Love my Polar FT40. In addition to having the user-changeable battery, it also does a resting heart rate test to estimate your VO2 max which makes it more accurate than models that just use your gender, height, and weight.

I love my Polar FT40. Definitely get one with a strap - they are more accurate. Some calculate your VO2 max and are supposed to be more accurate, but they are pricier, and others just take into account your gender, age and weight.

[/quote] Quote: I've read lots of people saying that Fitbit's site gives them MORE than MFP... I wish that were the case for ME! lol Today it has on there 1088 calories I supposedly get to eat. 1088??? Seriously? MFP gives me 1350, though I just changed that to 1374 to match what I calculated as my BMR. Either way, it's…

I love it with vanilla flax granola and a few chocolate chips for dessert!! I also like it with fruit or honey.

I second the "whole wheat toast" bit, but put it under the broiler with cinnamon on top. MMMMmmm

I would add strength training. Building muscle will help increase your metabolism and get you back to real pre-baby. Initially I got back to pre-baby weight, but it was all in different places. I had lost muscle so I had more fat at the same weight, if that makes sense.

LOVE mine! My favorite part, honestly is all the cool graphs and stuff on their website. I'm very visual and I love that feedback! I find it pretty accurate compared to my Polar HRM for running, etc, but it's supposed to not be good for weights, yoga, cycling, etc.

I love my Polar FT40. Definitely get one with a chest strap. If you want more accurate and can afford a little more, the ones that calculate your VO2 max are even more accurate (it does a resting heart rate "test" to calculate it). Polar has a great reputation and the website has a way to track your heart rate and stuff,…

bump - can't wait to try it!

That was my question - are you wetting it enough so that you have good contact? Of not, that could be why you are burning so few calories, according to the HRM.

If you have access to a pool, running in the water is good - a lot of pools have water belts that you wear in the deep end and you run "suspended". Just be careful that it's not stress fractures, because continuing to run on those (vs shin splints) will definitely make it worse!!
-
I'm not sure how your insurance works, so you may needs to go through your primary care doc, but an orthopaedist would most likely be who you'd see.
-
Have you been diagnosed with shin splints? Sounds likely. I'd see your doctor. It could even be stress fractures. You could be doing more harm than good by ignoring it.

YES!! (New Best Recipes - I ALWAYS look there first. LOVE IT!)

I like Rodney Yee's Power Yoga DVDs - one of which has 3 25-minute workouts: Power Yoga for Flexibility, Power Yoga for Stamina, and Power Yoga for Strength.

We got a dollar, quarter, dime, nickel, and penny for each tooth. Don't know how the tooth fairy always had exact change, but she did.

No Pudge Fudge Brownies (it's a mix - all you add is 6oz of vanilla fat free yogurt). There's even the "recipe" for making one serving at a time. The mint ones are REALLY good - they're fat free and about 120 calories per brownie. You can even add some froyo for a "brownie sundae."

Make sure there is a whole wheat setting and some have places to add nuts/seeds/additional grains. Also, it's nice to have multiple loaf size options. Sometimes a 2lb loaf is too much - it spoils quicker than store bought bread.

From what I've read recently (Women's Fitness mag), your running shoes should feel comfy from when you try them on in the store. They shouldn't need real "breaking in". But, I agree with not changing up something right before a race, so maybe wait until after.

Welcome! You can friend me if you'd like. I'm a Mom of 2 (almost 6 years old and 3 1/2) and STILL working on the pregnancy weight! :) Just got back on the MFP wagon last week after a BAD summer of eating way too much.

When I was in middle school and high school, people would stop and whisper, thinking I was Jennifer Grey. Not such a bad thing, but it was pre-nose job. I don't think mine is THAT big!! Someone even asked once if I was Ferris Bueller's sister!

Chocolate and peanut butter together. Love them separately, but HATE them together. Family says it's unamerican to dislike it, but I dont get the fuss! :)
