  • I get the disappointment in having to postpone the beginning of your new, healthier life, but can I suggest you focus on this as an extended period of preparing for your new life? A lot of people on here had long pre-surgery processes and got into some really great exercise and food habits prior to surgery. Per what they…
  • I started my journey at 386, so almost 400. Haven't met too many on here who started that high or had to loos over 200 pounds like me. Nice to meet you!
  • At the stage you're in this is normal. If you are starting to exercise more, you are most likely gaining muscle while losing fat. Since a pound of muscle is physically smaller than a pound of fat, your scale may not move, but you will be losing inches/sizes. Measure yourself while you wait for the scale to start moving…
  • I didn't have that, but I did have stomach issues if something was really cold. I couldn't drink iced anything for a couple of years. Everything had to be warm or room temp. Finally this summer I was able to start drinking iced tea and water again without it bothering my stomach.
  • I know you don't want to hear this but some people just lose slower than others. I was one of those. My advice? Weigh and measure everything you put in your mouth, continue to be compliant with the program and don't push your boundaries, get all your protein in and make sure to get all your water in. Add exercise as you…
  • That's great progress! Congratuations!
  • I am 4 years out from the sleeve this past July. I'm not losing anymore, haven't in a year, may very well be in maintenance whether I want to be or not. But with 160+ pounds off since surgery, I am mobile again and healthy and that's the whole point of the surgery. I still follow the plan, weigh and measure a lot and find…
  • Great post my friend! Congratulations on your success!
  • Oh, I obviously missed your point. I too had some scary/nasty things happen to me as a kid, but I didn't start gaining until my 20's and really don't think for me my gain was about anything more than being a glutten, eating more than I needed whenever I felt like it and being too lazy to exercise. But I see your point. And…
  • Favorite is crushed pineapple in it's own juice (no extra sweetner of any kind), sometimes other fruit. Love it plain or with a little pepper too. I've also added a no calorie coffee syrup for a little sweet and flavor. Just a little or it gets too runny.
  • I must say, a 1/2 pound loss per week sounds like a good loss. Yes as you get closer to goal, the weight loss slows and menopause might have something to do with it. But as my surgeon said at the start, as long as something is going down (numbers on the scale, clothes sizes, etc.) you are still headed in the right…
  • I'm 4 years out, I had acid reflux prior to my sleeve, still do. I will still get a drippy nose if I either eat too fast or too much. If I eat slower and pay attention to my full cue, I don't get drippy or flemmy. Fast eating and drinking also make me nauseous. My advice? Slow way down, figure out your full cue and then…
  • Awesome advice Paula! I will walk downtown during the lunch hour on my own, but stick to open and occupied areas. I will walk my neighborhood, but same thing, open areas with heavily traveled streets. Walking any trail I always have at least one other adult with me. I won't even walk the trails with the grandkids unless…
  • Lori that's awesome! You are doing so good and I am very impressed with your attitude! Looking at the health improvements as being more important than the number on the scale is a victory all in itself! Great job girl!
  • Thanks! Like I said, there are different opinions on this, I'm only repeating what my doctor told me. Pat
  • There are different answers to this question. I can tell you that my doctor told me I could not stretch out my sleeve, that he had removed all the stretchy part of my stomach. He said as the stomach totally heals we can naturally eat more, it's because the swelling from the surgery goes down and he said that can take…
  • I started at 386 with a 20 pound loss presurgery. As the weight started coming off I got the occasional comment on being able to see the loss in my face, but I really think most people didn't "see" my loss until the first time I came to work in new clothes. Through this whole journey, I wait until I've gone down 2 sizes…
  • I had documented acid reflux prior to the VSG, so my continued reflux is not a surprise. I take a generic form of prilosec very succesfully. We tried to discontinue the reflux meds, hoping that the weight loss might have solved the issue. Nope. So I still take it every day. Now that I'm 59, one of the things we will be…
  • Paul, you've got some great answers here. I think it's an individual thing. I know there are some on here who once they hit goal no longer have to track and log daily and they do fine. That's not me. I have found that 99% of the time I need to preplan my food for the day, bring my own food, measure and weigh. If I don't, I…
  • Tink, that's scary and you are right to be concerned. I agree, this is not weight related, although if he has a type, you may now be "fitting" into it. If he shows up again, call the police, carry your phone with you at all times and maybe vary your route. Thaeda/Stephanie, I too kind of expected a little more positive…
  • Good points Thaeda! Since WLS I no longer "eat my emotions". I have no idea why this changed, but when emotional for any negative reason, I tend to not want to eat. My attitude sucks at that time and it's very common for me to say that I know I'm not getting my water or nutrition in but I just don't care, the scale's still…
  • Thant's awesome! Congratulations!
  • That's awesome!!
  • I preplan all daytime meals Monday through Friday while at work and bring my own breakfast, lunch and snack. Dinner is whatever the husband cooks, but since we shop together and he knows my requirements, it's high protein with very little to no carbs. Weekends are a little harder and frankly I tend to undereat those days.…
  • I will use protein powder in place of creamer and mix about a 1/2 scoop of Premier vanilla with a little water to make it a very thick liquid. When added to the coffee that way it doesn't clump at all as it's already a liquid.
  • Congratulations on the win! Sweet Victory!!
  • Curious. Can you or do you drink it black or do you have to "doctor" it?
  • That's so cool! Reminds me of getting my new drivers license last year because the picture didn't look like me anymore and some stores refused to take it as proof of ID.

  • I have no more suggestions than what you got above, but had to jump in here to tell you that you have nothing to be ashamed of. What courage it takes to admit you backslid and to do something about it! Be proud of yourself for taking back the control and getting back on the bandwagon! Good job kiddo!
