  • Congrats!! I'm 5 weeks post op. Walking is the absolute best thing. Make sure you are sipping on fluids all day, you don't want to get dehydrated.
  • I agree you might want to check the batteries on your scale to see if that works or weigh somewhere else. Mine gives crazy readings when it needs batteries. Onderland is a challenge. I finally made it to 199.4 and holding. I'm only 4 weeks post op from my lap band though so now it's time to bring on some excercise.
  • All of the above suggestions are all really great. One thing I did was buy baby plates with the three sections. A saucer will work but i thought the 3 sections were good especially when you are on pureed foods so things don't run together. Also when you are weighing and measuring. I got a digital scale, and one mind trick…
  • Good luck to you. I was just banded on July 15th and still adjusting myself. I just moved from all liquid to mushy. At least food has taste now!! This is a great forum, very supportive. Keep us posted on your progress.
  • Good luck!!
  • One of the hardest things I had to realize in my 22 years of marriage was to learn to take care of myself. Even though it is not in our nature we have to let our husbands and older children take some of the responsibility of taking care of themselves. You need to focus on yourself and your baby right now. I have a husband,…

  • That's good advice. I think I am finally starting to wrap my head around this. I have basically put myself on an eating schedule pretty much like you would do a newborn. I am dealing with the in between meal hunger with water. Also I am crocheting a blanket for my daughter so I picked that up today, and have started doing…
  • Thanks for all the advice. I think I was just having a really bad day. I have increased my water intake and that has helped. Adding in the protein shakes helped too. I'm having three a day which has really made a big difference. I just didn't want to feel like I needed to eat several times a day every day. I know 3 meals…
  • Sounds like you need to talk to your bari psychologist. If you can't take the time off work see if he can counsel you over the phone. You don't want to head down the depression road, that's a hard one to get off of. I hope things are better soon.
  • I'm so glad to hear you are doing well. This part will pass quickly. I am sleeping with lots of pillows to be propped up.
  • Hello there, i am in the liver shink phase also. i am scheduled for lap band surgery on Monday. It does go fast. I have had a few weak moments but my dietician said i could have a small piece of fruit or some salad greens with a tsp of dressing. I have had to do that but for the most part i really have not been hungry.…
  • I'm having the lap band. I have a vitamin D deficiency also and have an rx for that. They are gel caps that are pretty small and I have also been taking iron. I guess I can just crush those. I'll check walmart then. They also prescribed nexium to reduce stomach acid so I have to pick that up also. I have been told to go…
  • 2 slim fasts a day and a lean cuisine or something like that for dinner. I had an appt with the dietician the other day who said you can have a small piece of fruit, or a green salad with 1 tsp of dressing if you still felt hungry. I have had to that, especially at lunch time.
  • Totally agree, there is no cookie cutter answer. You use what the dr says as a guideline but you have to do what works for your body. I am on the 2 week pre op diet which per my dr is 2 slim fasts a day or two high pretien, low sugar drinks, carnation instant breakfast or something like that and lean cuisine or an…
  • Of course your fears are rational, but the best thing to do is research, research, research. I have tried to read everything i can get my hand on so i am going into this thing with my eyes wide open. I started on this journey in January and my surgery is scheduled for 7/15. I am on day 2 of the liquid diet and so far it…
  • I hope all went well today!!
  • I thought I was the only one who did this. I weigh in the morning and again at night before i go to bed. I wouldn't take a scale with me but if you happen to see one while you are out I would use it. You will not be able to eat a lot so I think you would be ok for a few days.
  • They haven't set a calorie goal yet, I just keep reading about the 1200. I find it hard to get that in now. I'm only 5 foot 1, so I'm thinking my calorie goal should definitely be less.
  • Thanks for all the encouraging words. I will keep everyone posted.
  • Awesome!!:flowerforyou:
  • They did say I could skip the lean cuisine but strictly stick to portions at dinner. So that's a good thing. I can do the 2 slim fasts. In fact I have started on them some already to try to get used to it.
  • The lean cuisine was my concern also. I try not to eat processed foods and those things are packed with salt. I don't need that because I have fluid retention issues. I was thinking protein shakes but I was not sure if you could use those as meal replacement. I suspect my surgery date will be some time early next month so…
  • Wow good luck to you. I was just notified yesterday that my insurance approval had gone through. I was scheduled for 6/28 then told they didn't have a bed so I'm waiting for a call back. It has been a long six months of prep but I'm ready!!
  • I will be getting a lap band in about the next month and would love input from others who have it as well. I have purchased a juicer thinking ahead and am looking for some good juice recipes. What types of foods are you pureeing, and how are you incorporating the protein?
  • Hello there, I'm preparing for lap band surgery and the NP at my dr's office actually told me about this site. From what I understand dumping syndrome happens when you take in too much sugar, or even chips but I think the risk of that is highest in the first year post op. Getting in 1200 cal will be a challenge, but I have…
  • I was excited to see a Roanoke group but it doesn't look like there are any recent posts. I'm new to mfp and looking for friends to give and get support.
