I love that you reinforced the idea that everyone is different and it's important to discover what works for you. Also, that we should never give up. Thanks!

fabulous work!

I have a cheap scale. But, I make sure it is accurate by placing weights on it and making sure it is telling me the same number as the weights are. My policy for weighing is ONE day a week (Mondays at this point) and first thing in the morning, naked. My scale stays hidden under my bathroom sink. If I leave it out, then I…

I also agree with the people who said cheating on your marriage and cheating on your diet are not comparable. Weight loss and getting fit is a life style change and of course it won't be perfect. If you cheat during your "diet" then you just haven't progressed toward your goal for that day and you are only hurting yourself…

I call them "mental break" days. Which tends to happen on the weekend for often than any other time. I don't go overboard... but it's a day where I don't work out, I don't count calories, I don't do house chores, I don't do laundry, I don't do work, etc. I just relax and give myself a break from things here and there. I…

Great job! Go get 'em tiger!

Great ideas guys!. Walking to and from work is not something I am willing to do while it is -20 and snowy and icy, though. But, in the spring I am def going to start doing this more. I do not have time to watch TV, otherwise I would just do some activity while watching it, like someone mentioned. This is part of my…

"Everyone who got to where they are had to begin where they were." I log my bad days so that it helps put it into perspective. I ate whatever I wanted this weekend knowing I had fallen off the wagon... surprisingly I did not overeat the way I would have in the past. Try to not let yourself feel deprived or hungry.

oops, I lied. I drink coffee too. UGH. Now THAT is something I want to give up forever.

Diet anything is bad for weight loss. So, turning to diet soda is not a good idea for sure. I only drink water and milk. I slowly got into the habit of always ordering water when at a restuarant because the guy I was dating at the time would do that. Overtime, it just became a natural thing because it was healthier and no…

Being healthy is great, but I think most people bust their butt at the gym because they want to get healthy AND lose weight.

my weight is not on my driver's license. YAY (in Canada we don't include that)

I am not a sweets person... BUT when I crave sweets, I find these 3 things helpful and have worked for me in the past: 1. pineapple 2. tea with a bit of milk and sugar 3. DARK DARK chocolate! (like 80%)

Zumba is a funny thing because there are so many variations. I have a hard time following videos. But when I first did zumba in person I hated it. I could not get the foot work right, the music was too "salsa-y" for me, and after 10 minutes I panicked and thought, "There is no way I can do this for an hour!" I did it…

I agree! I walk in with my hair done, makeup on, and dress pants on. I change and throw my hair up and get to it. I do not care what any guy thinks of me.

I do not want men even looking at me while I am at the gym. I am there to get fit, not be a piece of meat.

are u wearing the same bra? i want to lose weight in my breasts haha

Yes. I would consult with a doctor perhaps. You can do damage to joints, muscles, etc over time.
-
It is true. I do not have refs to back it up but I studied this in my psychology courses. Basically our body doesn't know the difference between actually starving and "dieting" so it does what it can to help us survive.

wow this confused me a lot. apparently I have been doing everything wrong...

Provide her with encouragement. Point out the small things. Tell her you see differences. Point out her small achievements. Work out more together. Etc.

That is a lot of weight fluctuation. I would stick to weighing yourself in the morning ONCE a week on the same morning to have a better idea of your weight.

No idea. BUT my friend was having stomach issues (she is already really thin) and decided to cut out dairy and gluten to see if it would help and she dropped another 15lbs! And I thought, "Damn! I should try that!"

I just wanted to announce that all night I thought about getting chips and dip tonight.... and was planning too. Instead, I had a protein shake, rice cake, and apple sauce. I went over my calorie limit but I feel SATISFIED and am not craving chips anymore! :) Harm reduction! Thanks for everyone's input on this topic. :)

It isn't that I "can't"... because I am doing it. I barely go out and eat these things. However, I find myself always wanting them. And every time I want them there isn't much point going every single day and trying to have JUST some because something clicks in my and makes it more difficult and I then want to binge eat…

My plan is to still have these once n a while for a treat... my issue is though if I do a small portion of something like that it intensifies me wanting more and more

I do the same thing. I even planned out which four days I COULD go this week. I did two of them... and now cannot go for the third because of time and something unexpected came up (job interview early in the morning) but I will be able to go for my 4th day. Anyway, I obsess about it too. It is that feeling of "not doing…

I would take care of your health first.
