Good to hear your thoughts. I think the issue is- that I am losing more SLOWLY and as cwolfman pointed out, because the deficit is smaller (since I am smaller) the margin for error is TEENY TINY it feels. Add hormonal fluctuations from week to week and I can easily see how some weeks I am not seeing the numbers drop. And…

Congratulations on your health! That's what its all about!

Congrats! Must have felt good to be able to be proud and comfortable in front of all those people! Good for you :)

To the OP (and others who hate water) I wonder if it has to do with the water you're drinking. As someone who has grown up with really good (mountain spring) water from the tap... I was truly horrified at what other water tasted like (coastal water, well water especially). It was scary gross. Had a smell and everything.…

I'm 5' 6.5" I haven't done progress pics for a while so I can't post that. I have found that slow and steady works for me. I make progress, I take a break and maintain it, then I make progress again. Not all of my life is gonna be steady loss! There are season (like the holidays) where maintenance is a victory! I started…

I feel like this is an issue with moderation. Once you have achieved a healthy weight and actviity level, it is not AS MUCH work to maintain it. Weight LOSS is a lot of work, weight MAINTENANCE is less work. My suspicion is that this person got skinny through some crash diet, or fad diet, or some marketed system. And…

I get my NROLFWtomorrow and am just starting the lifting journey as I keep on my weight loss journey. CANNOT WAIT. Thanks for the inspiration ladies!
-
Good for you!

Thanks everyone for your input- it's already helping :) I've ordered NROLFW and its coming from Amazon. I found a lifting class at my gym to get me started (thought they only did cardio). I'm gonna hit those websites you all mentioned and start watching videos. Research, I can DO! So excited- thanks!

I have EIA and I hate take meds... but will take it in this case. I've scoured natural and homeopathic remedies and just NONE of them touch asthma. If allergies are contributing, then controling allergies helps. If environmental things are contributing then changing the environment helps. Cold, dry, outdoor air is the…

You know, I hear that. And I'm a newbie so who knows, perhaps I will eat my words one day! But I *feel* like there is a difference in the emphasis of the muscle groups they want to focus on, the strength they assume in certain muscle groups (and weakness in others). The weight load itself. And especially lower body…

That is a really good idea. Sad to say- did not occur to me that my gym might have one of those. All the classes I see are Zumba, Yoga etc... But because you posted this I checked- and they DO offer this once a week. Sign me up!

Thanks for the pointers! :) I do have a gym membership- haven't been a while.... But I have it! Only thing- my experience has NOT been that the people at the gym are "happy to spot" or "happy to give pointers".. I've actually only experienced high pressure sales from the "trainers" around the gym- and I question if they…

I'm 9 months PP and i've had 2 babies so I understand the drive to lose that weight! (Especially when you worked so hard to be a healthy weight before). Just want to encourage you: slow and steady wins the race on this one! It is amazing how our bodies have their own mind PP. I've hit my head into a wall trying to lose at…

Part of the reason they advise nothing strenous- is that your pelvis and uterus and ab muscles don't begin to return to a normal location until at least 6 weeks. Straining earlier than that can cause permanent damage. So light activity is great- but lifting etc... probably not yet. The reason (again) is that the act of…

Why is it that most people can have a cocktail or two and be done, while others cannot stop? I mean that seriously! I think we all have unique bodies and minds... and we all have different biochemical responses to different foods. I think for some people, food lights up their reward centers in their brain JUST a bit more…

I only started getting comments from close friends and family as I neared 30 lbs. Colleagues etc still have said nothing ;) I assumed it was because it was rolled into my baby weigh loss so they were afraid to... But maybe they're not sure yet.

I've never had it. Not when I was dancing and in killer shape with visible abs. I'm an hour glass- and appear to have larger hips... But alas, my legs don't seem to go there. So... Capris and reasonable hem lines for me! It's ok, I have other assets ;)

I applaud your bravery and positive attitude. Plus it sounds like you have a great and loving partner! Kudos to you!
-
You have done amazingly well! What an inspiration :) I am also curious how tall you are? You are beautiful before and after. But obviously so much stronger and healthier after!
-
Thanks :)

Bump!

I'm sorry I'm new at this. Could you explain- lean mass can't be muscle only? That would be too much... I must be missing something.
-
Well I'm no expert but I have a scale at home that uses an electronic pulse to measure your fat/water/bone/muscle %
-
This is interesting. I'm glad I asked. I would have never thought 20% body fat would be so many women's ideals by the charts online!
-
Lol. No, I meant the other PP.Sorry! I'm posting as I ref the kids. Distracted. ;)
-
ETA- I just realized... PP are you maybe confusing BMI with body fat %?
-
I'd love to hear the research about ideal body fat % for fertility. I am losing weight (in part) to get pregnant so this is particularly applicable for me!

So inspiring! You look beautiful in both photos but no denying you are worlds tinier and more toned in the second. Once I hit goal weight I'm on the heavy lifting train! Did you tell your trainer you wanted to lift heavy or is that just what he recommended?
