I commend you for your attention to strength training while losing weight. The benefits to this when it comes to weight loss are often overlooked, but definitly invaluable for many reasons. As others have said, work with the deload aspect of the program, and the app will tell you when it's time to deload so long as you are…

I think I really like cake and well-made burgers.

Right. The excercise itself doesn't burn calories like cardio (you're working your musculoskeletal muscles vs cardiac muscle), but it does, over time, increase the BMR and therefore increase calorie needs. More muscle mass=higher calorie needs.

Wouldn't matter if the increased cost is directly levied against the employee.

I've been doing SL for 5 weeks now. So still "new" I guess. At some point it makes sense that I wouldn't be able to keep up with the same progressive pace.

That makes sense. I think the weakness is the initial lift off my chest. I don't feel I have the arm/shoulder strength .
-
That was helpful. Thank you. I guess I'll be bringing my measuring tape to the gym to make sure I have correct hand placement lol. Oh well/

It's not necessarily jerky, I feel it in my shoulders near my chest, so anterior shoulders if that makes sense. I do the hole push-your-shoulder-blades-together and arch-your-back-a bit-form.

It is possible to be fat and healthy for a short period of time. Prolonged obesity is nearly guaranteed to cause a multitude of chronic diseases. It's like saying that wearing a seatbelt isn't 100% going to protect you. It's not much of a debate in that regard. So therefore, the debate isn't about if it's healthy to be…

I know a lot of people have said that exercise has worked for them. I don't have a link to it now, but I've read a good study on treating depression with a.medication only, b. medication and routine exercise regimen and c. exercise only. Thinking that b. would be the most beneficial, it was actually found that over long…

That thing's way off. To burn 3000 calories, most people would have to run for 3 hours straight. Think about that.

I would do that. And I would then suck out all the delicious caramel goodness that gets exposed when it's bitten into like that.

Sweets.

I drink heavily maybe twice per year. Mostly, probably because I do drink so sparingly, I'm really not good with hang-overs. Hangovers are not worth it to me. They put me out of commission for at least one or two days, severely dehydrate me, etc. I've found that these episodes lead to me not eating for an entire 24 hrs…

That would be interesting. The problems I see from this would be finding people that have the same fitness level and, muscle mass and body fat percentages to begin with; otherwise all of those variables will make it impossible to come to any conclusions.

I've noticed that a certain pair of scrub pants are now getting pretty difficult to pull up over my legs. I'm sure there are different brands of jeans and pants that fit differently and therefore you will find some that feel/look right. Just means trying on more clothes.

Maybe this explains the cold - intolerance experienced by many who are formerly obese

The physiology of it is black and white. All the things you mentioned have various levels of influence on said physiology.

Could be not being hydrated enough, sinus problems to tension headaches. Obviously you're going to have to see a DR.

I know what you mean. The Y I go to has almost every LM class and I see what you're saying. Your instructor should be Reminding everyone about making personal adjustments. Personally, when I feel that my legs (usually it's the legs) are fatigued or a certain joint starts to feel weak (it's not usually a matter of not being…

I am now paying for not doing weight lifting while being a runner. So, that's my answer. Weight lifting /weight training, particularly your legs. If you can simply Incorporate a program like Stronglfts 5x5 to your running regimen then you will preven injuries , improve your overall running as well
-
Running a few miles in the evenings is hardly sacrificing them. If it's truly important to you, you'll find a way to fit it in.
-
Well, da-am.
-
Well, you're on the right track if you've already lost that amount. Your life is definitely busy. That being said, when there's a will, there's a way. Making fitness a priority means you will find a way to make it fit into your day. Even if it's a few days a week, you can do it.

I definitely agree with this. I do think though that numbz was not stating not to weight lift. Toning is not the same as weight lifting. Toning involves calisthenics and low weight high reps for muscle definition and OP Shouldn't expect toned results with a high body fat percent. So do real weight lifting. It's invaluable…
-
Walk, bike, and lift weights until you feel like you've lost enough weight to physically be able to do calisthetics. You can also modify push-ups on your knees and what not to work up to it.

Guys, take it from me. Full body lifting (squats, deadlifts, etc.) are of top importance if you're a runner. I severely ignored this aspect of running to a point of being banned from running by ortho and now having to go to PT for who knows how long due to suspected IT band problems...KEEP YOUR LEGS STRONG. As others have…
