I concur - thanks!

Yes - there's no reason to do "sugar free foods" on South Beach... If I could offer an alternative to South Beach - look up Primal/Paleo instead. Very similar (low carb), it highlights whole, unprocessed foods and thus doesn't even allow "sugar free" foods with that yucky a-word in it :) That's what I've been following and…

Bump - Thanks for both recipes!!!

Would you mind sharing please? I only have a recipe for almond flour pancakes and they were so-so. Thanks! Jane

Great, thanks for the info!

Thanks for posting these! Do you think I can substitute regular-full-fat grass-fed butter for the shortening? :) Jane

Thanks for posting - I don't have T1D but I passed this along to a couple of friends who do! :) Jane

Way to go Amy! Again, I just want to add that you continue to inspire and motivate the rest of us - I hope your wedding was/is wonderful!!! :) Jane

Very interesting - thanks for posting Amy! (And congrats on the very-near wedding!!!!!!!!!) :) Jane

I am so sorry about your loss :( Unfortunately, I don't have any advice. I was only able to get pregnant once in the past 7 years, which resulted in a miscarriage at 12 weeks. We did do 4 rounds of IUI as well, and I had to do Progesterone for a week after the insemination each time that was supposed to help the…

Hello friends - if you join the group "The Cook" on here, there's a Primal/Paleo reciple thread - some pretty good stuff is included! I also google a bunch of Primal/Paleo blogs for recipes as well. :) Jane

Is that the procedure where they put the dye through your fallopian tubes to make sure there's no blockage? Honestly, I have no idea if it's safe/unsafe, but I would DEFINITELY ask/bring it up with the tech/doctor prior to doing it. Good luck! :) Jane

Hi Kym! I'm glad you posted this topic!!! Seriously, since I went Primal last summer, I've been getting these - and I had no idea why! I'd love to see anyone else's thoughts/opinions. Love your puppy profile pic! :) Jane

Hey there, I just looked at your diary, (and believe me, I'm definitely NOT trying to slam you/anyone seeing that I am FAR from perfect), but it seems to me you didn't give it a month - I think you did an awesome job in getting in veggies and protein, but having bread everyday, and orange juice, smoothies, regular candy…

I am only saying NO because we have also been TTC for 7 years, and if I told you YES then that would mean I should give up too. :(

Just my two cents, but my "alternative/wholistic" fertility doctor who first put me on a lower-carb plan for my PCOS (before I found Primal/Paleo) had suggested if I'm going to eat higher-carb foods (i.e. fruit, or the occasional yummy drink from Starbucks!) to have it earlier in the day rather than late at night.…

I agree - nope. Even though I switched to this way of eating/lifestyle, I still log my food to watch my calories overall, as well as my carbs. I like to watch my calories just because I'm a little OCD :) and because if I start to slip up too much it helps me stay on track better. Carb-wise, my alternative-fertility doctor…

I'd like to request permission to adopt your rules too :) I'm more gluten-intolerant (I've never been actually tested for celiac disease which is why I've adopted that label). This is why I switched to the Primal/Paleo way of eating. But there are still triggers for me everywhere, and like you, I have the worst physical…

I am bumping for later too!!!

For me (at my chain grocery store in Cleveland) it's in the produce section, buy the vegetable dips (like Marzetti) and the less-chemicalized dressings that have to be refrigerated. It's nice because now it comes in 2 100-cal packs in each box, so I usually buy them when they're on sale and throw the extras in the freezer.…

I hear you on the hard boiled eggs!! :) I usually bake about 4-5 boneless/skinless chicken breasts on Sunday (with different spices depending on what I want), and then just take/reheat and eat with some veggies for lunch. The Wholly Guac is good too, and I also usually make twice as much dinner for my husband and I so that…

Sorry - that sucks. People who don't know anyone close affected by infertility for who don't have the problem themselves have NO IDEA how comments like that make us feel. Hang in there, Jane

That is DEFINITELY a NSV and AWESOME!!!! :) Jane

Thanks for your story - Mine is the exact opposite of yours - I did the drugs/infertility doctors/4 rounds of IUI first with no luck. The past year I've been doing all the things you first did, in hopes that will get my body ready for IVF next summer. Thanks again for sharing! --Jane

There are also at least two PCOS groups on the boards - they're great support! --Jane

I can totally relate! We have actually been trying to get pregnant for 7 years now. About 5 years ago, I did only 1 round of Clomid and got pregnant, but had a miscarriage at the end of the first trimester. About 2 years ago, we did 5 rounds of IUI with all the injections, meds, super ovulation/stimulation/etc. with no…

^^^ made me laugh - we unfortunately had to move from Seattle to Cleveland - no fresh wild caught salmon anymore! I'd LOVE a fish fry!!! :)

Hi there - I actually don't have all the symptoms of PCOS to technically be diagnosed, so although I wasn't put on any formal medication, by changing my diet (you can google "PCOS diet" - there's a couple of books out there) I lost 50 lbs over the past year. Hang in there, and good luck! :) Jane

This is the one I use - basically I combine my shredded mozzerella or pizza blend cheese in a bowl with some oregano and other pizza-spices (garlic powder, etc), and then cook it on medium-low in a non-stick skillet almost like a pancake. It will start to brown on the bottom and slightly bubble on top, and it will only…

Wishing you luck on this journey! Is your doctor (or someone else) helping you with the nutritional side of PCOS? If not, definitely look into that part of it! :) Jane
