  • That shouldn't be a problem. I've been doing a version of MIchael Eades Protein Power plan, so I already get between 100 and 120 grams a day most days. Even though I have my macros set at 20, 30 and 50, it's not uncommon for me to go over on any one of them. I'm unconcerned about going over on the protein or fat and just…
  • Yeah, I did this high protein diet for a little while at the beginning of the year. I ended up gaining two pounds, which really isn't much, but I lost like 3 inches off both my waist and hips. That should have made me happy, but I freaked about the 2 lb gain. I'm going to try my best to temper myself this time around and…
  • Thank you so much!
  • It's all good. I got some answers now and I think I have an idea of where I need to go even if I can't do it just yet.
  • Okay, I think I have a decent idea of what I need to do. I don't really have the money right now to add too many weights or get the cycle ops, even one of the cheaper ones. For now, it looks like I'll have to continue doing close to what I'm doing because of time, money and Alaska weather, but I'll definitely see what I…
  • Herein lies the rub. I don't know if I have the stamina to do more than the light circuits and body weigh exercises I'm doing. I don't have a lot of equipment. What I have is a set of dumb bells up to 8 lbs and the 8 lb ones already tax me quite a bit so I don't use them too often. I also have resistance bands. I have one…
  • Wow! A lot of conflicting information. Uh some people asked for additional stats. I'm 5' 5" tall. Yeah, my goal weight was originally 115. Right now, I don't know what my goal weight is. At 135, I can already get into a size 2. In the past, I've had to get to a much lower body weight in order to do that so while I'm not…
  • Right now it would be virtually impossible because I home school my kid and have only so much time. This summer, however, I will have an additional 6 hours freed up so I don't see why I couldn't bump it up to 90 minutes or even more. By low intensity, what I mean is I'm doing those Leslie Sansone walking videos. Maybe low…
  • Thanks for the information. I really do appreciate it. I'm using the USMC formula for body fat percentage which uses 5 data points. It is supposed to be within one and three percentage points of being correct. I'd love to do water displacement to find the real number but there is no where to my knowledge here or within 7…
  • I think I've been patient enough. Is there anyone who could answer this?
  • The light weights do what I want them to do. I see no need to increase them.
  • This sounds so very cool. Thanks for the heads up!
  • We got back from vacation 10 days ago. Like you, while on vacation, we ate all sorts or horrible stuff. When I got back, I just went back to my regular diet. Aside from a bit of left over lethargy, everything seems to be getting back to normal. Other than walking, I haven't really done any exercise since getting back…
  • Thanks for your reply. It is really frustrating. I suppose maybe I will go for 130 then.
  • I only have one. It's called Walk This Way. It's very beginner but it works for me for something to do in the winter when there's snow all over the ground. I add 1 or 2 lb dumb bells to a lot of the moves for a little extra and it's really easy to incorporate them into this one.
  • My husband likes to have two boiled eggs and a piece of fruit in the morning.
  • I've changed mine up to track fiber and saturated fat instead because I was getting a fair amount of sugar from fruits and veggies too. I don't have blood sugar problems and even if I did, I only eat low glycemic load fruits and veggies anyway so, yeah, I don't bother with that one any longer.
  • I used to run track back in high school but I am by no means an expert. However, I've just started running again after almost 20 years (I did other types of exercise here and there.). But for several years, I was pretty sedentary and was having some of the same issues you're having. After a google search, I found a page…
  • Haven't gotten this so much now but I see it coming at some point if I get to my goal weight. I did get this when I lost down to my goal weight after having my son. "You need to eat. You look anorexic." I'm 5' 5" and my goal is around 120. I have a small frame so 120 is not unhealthy. The most recent comment I've gotten…
  • My husband had to be put on a low carb diet back in April and since I had some pounds to lose decided to try it too. I lost close to 20 pounds in 2 months (May and June) but it didn't really work for me because I got super depressed. At the beginning of this month I was also getting physically ill. Those first two weeks…
  • Ghirardelli - 60% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate Chips is my go to for sweet and chocolate. One serving is 16 chips and comes in at 80 calories.
  • The main thing you need to think about when building complete proteins on a vegan diet is to combine beans with grains or nuts. histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine are the amino acids which make up proteins. Animal proteins contain all of these so they are…
  • I eat the heck out of Amy's soups. They don't have BPA in their linings so that's not an issue. My naturopath said that they're a great choice for a quick lunch and he has advanced training in nutrition so I'll take his word for it.
  • I started this a few weeks ago but found out real fast that I'm too out of shape to do the 1 minute run/1 1/2 minute walk so I'm doing 30 seconds of running and then 2 1/2 minutes of walking. I haven't really improved from there because I haven't been able to get out 3 times a week. I'm doing 2 times a week but I'm hoping…
  • Age 40 Height 5' 5" HW while not pregnant: 177 LW around 105 in high school CW: 148 GW 135 UGW 125
  • I think it's altogether possible. There are 4 people in my family. My husband and daughter are both solid and muscular but gain most of their weight in their belly region. My son and I are both very small framed and have what you referred to as the runner body. In fact, I ran the mile and two mile in high school for our…
  • I eat a lot of fruit too. I've actually taken my food logs from here in for my doctor to look over. He didn't say a word about the amount of fruit I eat. He was, at the time, more concerned that I wasn't getting enough fat so... I'm going to assume it's not an issue particularly if you exercise so that you can metabolize…
  • Maybe I just can't do agave nectar. I've read about studies which have shown that it's actually worse for you than HFCS. Also here's a little anecdote concerning me and agave nectar that I posted on another forum: "I'd say that I read labels about 95% of the time. One of the 5% happened yesterday. I picked up some Nancy's…
  • I know I'm the type of person who has kept pen and paper food journals in the past. This makes it so much easier. I like lists, flow charts and the like. I'm pretty anal about most things so this fits right into my wheelhouse.
  • The best exercise I have is the exercise I do with my kids. So much more fun than doing it by myself. I'm also doing C25K but they don't seem too interested in the running. It'd be great if they did. We go biking, swimming, walking and play various sports. I also like to go with them to the park and climb all over the…
