've made. Of course I'm also exercising and being careful with food choices, so hard to know what's doing what, but I really feel they have helped me curb cravings and appetite to some degree.
