"Eggnog blast with Billy" -- classic!! I actually am doing cross-fit, which is a very intense anaerobic workout system. I'm burning calories ALL day long. Maybe I'll call mine, "Cross-fit and the crutch" ha ha!

AWESOME!!! GREAT ideas, I can't wait to try 'em out! I didn't even know that Silk made Eggnog -- I'm ALL over that!! Many many thanks!! ~Brian

Ya know, it's kinda funny... I never even thought about looking at the "healthy" section of the menu, haha. I'm so ingrained in my unhealthy ways, it just didn't even occur to me at the time. Besides, I REALLY had my heart set on their new Florentine Ravioli w/Chicken ;) At least I stuck with water instead of soda or a…

That's so awesome!! I remember how I felt going from 250-ish (pushing 260) to 230-something. Seeing that different number in the 10's place is a GREAT feeling!! Keep up the great work!

I know we're all different, but for me personally it all kinda flows together. Once I start dieting & exercising, it makes me more interested in exercising & dieting. Using a site like this to track my calories and progress is awesome, because I can actually track my progress and see how well I'm doing. The other part (and…

I have the same exact problem. My fix is to cut up an apple and dip it in almond butter. I eat this slowly while I troll the MFP forums, lol. Before I know it, my hunger (and apples) are all gone. ;)

Ha ha, I'm driving from Idaho to San Jose on Tuesday as well, lol. My sister lives in SJ, right near the Campbell border. ;) Small world!

I honestly haven't even thought about it. I'll be traveling to Cali but won't stop working out. I'm just going to try and eat as healthy as possible. And when I have that big huge piece of apple pie a la mode, it'll be okay cuz I'll just pick right up where I left off the next day. ;) The keys are portion control and a…

I did better last night though... Went to Perkins for dinner, had the Mushroom Swiss Chicken with Broccoli and Asparagus. STILL it was 800+ calories though. GAH!! At least I didn't have a big piece of pie and ice cream like my friend did. Strangely enough, the chicken sounded a LOT better to me than pie. ~Brian

So in honor of Veteran's Day, AppleBee's was giving away free dinners to veterans. Both my dad and grand father are Army vets, so we decided to partake of their generosity. I was prepared to stray from my "diet" a bit, but I had NO idea what was about to happen... Chicken Florentine Ravioli: 1,320 calories! Chocolate Chip…

I have the same problem every day. Especially since I work from home and am at my computer ALL DAY LONG... My solution is munching on air-popped popcorn, nuts (almonds are best - no peanuts cuz they aren't nuts), sunflower seeds, apples, yogurt (like CARBMaster yogurt from Fred Meyer or Kroger), and nonfat cottage cheese.…

Without a doubt, 8 glasses is the MINIMUM. If you are exercising it could easily be twice that. Also keep in mind that during exercise your body uses and needs electrolytes, so drinking something like Gatorade will help to replenish that. The exact amount of water needed completely varies from person to person and with the…

I posted this in another thread, but since I can't link to it, I'll just copy and paste it here: Bon appetit! ~Brian

From what I've read and seen, this is how I understand it: To put it basically, if you drink "too much" water, you flush out a lot of the chemicals ("chemicals" might not be the correct term, so I'm using it generically) that your body needs in order to function (electrolytes, for example). This throws your PH levels out…

Yeah I've been having this problem lately, especially as my workouts have increased. As the ladies above said, eating more fiber and protein, and drinking more water will help this. I like to grab an apple and snack on that with some nuts (almonds, cashews, etc - no peanuts). Wash it down with a couple glasses of water and…

Oh there's no doubt that that's where I'm heading. But I'm okay with it cuz that's where all the cool fun people will be!

Haha, thanks! ;)

Oh thank god, I feel SO much better now about adding milk to my scrambled eggs and not logging it! Maybe I won't burn in hell afterall! Or if I do, at least now I know I won't be alone, hahaha. ~Brian

Me, I just started about a week or so ago. If that... ;) ~Brian

Asking about "Elliptical vs Treadmill" is like asking "Ford vs Chevy"... Everyone's going to have their likes and dislikes. This is a very subjective question, so the best advice really is to go to Sears or your local sports store and try 'em both out. You may find that you hate one or the other. Like most have already…

I think I might be able to offer some input from a psychological point... (I'm not a doctor, I'm just crazy, lol) To start, it definitely doesn't help if mom is enabling him. A person has to *want* to improve them self before they start to make the necessary steps. If he's not motivated to do so then nobody is going to be…

I'm on a pretty strict diet since I'm type-2 diabetic and trying to lose weight. I've recently started getting involved with Cross-fit training and the Paleo diet. GREAT combination of exercise and diet! So here's what I've been eating, as recommended by my doctor and nutritionist / trainer: - Eggs, no dairy added (whole…
