  • I would recommend you start with small changes in your activity routine, and not try to do anything drastic that you can't keep up with. Try taking the stairs more or park further away when you park. Add a few walks with your kids outside or play with them in the house. Do things that don't feel like exercise to get your…
  • Easiest Chili Ever: 16 oz Can Kidney Beans, 1 lb Lean Ground Beef, Chili Mix, Onion, 16 oz Tomato Sauce Brown hamburger and onion together. Mix in everything else. Let simmer for 1/2 hour or so. I split into 4 servings and it's about 280 calories/serving. Use Ground Turkey if you want even less calories. I also add a…
  • I regularly work out at the YMCA and there are always pregnant people working out. I also take a kick-boxing class and there was one woman who was there pretty much all the way up to 9 months and she came right back a few weeks after. I also have a cousin who was at the gym when she went INTO labor!!!! Definitely talk to…
  • I keep a variety of breakfast bars in my cupboard at work and just eat whatever I'm in the mood for (I have some chocolate, some peanut butter, some fruity). Also - when I'm home, I typically do toast with some jelly on it.
  • As long as you weigh in at the exact same time, once a week, it doesn't really matter what time of day. You should just try to keep it consistent from week to week. For me, the morning works best!
  • Hmmm.... good point.

  • Popcorn is a good option. I always feel like I can eat as much as I want without really feeling too guilty.
  • It's only been FOUR days and already you're discouraged? You should only weigh in ONCE a week, not every day. Our weight flucutate from morning to night from day to day. So please don't get discouraged that you haven't lost anything in 4 days. Remember, this is NOT a fad diet, it's NOT a way to drop 50 pounds in a month.…
  • I've been doing maintenance for a month, and I get 1940 calories a day... are you sure you calculated it right? I have been able to maintain and actually most days have trouble getting in all my calories, especially if I work out. Maybe I'M doing something wrong. LOL
  • I for some reason feel the need to post again... to just say that there is no such thing as a food you CAN'T have. You can have anything you want, but it's about portion control and compensating. If you allow yourself 1700 calories on the weekend and eat pizza for every meal, so long as you stay within the calories, then…
  • "Dieting" should be done at a pace that you are comfortable with. If you need more calories on the weekend and are aware that the weight loss may take longer, then I think you are 100% not cheating. You are doing what's right for you. I would say as long as you are still entering your calories and not just throwing the…
  • I would just sit your mom down and tell her you are serious about losing weight. Tell her if she wants to pack you a lunch, to try and keep it to xxx calories. If she ignores your request, throw away the lunch. I know that it's hard to throw food away, so give it away if you can't bear to throw it. This change to your…
  • 1. This is forever. Eating healthy isn't something you do until you lose the weight... it's something you have to change in your life. If you eat heatlhy and exercise for 6 months, lose 40 lbs and then stop eating healhty and exercising, I can guarantee you will gain the weight back. 2. Plan. You have to plan ahead... if…
  • Changing your mindset is the biggest hurdle. Once you get over that and view food differently, everythign will change. I remember when I started on 1200 calories and was so hungry and couldn't believe how anyone could live on that. NOW - I am tryign to maintaing (2000 cals a day) and it's hard for me to get them all in!…
  • Good things come to those who wait! :) Part of the benefit of losing weight slowly is that it changes your eating patterns and habits. When you lose weight quickly, you don't change your habits/patterns, or if you do change them for a short time, you quickly revert back to old/bad habits once you lose the weight. 1 lb a…
  • I quit smoking a while ago (3 years in June!) woohoo! It was really hard. All I can say, and all I say to my friends quitting is that you can NEVER SMOKE AGAIN. You just need to get that in your head. Don't drink so much that you convince yourself that it's okay to have "just one drag". It's not ok. You need to quit, for…
  • I agree with Jillian! You need to pay attention. If you can't remember dates, come up with a system to help you. It's not about the money you spend or the present itself, it's the idea that you thought about that person and picked out something you thought she would like. Even if it is just a card. Pick one out that says…
  • Losing weight takes work. If it doesn't, you're not doing it right. It's a HARD lesson to learn, but until you're ready to WORK, you'll never be able to do it. If you're going out to eat, go online and check calories before you go. There are things you can do at restaurants to make things healthier (i.e. order dressing on…
  • it's 2 oz - uncooked. And yes - about 1 cup cooked! :)
  • I had an OMG moment when I went to a spaghetti dinner benefit and got home and realized my 1 plate of spaghetti was probably close to 600 calories. Holy Crap!
  • I found the best way to try to curb hunger is to eat less more often. I eat the following: 9 am - breakfast 11 am - snack (usually fruit) 1230 - veggies 100 - lunch (soup or frozen dinner usually) 330 - snack (usually yogurt) 630 - dinner 900 - snack (usually popcorn) Also, if I know i'm going to work out, I'll eat a few…
  • The calories you are allotted each day, does figure in a certain amount of calories burned based on your activity level. Even if it is sedentary - it still figures calories burned based on walking and whatnot. Sooooo.... my answer would be that unless you are planning on changing your activitiy level, I wouldn't count…

  • If I'm craving salt, I do Turkey Jerkey. V salty and delicious!
  • Turkey Jerky is another one... you get an ounce for 80 cals (I think). It's high in soduim, but now in cals. There are lots of 100 calorie packs, although those aren't necessarily the most nutritious items... they can help in a pinch. Maybe granola bars too?
  • There is a plethora of healthy recipes on this site, and others. I usually stick to a low-fat protein (chicken or pork) some veggies and rice/potatoes for dinner and lunches I do a frozen dinner and veggies. Try to suplement all your meals with a veggie of some sort. My advice to you for eating out, is that whenever…
  • Good work on the 20 lbs!!! I am in the same boat... I lost a bunch of weight last year on Jenny Craig and then after the holidays decided to join this site to try and lose the extra I'd gained back... I vowed to stay on it for 6 weeks, and I'm already well over 8 and can't imagine quitting. I'm obsessive about entering my…

  • Are you just having a hamburger? That looks to be only 270 calories (per this site: http://www.shapefit.com/hardees.html) Maybe just a hamburger and small order of fries (340) and you can keep your cals around 600. You can also save cals by taking off half the bun. :) Maybe you should try to get in a workout before you go?…
