  • That must have been tough to write, and possibly even harder to read depending on where you are with your life. Hopefully you are winning now.
  • Counterstrike is my dislike, realistically any "twitchy" PvP-only game is on my dislike list. I enjoy story and co-op challenges, not constantly dying and respawning.
  • I'm trying to drop 40-50kg (100lbs or so), this isn't my first time at it either :( I'll add one important thing that GiveMeCoffee left out, and that is, simply - DON'T GIVE UP. You CAN do it if you believe in yourself. You're going to have bad days or even weeks in there. When they happen, recognize them for what they…
  • Been to a few in Melbourne - Comicon, Supernova, PAX (I will be volunteering there again this year, come say hello). I haven't been doing cosplay but found many of the panels to be pretty interesting. I'm a giant nerd, so I fit in perfectly :)
  • Decided to take a fresh look at Neverwinter over the weekend. They've improved it quite a bit. Not bad.
  • I block out the bad music videos at the gym with Sabaton at high volume. Also in the shuffle is Nightwish, Eluvietie, Bad Religion, vintage Green Day, Within Temptation, AC/DC & Social Distortion.
  • I can't do it - I always play Good (even my Sith in SWTOR are hardline Light Side). I think this is because I GM so much that I'm used to being the evil overlord, so it's nice to play the shining paragon role for myself.
  • I missed Dune 2 in the mix of massively addicting games. That one was great!
  • I'm going to really show my age I reckon! First game to get me on a "console" was a Hanimex system with a light gun to shoot a square box moving on the TV screen. To date I've never owned another console. First games on a computer were on the C64. Many great titles I played over the years but I think the defining one was…
  • Still a number of bugs on the PC. The most recent patch allowed me to hand in a number quests in Redcliffe but still have a bugged quest in Fallow Mire that I may not ever be able to finish now. I also get a number of freezes in the game where I lose the ability to click on anything and have to crash it out. Someone said…
  • Yeah, me too, outer western suburbs
  • Some great stuff in some lists there already!!! Props to Mycophilia for Van Canto! Here are a few I never leave home without: Sabaton - Union Eluvietie - Inis Mona Nightwish - Last of the Wilds The Screaming Jets - Tunnel Bad Religion - Let It Burn Korpiklanni - Juodaan Viinaa AC/DC - Shoot to Thrill Greenday - Stuart &…

  • Not so much a BS tip but something I overheard between two people in a waiting room a couple of days ago: "Some people are just big, if you aren't losing weight on <insert fad diet/program> then it could just be you're meant to be overweight" I should add the person saying it wasn't exactly slim.
  • Only 10? No particular order here... Nightwish Sabaton Eluvietie Counting Crows John Fogerty TMBG Paul Kelly Mike Oldfield Bad Religion Queen
  • Damn fine work mate!
  • Yes. I love my D&D!!! Started in about 1984 before I was a teenager with the red Basic set. Learned to DM early too. Played all 5 box sets (yes, even Immortals), 1st Ed AD&D, 2nd ed, didn't like 3rd, 3.5, HATED 4th (aka Dungeons of Warcraft), and been in the playtest since it was publc. Currently running a fortnightly…
  • I've tried a bunch of stuff I didn't like (pretty much anything green, flame away if you want) but the worst was Swedish "surströmming" or fermented pickled herring. Just couldn't get past the smell to actually try it. When they look at the swollen tin and say "oh ya, this one will be really good"... no... just no. Sorry…
  • Fencing probably (my mate Dunc does kendo and logs it as fencing), but given the... relaxed... nature of LARP combat, only count the actual minutes of combat and halve the result.

  • General nerd - video games, RPGs, wargames/miniature painter - and a computer geek by trade.
  • There are a few of us miniature enthusiasts here. Here's one of mine: Feel free to add me as a friend
  • I do. I have a '99 Yamaha Road Star XV1600A.
  • If it were higher then I'd expect it to snap properly. I can't find an exact listing, but from what I understand from the various experts (chocolatiers, chefs, etc) there isn't a lot in there. I also acknowledge that the recipe for it will vary by locality (you can taste the difference between Cadbury bars made in the UK…
  • Why not? It contains products of the cacao bean (cocoa butter) just like any other decent chocolate, just no cocoa solids. I don't subscribe to that argument. I also reject the notion of "milk" and "dark" chocolate as many people refer to it - based on percentage of cocoa solids! My favourite chocolatier makes a bar that…
  • Thinking the same thing - hit my target and hold it for 3-6 months, get some ink done. Reminder of where I came from and how I got here.
  • Given - Michael Jacksons "Thriller" on vinyl With my own money - Mike Oldfields "Tubular Bells II" on cassette. as a point of trivia, the first CD I bought was the same as the first cassette. The first DVD I ever bought was also the same...
  • Wargamer, miniature painter, roleplayer, GM/DM/Storyteller in over a dozen systems including LARP/Freeforms, built a homegrown campaign world that's been a work in progress for 20 years, MMO player, SFF fan... I have no INNER nerd, I am ALL nerd! :)
  • Thank you for sharing your story and reminding those of us facing rough times not to give up and to be positive. Good on you!
  • Vegetable soup, which can be then turned into minestrone if you want to add beans, pasta and bit of pancetta. Works for me, and I have vegetable issues too.
