Stop obsessing about how you look.

I swam off more than 20 lbs in the past 2 years. I can now wear a bikini (if no one is around). I'm 67.

I weigh every day and log food every day. Keeps me accountable. I am at my goal weight and have been for many years. It is because I weigh and log every day. I started out at 189 lbs 10 years ago so I know how bad things can get if I don't keep a close eye on myself.

I'm 65 and wearing a bikini this year for the first time in 30 years. I only wear it when I'm all alone in the back yard in my pool and no one can see me :) But I'm wearing that bikini!

I'm old school. This hangs over my desk. I've recorded for years. I like to go back sometimes and see how I'm doing at holding steady. As you can see by the times I have a serious problem with what time I get up in the morning. I'm working on that, too.

I have no problems at 1,200 cals per day and it is not starvation at all. It's my maintenance calorie allowance. I'm also 5'3" and weigh 130 lbs. In order to lose weight I have to be at about 1,000 cals a day. I have a busy life but no formal exercise.
-
It is harder as we get older but you can do it! You seem determined!
-
I don't think it would have been better at all. My mother berated me over my weight throughout my teens. I was 5'4" and weighed about 150. It certainly made things worse as I got older.
-
I would keep it as it is a reasonable goal to get into it and it might be a good incentive. In fact I would hang it up on the outside of my closet so I saw it every day as a reminder to stay on point.

You sound like you are on the right track, Zara. Just don't be too hard on yourself :)
-
Personally I think you should just do what you do--exercise and eat right--and not get so obsessed with figuring out complicated math calculations to determine how much you should be losing. Sounds like a great way to set yourself up for disappointment and derail your program.

All I can say is one of those scales is seriously broken if you are showing a 15 lb difference between the two. Get a 3rd opinion from another scale. That or just go with the one that shows you weigh the least :)
-
Just fantastic! You look great! You're an inspiration!
-
Put the scale away for at least a month. The scale is your enemy in the beginning and has derailed more good intentions than it has ever helped. Stay on your plan. Don't give up or you might boomerang to a weight much higher than where you started. And that will not make you happy.

Maybe if they like to crossstitch and watch old movies.

Has anyone ever told you how much you look like Jeffery Dahmer?

What Cutaway-Collar said. That you even asked the question makes you look sick.

Welcome! This is a great tool and a you will get those 2 stone off in no time! Best of luck to you. And I love the title of your post. It's just what I needed to hear this morning.

Just say NO to OTC or prescribed diet pills! They ruin your health, mind, and in a short run of time you will gain back any weight you might lose and then some. They should be outlawed. I have never ever known ANYONE who had any long term success with diet pills.

me too! Glad to see I'm not the only super early riser!

Where is your research that it takes 7-14 days? This McDonald reference you make--where is the article? Are you talking about McDonalds fast food? Or is this a person named McDonald? Or are you just going by your gut-feelings or anecdotal experiences?

Like the member above me said I weigh every day unless the day before was off track because I too don't need the negative feedback of seeing a false 5lb weight gain. I try very hard not to have 2 bad days in a row--or more than 1 a week. I lost more than 60 lbs about 6 years ago and have kept 90% of the weight off by…

I'm with you! Except for the running and climbing part. I will have to stick to indoor low impact exercises due to health issues. But 5 lbs in a month is exactly what I would like to lose! I will be following a low carb high protein diet. Let's do this!
-
Totally agree.

I lost 60 plus lbs in 2010-2011 by following low carb, high protein diet and using MyFitness Pal to monitor all cals/carbs. I've kept it off for these past 5 years and still monitor every thing I eat on MyFitness Pal because if I didn't the weight would start creeping right back on. Other than staying busy with my job and…
