  • To give an alternative perspective I've been doing meal replacement for a while now - originally complete meal replacement (4 shakes a day) and now 3 shakes + one high protein low kcal meal. It's worked wonders for me and have lost 94lb but it's clearly not for everyone. I also use MFP/their own meal planner to understand…
  • I'm in for this. 2nd: 60 Mins 3rd Jan: 44 mins 4th Jan: 60 mins 5th Jan: 80 mins Total so far: 244 minutes - 17% of target
  • Time for another quick update.. Now lost 82lb - another picture to show how it's going.. Also did my first 5k on Saturday - 44 mins and doing another one next week to try and see if I can improve on that. Feeling bloody brilliant, life is great right now.
  • Got mine yesterday. Like the poster above - it seems decent, it works well - but I do wonder if I really needed it! ha
  • Good to read this. Also doing LighterLife at the moment and have lost 63lb. I have cheated a little bit though - but generally have stayed on track. Well done on keeping it all off after so long - makes me feel bad when you see people come back to class after losing such a huge amount and put it back on.
  • Thanks all! Feel great & very happy at the moment.
  • I do tend to think that lots of people on these forums are very judgmental about how people may chose to lose weight. I have a food problem and have tried all sorts of ways to lose weight inc. MFP but have ended up giving up or getting back into old habits. I'm currently going through my most successful stage of weight…
  • Thanks all. Seems like I am aiming for around the right weight to start with but am also going to get looking into some way of checking the body fat % - potentially with some new scales to start with!
  • Also how do you calculate your body fat % ? Are these via special scales (appreciate I can google this and find the result!) and is it reliable?
  • Thanks for the replies. To answer the specific question from psulemon - I am 5ft 7lb and the aim is to be off the VLCD (Lighterlife) after 25 weeks. The main goal outside of the weight loss is mainly to get more exercise and especially on the bike. I have entered the ballot for the Ride 100 next year.
  • Can't really help on this topic but I am on Lighter Life and lost 36lb in 5 weeks. Works really well but we'll see if that is the case when it comes to management and keeping it off. Have 8-9st to lose.
  • I'd agree completely with this. For what it's worth I am 4 weeks into a VLCD called Lighter Life. I started at 300lb and have lost 31lb so far, with the overall aim of losing 125lb by the time I go into maintenance. The reason that I picked Lighter Life was because of the weekly group sessions that do go into the…
  • For what it's worth I started Lighter Life earlier this week - which is a VLCD but not a medically supervised one. I am very overweight and a few days in I'm actually finding it pretty easy to stick to and the expectation is that I will do it till around Christmas, perhaps slightly after, so that I can aim to loose between…
  • Yikes. I pay £75 a month for Virgin Active - it's a lot of money but there are not many gyms in central London with a pool and means I can go to any of them over the country, which helps as I travel a bit with work... So far this month I've been over 15 times though - so it's less than £5 a visit and the classes are free…
  • I've never bothered adding water to the diary - is there a good reason to do this?
  • Also looking for more friends, so feel free to add me!
  • And apologies for the misspelling of the subject!

  • We have a similar problem of getting bored and having the same thing time and time again! Do you have a slow cooker? Found some great receipes on pinterest for these and so easy to throw everything together. What kind of food do you like? English, Indian, Italian, etc? J

  • ndj1979 - I've been overweight all my life - so yes, was eating more, or rather eating the wrong stuff! Plus I don't have a job that involves moving so definite lack of exercise. I don't think I have a problem eating the 1,800 calories on their own, but throwing exercise in every day and trying to eat less is where I am…
  • Thanks all! Really useful advice. Any suggestions for higher calorie foods that don't have much fat in them / are the "right" kind of calories?
