  • Have you tried wearing a coat? Seriously I've been cycling in to work all winter and it's fine. If you're cold then you aren't peddling fast enough
  • Cycling is great. Get yourself out on a nice long bike ride on your day off. Local councils are really keen to encourage it and mine sent me some free maps of local cycle paths. Also if you're in the UK check out betterbybike. It's great for finding the best cycle route to somewhere. I've been cycling at least 80 miles a…
  • Not as bad as what a lot of you guys have suffered but a couple of examples stick in my mind. Growing up I was always fat and my sister was super skinny. My brothers called us Bones and Belly. I guess it was just mean big brothers being mean. Also I after I gained loads of weight I found out that a guy at work often…
  • If I could go out running without shoes I would. I can't because of the broken glass and stuff. It is much more natural and good for strengthening your feet and joints (it's important to build up slow) rather than relying on trainers for cushioning. I saw a man running barefoot in the park last week. There are studies to…
  • I stayed the same this week. Only 1/2lb in the last 3 weeks. I'm not overly worried but it's a bit frustrating. :ohwell:
  • Lots of people hate it to start with. You have to make yourself do it and soon enough it will be part of your life and you'll start to like it. If someone had said to me 3 years ago that I'd be a runner I wouldn't have ever believed it.
  • I'm in the UK so not watching the game :) I've been out for a run and about to use some of those calories I've burnt. I'll probably go to the pub for a bit later with the other half, cook a nice roast dinner then have an early night. Have to be up early for work tomorrow.
  • Morning! Well afternoon now. How's the green tea working out for you? I tried it but it tastes too horrible for me to keep drinking. I'm doing good today. Just got back from an 11 mile run and it was the fastest I've managed in quite a long time. I'm going to use some of the 1200 calories burned on a bacon sandwich
  • I lost 0.5lbs this week. Slow and steady is fine with me
  • Hi, Good to see so many people still with us :) So a bit more about me, I lost over 50lbs a couple of years ago and became addicted to running and am currently training for my 6th half marathon which is in March. I've put 20ish lbs back on over the last couple of years and my main motivation to lose it again is to get…
  • Sometimes I take soup but mostly I just take a sandwich, an apple, a satsuma and a banana. I'll eat the sandwich for lunch and snack on the fruit throughout the day. I like nice wholemeal, seeded bread with some kind of protein filling to stop me getting hungry.
  • When I started I always ran on the treadmill then started outside after I'd been running for about 4-5 months. I find that outside I run faster and enjoy it a lot more so would never go back to the treadmill now. Especially as now I sometimes run for 2 hours and would die from boredom on a treadmill!
  • Added. I'd like more friends to. I think it helps if there are people there to give you encouragement.
  • Week 1 of the challenge and I stayed the same weight. I had a very heavy weekend last weekend with a couple of different social events. I'll do better this week :)
  • Hey guys, Hope you're all well. First weigh in of the challenge tomorrow and I'm not optimstic unfortunately. I had a seriously heavy weekend so I've been playing catch up all week. I'll be good from now on I promise. If any of you would like to add me as a friend so that you can give me a nudge of I fall off the radar it…
  • Start weight is 154lbs. Goal by summer is to lose 21lbs which will put me at my goal weight. It's definitely going to be hard. I think once I hit aboiut 140 it will be slooooooow going.
  • I take branflakes and yoghurt to work with me and eat breakfast at my desk.
  • I'd rather not tease myself with a little slither of something high fat because it wouldn't satisfy me and I'd just want more. I'd rather not have it at all or have a decent amount of it when I decide to allow myself a treat day.
  • Some of the days you are only eating 2 meals. Don't you have milk on your cereal? Nuts are high in calories but healthy if you are looking to boost how much you've had. I struggle to understand when I hear people say they can't to eat all their calories. None of us would be here if we didn't like to eat! Personally I could…
  • I would say maybe 18 months? You want to take it slow and steady. It's not a race but a permanent lifestyle change so it's ok if it takes a little while.
  • Being chipper is a really good trait to have. Physically my best characteristic is my legs. I do a lot of running and cycling so they are strong and toned.
  • Hi Guys, I've really enjoyed reading all your stories and look forward to hearing about your weight loss success. My name's Emma and I'm 30 and live in the UK. I lost 56lbs in 2008 following WW but over the last couple of years I've put about 25lbs back on. After I lost the weight I felt super confident and managed to bag…
  • Too true Sharon. It's nice to be able to eat satsumas in odd numbers. On weight watchers satsumas are 0.5 points for 1 or for 2. Why would you ever eat only 1 when 2 is the same points? Counting calories encourages a more common sense approach.
  • I've done both and found that it makes no difference. They're just different ways of helping you to eat less. It's difficult to get out of the weight watchers mindset once you've done it. I keep having to remind myself to record vegetables which I didn't do on WW as they are 'free'.
  • You'll lose weight if you stick to your calories however you spend them. It's better to eat healthy food as, as well as containing more nutrients, you can eat more of it so you'll feel fuller and be less likely to cheat.
  • Hi, I did a similar program when I started running and found it easiest to measure time. Run for 2 minutes, walk for 2 minutes etc. Go to a running shop and get fitted with some proper shoes and take it slow and your knee should be ok.
