  • Ran 5.57 miles on the treadmill tonight.
  • I have a busy weekend coming up, so I needed to get my long run in tonight. Rocked out 7.06 miles on the treadmill. Thank goodness I have a show I'm enjoying on Netflix or I'd go crazy being on the treadmill that long!
  • Ran 3.8 miles on the treadmill, doing 4:1 intervals, while watching Netflix. Updated goal for 2017 is 505 miles, since I've committed to doing the Run The Year Challenge with a team. Running friends are bad influences ;)
  • I completely feel off the wagon in December (except that I ate very few sweets!), but it's time to focus on that marathon training plan! I'm shooting for 45 miles in January. My 2017 goal is 400 miles.
  • Ran 5 miles on the treadmill last night, which completes my long run for this week, since I'll be out of town all day on Saturday - eliminating the excuse, you know? And, I can drink the beer at Central Waters Brewery without guilt.
  • Ahh, a few days away and I miss eight pages! I may go back and read later, but for right now I'm just jumping in with my update. My family and I ran the Jingle Bear 5k on Saturday. It was 32*, no wind, and over cast - pretty darn nice for a December morning in Minnesota! I started out trying for a PR, but just didn't have…
  • Thankfully, I rarely have to take my car in for service. My husband does almost all maintenance and repairs himself. My legs are SORE today from the squats and plyometrics in my workout on Wednesday. Last night's run was tough with the leg soreness. So, tonight, my workout will just be yoga and foam rolling to try to…
  • @katharmonic I also have never tried cross country skiing, which is shameful considering I live in Minnesota. It's on my to-do list this winter. @ddmom0811 I read that story about the abducted California runner, too. These stories are why I have anxiety about running alone and pretty much never do it. So scary! @girlinahat…
  • For my last November check-in, I'm reporting 30 minutes of Les Mills Combat HIIT: Power (HIIT training with both dumbbells and bodyweight exercises - lots of burpees and squats). Running might feel tough tomorrow! Onward to December!!
  • Provided I follow my training plan, I should hit approximately 45 miles in December, so that's what I'm going with.
  • Well, I didn't meet my November goal, but I'm okay with that. I didn't completely slack off, which is what I thought about doing before starting training. A happy medium, I'd say. Congrats to everyone who DID meet and/or exceed their November goal! Woo! @dkabambe Beautiful pics! I love running by water, which is pretty…
  • I officially started off week 2 with 2.76 miles on the treadmill (plan calls for 30 minutes). It was slower than I hoped, because I felt hot being indoors. At least I got to watch a show on Netflix!
  • @MNLittleFinn Congrats on meeting your November goal, and for your PR! Props for running on the treadmill, but I'd take 40* and rain over the treadmill any day! @7lenny7 Thanks for the detailed comparison between your Fitbit and the Vivosmart. If I do upgrade, I would be looking at the Vivosmart HR+ so that I could replace…
  • @7lenny7 That Donut Day run sounds awesome, but I'm already registered for another 5k that morning. My family is doing the Jingle Bear 5k in White Bear Lake. Congrats on your running purchases this week! Please let me know how you like your Vivosmart HR; I'm thinking about upgrading to one from my Fitbit Charge HR. I've…
  • I purchased the NROLFW book a few years ago and read it, but never started it because I don't have a gym membership and don't really want one. Maybe I'll need to revisit that decision in the near future. My family is doing a 5k on Thanksgiving morning. We're now on year #6 of this tradition, which includes me, my husband,…
  • @kristinegift Sorry your marathon didn't go as you'd hoped, but in my eyes you're a rockstar. You fought through to the finish, when giving up would have been understandable and even expected by some. Your attitude about it admirable and I thank you for sharing your experience with us. Now rest up! @7lenny7 Thanks for the…
  • @7lenny7 It sure is a small world!! @MNLittleFinn I buy most of my running pants, including running tights, at Target. Their C9 brand is great stuff for really reasonable prices. I tend to get hot when running, so my layers are usually a thin base layer with running pants over. When it's really cold (negative temps), I go…
  • @MNLittleFinn Bring on the snow! Unfortunately those of us in the Twin Cities will probably get missed this time around. But, I am anxious to see how trail shoes work in the snow; if they work well, I'll be getting a pair of Gortex trail shoes for the winter. @7lenny7 I have friends in Miller, SD and my mom is from…
  • Oops, forgot to check in over the past week. I'm not even going to attempt to catch up on posts. Hope all is well for everyone! I ran 3.16 miles last night with friends. It felt slightly hard, but really good. The weather here has been PERFECT for running, though rumor is that it will be changing this weekend.
  • @MNLittleFinn For hill training, I prefer a light jog down the hill, but only because it's actually easier on my body. I'm one of those weirdos who loves running downhill. And, congrats on your mile PR! @OSUbuckeye906 Wow, scary! Stay safe! My friends and I run a path behind an old state mental hospital at night - night…
  • @Ohhim Incredible race, with a great finish line photo! Congrats! @Joanna2012B Congrats on your 5k PR! @jodilynnsanders5104 Congrats on your half marathon! @5BeautifulDays I think a 3:30 half marathon is pretty greatfor not training. Welcome back to running. @juliet3455 Hope your calf heals quickly. No running for me over…
  • @RunsOnEspresso Menards is my father-in-law's favorite store, too. The same guy who would totally use a treadmill to move wood. He's an interesting guy. Because he's in the construction trade, I'm fairly certain he goes to Menard's 6 days per week; sometimes more than once in a day. Obsessive. @Azercord Yay for getting…
  • @Calvin2008Brian I may put the tri on my "someday" list, but right now, my focus is completely on marathon training. One thing at a time! @katharmonic Having a good bike seat makes all the difference, and it's not about the level of cushion. My husband bought me a women's specific Surfas seat and I love it. My tush doesn't…
  • Good luck to Skip! @7lenny7 and @_nikkiwolf_ My father-in-law would love both of those uses for a treadmill, especially the wood moving one. He heats his house with wood and would find an old treadmill in a hot minute if he thought his wife would let him get away with it. He's always coming up with inventions to get things…
  • Welcome to all the newbies! I just joined the group myself about a week ago, so this will be the first challenge I'm actually participating in. @tiffmjo Welcome! I personally have a love/hate relationship with running, even though I've been a runner for five years now. I have moments when I love it and moments I hate it,…
  • I'm going for 30 miles in November.
  • @RunsOnEspresso Being stopped mid-race is awful. Those races aren't cheap and it's completely unfair! Sorry you had to experience that. @MNLittleFinn I love it when race schedules and training schedules match! Yay! @louubelle16 I don't currently have a Garmin or use Strava, so I track shoe mileage on runningahead.com,…
  • @MNLittleFinn In case you don't hear it enough, thank you for working in the profession you do. @mbaker566 Jump in and join those of us attempting our first full in 2017! @RunRachelleRun I've always heard that's it good to rotate shoes, but I've never heard anything about having different drops. Interesting. I personally…
  • @MNLittleFinn What is it you do for work? I work at a day training and habilitation program for adults with disabilities and volunteer as a therapeutic horseback riding instructor. @skippygirlsmom I was terrified of having to poop on the trails, especially at night, during Ragnar Trail. Thankfully, that was not the case…
  • @MNLittleFinn Congrats on officially taking on the full marathon distance! I look forward to sharing the joys and misery of training with you! @BeeerRunner I've often considered filming my kitty taking his shower and posting it on YouTube. My bathroom is in the basement of our house, so when I'm headed down there I ask…
