I have a special meal called Cheats and Rewards just so I can log those moments I indulge in a special treat. No guilt logging it because it is acknowledged as a random event rather than a ongoing sneaky addition.

If I eat it I add it, it was deciding that certain calories didn't count that got me where I am today :-)

I'm an older teacher in New Zealand. Have taught everything from 5 year olds on their first day at school to Year 13's on their last day of High School. I currently teach English at the local all girls High School as well as being a year level dean. feel free to add me if you wish.

Squeeze juice of half a lemon into your water bottle and sip on that when you get a sugar craving, Strangely enough if you get the ratio correct the lemon juice tastes sweet!!!! I find the more I eat sweet treats the more I crave them so for me it is a case of suffer and avoid /deny for a few days and then the cravings…

There are a lot of us out here who are borderline Type 2, in my case it is age and weight related but with the model of my grandmother who controlled hers through diet until the grand age of 97 I know it is up to me to do something about it hence me being here on MFP. My son on the other hand can do a certain amount…

At 91 kgs I was wearing size 18/20 (NZ) depending on the cut, shape and fabric. Currently at 80 kg and declining I am wearing size 14(NZ) trousers but still need a size 16 to meet in the middle around the generously endowed boobs that developed with maturity ( some would say old age :-) )

@Nice guy I'm sure you are but probably more of a match with my daughter so sorry dear, NO. jumped down the queue - still old enough to be your mother as well.

Down here in New Zealand that is a staple dessert known as Self-saucing Chocolate Pudding, I have grown up eating it but have never thought to throw it in the crock-pot. Thanks.

I've been waiting for 60 years to find my waist...it is never going to happen, genetically I am straight up and down. It wasn't there when I was a young slim thing so I don't imagine it will arrive now.

Definitely count it especially in the hot weather we are having! Wrestling with the vacuum and dodging the dog that is trying to kill it definitely uses up calories as does cleaning the windows, ceilings or floors. I also count the steps I do climbing up and down to my classroom and the staffroom and I did those while I…

I have the same problem, I have only managed to be under for sugar in the time I have been using MFP. I have cut back a lot on the fruit I eat and replace it with vegetables so hopefully that will help. I'm not sure that the theory, " it is from fruit therefore it is okay" works when you have hit the pre-diabetic diagnosis…

2..5 kg fluid loss is not excessive, it can be anything up to 5 kgs p.s. dehydration is what causes hangovers to be as bad as they are for those who get them.

Sorry if you don't get the metric measurements etc. New Zealand is metric not Imperial in its measurements and weights as well as it's money.

okay, suggest away for a couch potato just turned 60 years young female who has an elliptical trainer in the lounge in front of the TV, loves food - all food and gets bored going to the gym so no longer has a membership. Lost 10 Kgs without exercising but have reached a plateau. ( I can manage a 5 Km walk without any…

Having read this I don;t feel so bad now, I was losing doing no exercise and now that I am exercising nothing appears to be moving. New Mantra - "Patience, persistence, perseverance"

I am a similar height with different measurements, however, I would suggest that the reason for this is I have a much higher ratio of body-fat to muscle than you possibly do. Remember theoretically muscle weighs heavier than fat. If you have measured and weighed yourself accurately why worry about other peoples opinions…

When you find the answers please let me know as well. I have a family where if one will eat something the other won't. It has improved somewhat as they age but still not easy. When they were younger I found grating hard unpopular vegetables and including ( hiding) them in acceptable meals like Spag. Bol. worked well. They…

Thanks, I will re-enter leaving out the word cross.

I teach teenagers, my own not teenage daughter keeps telling me it's time I grew up....I have no intention of doing so. My grandmother at 97 still wasn't 'old' and I plan to be the same.

Morning all It is a rainy summer's day here in New Zealand this Tuesday morning. I'm a day ahead of many of you. Had to remind the princess dog she was not going to melt and yes I did expect her to go out in the wet stuff to do her business. The other one who is not so precious was straight out without a seconds…

Hi all from New Plymouth, New Zealand. It's Monday evening here while for many of you it is still Sunday. Love having this thread to read through while the grandson (5) is watching cartoons on a rainy day. Feeling excited as I purchased an eReader yesterday so can again read in bed and a cross trainer today.

Thanks for these suggestions.

I lost 15 Kgs using Jenny Craig and kept it off for a year BUT I didn't make the mental change to make it a lifestyle change rather than a diet so 5 years later I had put on more than I lost. Doing it this way I am not obsessing about what my next meal will be as I finish the one I am eating nor am I planning ahead to when…

The way I resist temptation at home is to either not have things that tempt me in the house (biscuits) or allow myself a small portion and record it on MFP in a meal I have labelled cheats and rewards. Resisting temptation when you are out does get easier with time as you retrain your brain and taste buds. If you "fall off…

Hi, I find I tend to hang onto weight or gain it if I am stressed or not getting enough sleep. Congratulations on stopping smoking I gave up 25 years ago and you are definitely over the hardest part. ( I smoked approximately 70 a day) I didn't notice any huge gain in weight when I gave up but my goodness I chewed a lot of…

Didn't matter what I ate I was never 'full' and 5 minutes later I would want to eat again. Then I discovered chia seeds. Soaked in water and added to smoothies or sprinkled over cereal and my life has changed. I am losing the weight I need to get rid of and no longer feel like eating the furniture from sheer hunger in…

I have been drinking green tea for years - weight loss coach at Jenny Craig suggested I try it when I hit a plateau. It worked I started losing again. Over Christmas I indulged myself and drank coffee , no weight loss, this week back on the green tea and losing weight again. I drink around 8 cups a day but make it very…
