Recognize that you don't have to give up the foods you love completely. Just moderate. Also, don't beat yourself up over a bad day or two. Find things to keep you busy...stay away from the television, work more hours, whatever you can to avoid boredom/depression binges.

Yes, I did continue to drink beer. Just not the vast quantities I used to. I drank because I was depressed. My life in Hawaii has changed that, and I no longer feel the urge to numb myself with alcohol. In fact, I didn't give anything up completely. I still enjoy burgers and cookies and what not, too. As with anything,…

Thanks all. Only 2 pounds to goal weight, but I'm hardly weighing myself any more. Getting a gym membership on Friday to work on muscle recovery and maintenance. Did some bicycle riding on hills, pushups and situps, but not near enough strength training, so I'm still pretty skinny-fat. Can't wait til the transformation is…

I want to thank you all for your comments. I am indeed happier, though a large part of that is thanks to my girlfriend--whom I'd have never met had it not been for my decision to make this life change. It was difficult, but worth every bead of sweat. Good luck to you all.

thanks, all. lol @ furniture. sucks scraping by in the Hawaii economy, but it sure helped with the weight loss. ;)

9 pounds from goal, and there is nothing I have cut out of my diet completely. I just don't eat it nearly as frequently, and never supersize my fast food orders. Personally, I try not to do it more than once a week at most, otherwise I start craving it, and that leads to bad things. Find the balance where you are not…

I don't think anyone suggested it was "normal." But there's no use beating yourself up about it. It's already done, so now he has to deal with it. The problem arises for most people when they do berate themselves for it, and then compound the issue with emotional overeating. Binges are going to happen with the vast…

For what it's worth, I'm less attracted to magazine models than I am to many of the "normal" ladies who come in to my store every day. I love women who do not want to mimic the supermodels, but are confident and happy with who they are.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Your blue fur is very fetching. ;)

If you're going to change your diet and do exercise, why do you need the pills? Just curious. I understand the desire to lose it as fast as you can...but the way I see it, is if you let yourself lose the weight gradually through proper nutrition and exercise alone, you develop good habits which will help you keep it off…

I'm all for it, if you can fit it into your daily calorie allowance. For me, I tend to binge if I do it too often. But I have it often enough to keep me satisfied...cause I love me some Wendy's Baconators. ;) Plus, I've had high blood pressure issues, so I try to keep the processed foods to a minimum, to keep my salt…

This. I still have fast food, occasionally...just not 4-5 times a week like I used to. I eat pizza, ice cream, cookies, Costco muffins...but it's all about moderation and compensating for it with the rest of your diet.

I eat it almost every day, and I'm less than 20 pounds from goal. :)

Yeah, and there are some boxers/wrestlers who are my height who have an LBM nearly that low even with a fair amount of muscle, so it's probably doable.
-
Thinking about it more, I guess it could happen, with a different body type than my own; perhaps I'm just trying to picture myself looking like that. I wouldn't think it is very common, though. It would definitely be easier for a woman, too, since they are naturally higher in bodyfat% and less in muscle%. Perhaps 35% is…
-
I understand that, but as a 5'7" male, 124 pounds LBM would require a ridiculously small amount of muscle, The only men I see like that are usually ill, and don't have much fat on them, besides. ;)
-
You would have to have a very slight build to be 35+% BF and still be in "normal" BMI. Normal BMI cutoff for my height is 191. In order to be more than 35% body fat at 191, I'd have to have a LBM of 124 pounds. My LBM is 150ish, and I suspect I'm about average.

Ate most of my calories early today, so when my brother asked me if I wanted to join him for dinner, I went along, even though I wasn't planning on eating...and I didn't.

I've got about 25 left. Most of my plateaus have been expected so far, based on the amount of salt or cheat days I've had. Hopefully that will remain true for at least another 10 pounds, if not more. Great job so far!
