  • I have them too! I actually started noticing them before my weight loss but didn't really acknowledge them until I started to take care of my body, so who knows maybe yours were there before and you just didn't notice? Either way, the good news is: No one will probably even notice! And if you have friends who point them…
  • thanks for the replies, does it matter in terms of the time of day? Or before/after workouts? I know these things can really affect scale weight so wondering if they affect pics as well?
  • good luck on the rest of your weight loss :)
  • First off you are not a failure! I hate how MFP goes red when you go over your goal, it's discouraging. But you are not a failure! Every good decision you make is a step forward and they all add up. Unfortunately MFP likes to set 1200 cal for a lot of people :/ I lead a very active life and it still set me as 1200 cal in…
  • yes there IS such a thing as too much water (water intoxication) and it can kill you! However just drinking water at your desk you will probably not drink enough casually to hit this level. If you are worried though, maybe add in a few drinks with electrolytes. An imbalance of electrolytes is what is the reason for concern…
  • Went to walmart today (in Canada) hoping they sold BF % calipers but no luck :( I'll check the links posted for amazon and hopefully find one for a decent price :) Thanks again for all the advice!
  • My thought is that you should be eating this amount :) TDEE -20% is a great method :)
  • I would eat more. The 1200 cal goal is if you are eating back your exercise calories you should equal out to 1200. Personally I think this is even too low. I did the 1200 cal (plus exercise) for 2 months and I did lose weight, but I hated dieting, I woke up with hunger pains during the night, felt weak during the day, and…
  • great advice, thank you! :) I know weight fluctuates a lot so it would make sense that it would be the same for BF% :) I'll just look at the trend and hopefully I can get it to go in the right direction ;)
  • Not sure if someone already mentioned it... but another option would be to call the gym and ask them what time they are typically the least busy. This might help you to feel more comfortable as there will be less people around. Also this would be a great opportunity to ask the staff for help :) They want to make sure you…
  • wow that is odd! I can understand that as age increases you might need a different BF% depending on hormonal changes and stuff like that, but odd for % to change :/ I just thought it was like a percentage of your weight that was body fat. disclaimer: not sure if I make sense lol
  • At least this website only gave me one response! :) according to this I am 18.9% :) I entered in my starting measurements and it says 36.3%. I still think I'm going to buy some calipers though and double check, but it will work for now :)
  • hey welcome! :) this is completely possible! Make sure you log daily and log everything you eat (even the 'bad' days). Also please realise right now that this is going to take a while (took me 8 months to lose 50lbs), but it is DEFINATELY worth it!!! Even those days where it feels like it's not worth it, it is! Just take…
  • I would recommend that you save your money :) I looked up the program because it became a trend in the city I am from. What I found is that those who were selling it were either: 1. in shape... but had been in shape prior to starting 2. not in shape... and still not in shape after doing it for X # of months. yes it is true…
  • This is off the original topic but I would like to point out that she may not have always been skinny. I moved back here after I lost weight and people who met me after my weight loss believed I was always a 'natural skinny' person. I've actually received some pretty nasty looks when I give advice. But I guess that's just…
  • You should NOT be starving and tired all the time! Eat more please. I did the 1200 cal thing for a few months when I first started and I hated it, I was cranky, my stomach woke me up grumbling at night, I had dizzy spells and no energy to focus and workout.... Never again. Look up 'eat more to weight less'.
  • I don't have either issue however I would like to say that you are all AWESOME for pushing forward despite these medical conditions. OP please consult your doctor as he/she might be able to advise you on proper nutrition or direct you to a nutritionist :) But in my non-medical opinion I hope you keep pushing forward. These…
  • I was similar to your story! :) You can check my profile for my cal goals along with my monthly weight loss to give you an estimated timeline :) To sum it up, after going from 1200-1700 I lost 7lbs that month! :) This might not be the same for you (everyone is different) but it definitely put my mind at ease! :P
  • I refuse to give it up. Not happening..... :noway:
  • I love my relationship even more! :) I have a very supportive fiancé who has been there with me, supporting me and my choices the entire way :) One of my happiest moments was when he picked me up to carry me into the bedroom cause I was sleepy... and I was light enough for him to do it without struggling :) It felt so…
  • OMG! I am never scrapping my skin with steel wool, that just sounds horrible!! I lost 50lbs and have stretch marks, but not too much lose skin so can't speak from experience there. However I would just recommend focusing on your goals right now and how much you have accomplished! :) We will always find parts of our body we…
  • You have 5 months, 15 lbs is definitely possible :) Personally though I would say to stop the shakeology. I disagree with these types of plans because eating at a deficit will do the same (and cost less). The problem with meal replacement shakes is that you don't learn long lasting habits. Once you stop those shakes, many…
  • according to your profile you are only aiming for 14lbs, you should reset your goal to lose 1lb/wk. Remember it's not a race! :) 2 lb/wk is the maximum recommended, since you are closer to your goal your per week goal should be lower. Also please check out: http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/ MFP set me…
  • is there a university of college in your town? if so go check online right now! Many students are heading home for the summer soon and if they don't have a place to store their stuff they tend to sell it for really cheap! Someone probably has a mini fridge! :D
  • this reminds me of a former roommate I had who bought no groceries for 8 months and instead ate all of my food! After a while I figured out that he went for the 'easy' stuff first. Blocks of cheese? full boxes of granola bars? 4 Litres of ice cream? 1/2 a loaf of bread? a full box of cereal? He even ate 2 full boxes of…
  • what are you calorie goals set as? when I first joined mfp set me as 1200 cal and although I could get by... I was so hungry and wanted ALL the food!!! I did some research and increased my calories to 1700 after 2 months of the 1200 cal thing. I was MUCH more satisfied then and less tempted to want to eat everything lol…
