Make sure it isn't something else too. I ignored my very heavy periods for a while because i was like "eh, PCOS" but my dr just told me I have fibroids (AAAHHHHHH)

*nod* I think I will be doctor shopping soon, just in the middle of a few other health crises *sigh* so I want to get those straightened out first. Well so far so good; I got a blood sugar monitor and my morning blood sugar levels have been slowly dropping and I've lost two pounds of the recent sudden five pound gain I had…

There's been studies on low carb and PCOS that were basically inconclusive, but I don't think they separated IR and non IR PCOS. It probably has more to do with how well you tolerate carbs due to your insulin levels than anything else. The irony about carbs is that back when I was young they told us all to switch to a…

Eh, I don't know how you all find such good doctors, I have such terrible luck with mine - once I had one who sent me to physical therapy for ovarian cyst pain because she didn't believe me (!!!!) Well at least I am not alone...

To clarify - It comes off again during/after (oh god)

I did actually do laser hair removal on my face a few years ago - I found it to be well worth it because it stayed gone for a few years. Nothing else works effectively to get rid of the hair. But it all grew back after a few years and I need to save up money to get it done again. - Once the hair grows, no amount of losing…

I'm in new orleans and this is crazy week right now lol

You aren't madly in love with her if you expect her to change to meet your expectations. Love means you accept a person just the way they are. You insult her and judge her to strangers here - that isn't very loving. If I found out a partner did this behind my back I would dump them in a heartbeat. Her "lifestyle" isn't…

29 is older? Wait till you're 40, lol

Yup yup - low calorie diet, exercising, no results, people (including doctors!) insisting I must be lying and that "calories in calories out always works" - very familiar. You can lose weight with PCOS but you have to trick your system into it somehow.
-
I do, but - and this is hard to talk about - I have plenty of emotional trauma in my life that makes it perfectly plausible. So if PCOS is even complicating that, it would be hard for me to say. :(

Well first of all know you aren't alone; and progress is possible, but you will have to work harder for it. Everyone is individual, but a lot of women with PCOS have better luck by limiting their carbohydrate and sugar intake; you might find that after an initial adjustment that helps with your energy levels as well. You…

I don't think I've been tested for b12. I know I have a severe vitamin D deficiency - I'm not sure if it predates or post dates me taking topomax (I take it for severe intractable migraine) which can suck the calcium and D out of your system. My mother had mentioned once she used to need b12 shots when she was young. But I…

It's doable - but is it a good goal? Weight that is lost quickly is likely to be regained quickly. I understand the appeal of magic numbers, but what is your end goal - better looks, better health? Both of these will be better served by a more reasonable plan.

I was able to for 6 months, but he was often very fussy (maybe it was just him) and nothing they told me about nursing happened - I didn't lose weight despite watching my intake, my cycles didn't stop - not even once! In fact they seemed worse! It was very disappointing. Finally I couldn't keep up with his needs. Six…

Sounds like PCOS or something similar to me. I have no advice on the medical front though. Syndromes are weird things. You can have some but not all of the symptoms. Someone else can have the complete other half and you both have the same syndrome.

Also this :)

Oh the anger is real :D I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND I haven't been skinny since before puberty. Puberty ruined EVERYTHING. But do try to look at your overall long term trend and don't just give up!

Hi - I'm wondering how your nursing experience is going? I had a lot of difficulty nursing with my health and I wonder if it was related to PCOS.

I'm very interested in research they are doing on this condition even as I work to get my body back into balance - I find out more about my own physical quirks all the time, and I feel better than I did in my 20s now, in a funny way! One thing that is maybe related too - my brother last year developed a severe case of…

Oh I'm gonna learn chinese.

It isn't total BS - it's just a general guideline. A large population wide study actually found people slightly over their BMI "normal weight" category lived the longest, and the pro-obesity people went wild with that - but they ignored the "slightly over" part of the study. We're talking five pounds over, not 50 or 100.…

Well what is your goal, less carbs in general, or simply fewer calories? I've cut out bread and while it seems counterintuitive (as bread isn't high calorie itself), I find that eating bread just makes me hungrier due to insulin resistance issues that I have. So if you are cutting down on bread, don't replace it with rice…

Nothing.

Go to a doctor. And if they won't take you seriously, go to another one. Don't listen to the people on this board, they will tell you that you're lying or worse. My suspicion from the little bit of info you've given here is that you have a metabolism disorder like PCOS - likely triggered by the ED and worsened by veganism.

I thought it had possibilities when I first heard of it. After all, bullying, shaming behavior is not only uncivilized, but unlikely to lead to anyone doing anything to improve their health. Fat activists (as they like to call themselves) do some things that are good, such as working for better clothing options for larger…

This is completely normal kid behavior. It has nothing to do with you.

This is why I disregard everyone's advice on here to "eat back your exercise calories!" If I did that according to what the site claims I burn when exercising - which I think is hilariously high - I'd gain weight instead of losing.
