  • I'll add - I run 3 - 4 times a week & STILL, that first mile is the hardest. Its getting your body used to a change from the normal day - so stick it out, even when it feels tough. Get through that first mile & then your lungs adapt & its easier.
  • Good sort of protein are Almonds - Avacados - black beans - brocooli - Oatmeal - peanut butter - quinoa Protein powders can help as well Check out the guy from Engine 2 - he's RIPPED & he's a total vegan
  • Feel free to add me as well :) love the encouragement & love giving it.
  • Yep... I see I'm not alone. I'm 41 & when people ask my age, I instantly want to say 24... but I have grown up because I used to want to say 18 ;) but I tell you what - my body totally changed when I turned 40... I dont care for it one bit :) Feel free to add me as a friend... love encouragement & love to give it.
  • I usually weight before I put on my clothes for work... so that tells you what i'm wearing... usually socks. I even try to pee before ... & exhale hard before.. haha! Never know how much air weighs in the lungs!! :)
  • I love my Polar... i'm on my 3rd (They've each lasted me YEARS!!!!!) & my FT4 is my favorite. I paid over $65 for mine... & would again.
  • Thanks everyone!
  • You ladies are my hero... I'm 5'8 & my goal weight is 150. I got down to 135 at one point & it was almost too small for my body frame. Keep it up ladies!
  • I have to go to the bathroom... you guys want to go with me?
  • I love green smoothies.. I actually like when mine turn out PURPLE :) Put in all the greens, but add blueberries & strawberries... Purple smoothies are my favorite. But if you add enough fruit, it always drowns out the veggie taste.
  • Check out the Happy Herivore web site.. she's awesome... she's actually vegan, but the recipes are easy & great. She has a few cook books out too, but she shares some of her recipes. Also Oh, She Glows great place to look :)
  • I bought some, but always forget to incorporate them... I need to add it more often to my smoothies.
  • I too feel like its what your body is used to. I also have to eat before I work out or I'd not make it... but saying that, I have to eat about an hour before I work out to let the food digest. My husband can go out & run a half marathon with nothing in his stomach though. I think you always need something in your system to…
  • Beans are cheap if you buy them in bulk & dry... also, you can find grocery store brand in frozen vegetables for cheap. They got on sale for $1.00 a bag around here. You can mix those vegetables with the beans to make a great healthy dinner. Also look for frozen fruits on sale for smoothies. I know its hard to eat heatlhy…
  • I think its all different for everyone - how your body works & what your knee pain is. I have runners knee & an elliptical is so much better on my knees then a treadmill... but if you have other knee issues, maybe just that motion is what's so tough. Have you tried cycling? Does that hurt as well?
  • There are tons of videos that incorporate good work outs with little space. Just some weights & basic moves. Have you ever tried the "walking" videos where you march in place with some arm work? Try your local library - they usually have some videos for free. You'll definitely be focusing more on strength training in small…
  • I have a similar issue... I find if I take a squeeze ball or something to hold when I run, it helps ease it. For me, I have carpal tunnel & arthritis really bad, so my joints will swell & get tingly & numb. Try the squeezing thing & see if it helps.
  • I need to remember this myself - Thanks!
  • I'm also a Christian... but 41... BUT - I teach the youth group at my church so that definitely qualifies me to be in my 20's! ;) Believe me, keeping up with those kiddos & playiing those games we play, I GOTTA be younger then my actual age :)
  • I'm looking for all the support I can get myself - so let's support each other :) Good for you for acknowleding your health for your daugher. Awesome start!
  • I've been a vegetarian for over a year now... & love to juice when I can. tend to do it more during the summer then I have in the winter. But I'm also training for a half marathon & this is the first time without eating meat in my training. Interesting to see the difference. Glad to see other vegetarians on here :)
