  • Have you seen Windsor Pilates? You can watch the beginner video on Youtube. It's a very slow pace and Mari does a great job of explaining what you should be doing. You can also look into restorative yoga on Youtube. It will help you get the feel for the very beginner poses.
  • It's probably water weight. It's normal to have weight fluctuations. It sounds like you're very active. Consider increasing your calorie allowance.
  • I don’t have fibro but I do have CFS/ME. I used to love to lift weights but I can’t do it anymore. I can walk and do yoga. You might start with restorative yoga and some easy walking. I’m sure you know all about how discouraging a flare up can be so take it easy at first and figure out what your limits are. Gently push…
  • I understand what you’re saying. So many of us turn to food for comfort. It’s a huge challenge to change this way of thinking when you’re in the moment and you have to tell yourself that the cake will only make you feel better temporarily and that you’ll regret it later. We want comfort now! But it can be done. We can…
  • To be honest if I'm under A LOT of stress it's very hard to stay on track. My mind is too preoccupied with stress and anxiety to focus on weight loss. My head has to be in the weight loss game to be successful. That's my honest answer to say, yes, I've experienced that. I'm sorry you're under a lot of stress right now. I…
  • I'm sorry to hear that you're going through so much right now. I really like your username and I hope you take it to heart and feel empowered to make the necessary changes to get yourself on the road to better health. If looking at the big picture is overwhelming, just take things one week or even one day at a time. I hear…
  • I understand the feeling of knowing you need to get back on track but you just can’t seem to make yourself do it. What changed? Did you have pms or was your calorie deficit too big?
  • It sounds to me like the mental health issues are the first order of business. Drinking is a way for many people with mental health issues to cope. Are you seeing a doctor? Do you have a course of treatment that you're following? I agree that trying an AA meeting is a great idea for you. You WILL find someone there who can…
  • It is possible to keep losing but keep in mind that your body needs rest and fuel to recover right now. I'd focus on nutrition instead of weight loss. Drink plenty of water in case you're confusing hunger and thirst. Can anyone help you with cooking or do you have healthy delivery options? I understand it's hard to sleep…
  • That sounds fun! I'm so glad you posted about this. I've never heard of a weighted hoop but I'm going to look for one. Thanks!
  • I agree that it depends where you're starting from. Plus size clothes are made roomier so you can wear them in a bigger weight range. I've lost 8 lbs and my size 16/XL clothes still fit but they fit much better. If memory serves I'll have to lose about 10 lbs before I can get into my size 14 clothes. I carry most of my…
  • As you get smaller your daily caloric needs also get smaller. You won't have as big of a calorie deficit so you won't lose as quickly. Many people lose weight faster at the beginning. Everyone's weight loss slows as they get closer to their goal. A 1-2lb loss per week is great!
  • A vacation is a good motivator! It's one of mine too.
  • Awesome! Just keep going. You'll keep feeling better and better as you lose more weight provided that you're not crash dieting. Hang in there!
  • When I started thinking about planning our next Disney trip and remembered how tired I felt and how much my feet hurt during our last trip. Also, seeing the pictures from the trip was a big motivator. Another reason is that I live in an area with a long, hot summer. I should have a closet full of fun, cute, summery clothes…
  • Cutting back in processed and high sugar foods helps me have less cravings. I feel that those foods cause rebound hunger for me and I want more more more. Which isn’t to say I don’t eat them at all. Just a lot less. You could either fit in a little daily treat or a bigger treat once or twice a week.
  • I'm 43 and would like to lose 20-30 lbs. It's slow going but I'll get there.

  • Planning your meals ahead of time will help you get to your calorie goal. Also, at the end of the day a spoon and a jar of peanut butter works. Or Nutella. Or a couple of pieces of chocolate. You should also consider eating some of your exercise calories. Maybe 50%?
  • Slim Fast was a quick way to get low blood sugar for me. Meal replacements work for some people because they don't have to do any cooking, planning, or calorie counting. Personally, I'd rather eat real food but an occasional protein bar is helpful. I would never do Slim Fast again but maybe it will work for you.
  • So just to be clear you've been working out for four months but trying to lose weight for two weeks. Is that right? If that is the case you just need to give it more time. It's not a plateau if you've only been at it for two weeks. Weight all of your food. Guessing at calorie counts and measuring by volume isn't accurate.…
  • I have taken it. I was able to stretch a one month supply by taking it every other day. It worked wonders for me. I wasn't hungry and it gave me super energy to work out. But as lulalacroix said gaining the weight back is a problem. Once you get your appetite back you're in the same boat as everyone else. Maintenance is…
  • Two more pounds and I'll go to my favorite salon for a haircut. Also, fitting into clothes that I haven't worn in quite a while.
  • Acceptance is the key. That and stop feeling sorry for yourself because you can't have what you want. Wouldn't we all like to eat whatever we want and as much as we want? What do I do when I have to limit my food? I don't look at my husband's plate for comparison. By the time my food is on my plate I've already counted my…
  • A cheat meal can mean different things to different people. Personally, I love a cheat meal. A reasonable cheat meal. If I got out to eat I will eat 1/3 or half of the meal and have a drink. Or I will increase my calories a little for a day and include dessert. It shouldn't mean you go hog wild and stuff yourself. Some…
  • The problem is that low calorie/low fat foods won't keep you from feeling like you're starving. You need a good amount of protein and fat to keep you going. Also, I agree that 1400 calories may not be enough for you. It doesn't matter what you eat if it's not enough fuel for your body. You'll end up hungry and then it'll…
  • I'm sorry. It sounds like you're going through such a hard time right now. I agree with getting out for a walk. Not for exercise - just to think, get some sunshine, and endorphins. And if you feel like lying in bed it's OK. You're entitled. Just not too long. Get together with a friend or family member that will give you…
  • ^^^ Yes, and Lindt Lindor Truffles.
  • Definitely include treats if you want them. Don't deprive yourself. Just make it work with your calorie goal and you'll be much happier.
  • Asking if you can gain actual fat while in a calorie deficit is like asking if a one cup measuring cup will spill over if you fill it with 3/4 cup. Often times women will put on one, two, or even more pounds during PMS. You could eat a pickle and gain two pounds of water weight. Are you weighing all of your food? Do you…
