Yoga! It helps your mind connect to your body (and will help of course in other ways too - i.e strengthening). You will feel beautiful after each session - promise! You can use online or videos but I would suggest joining a studio/class if you can. There is something about being with others in the experience - the room is…

I think I have enough healthy fat in my diet. Pounding the water but oddly I don't feel hydrated really so I will drink drink drink and try moisturizing the skin. It's really terribly itchy - especially at night. Re: insomnia - also extremely annoying. Yes, I slept great when I loaded on the carbs before bed - lol. Oh…

Well disease needs to be better defined as well doesn't it? But certain individuals are susceptible to developing diabetes - a "disease" affecting the way the body manages blood sugar. Others are vulnerable to developing cancer - a "disease" causing normal cells to replicate without "control." I hear what you are saying in…

Okay, okay so starvation mode is a myth. Calories out > than calories in will result in weight loss. Some slowing of the metabolism will happen if the deficit is large enough for long enough. Maybe OP wants to know how large a deficit can he maintain without adverse effects on his metabolism? I'd like to know that too.

Camo, I actually agree with your last two statements!

I have struggled with exactly the same issue. "Binge Eating Disorder" is very real and very difficult. I attended a week long seminar and learned something very powerful listed below. But first all the above suggestions are good ones. At the seminar they actually encouraged us to let go of 'good food" and "bad food." Food…

Of course that depends on the definition of addiction in general. Sex addiction, gambling as noted in the article.. The word itself is in need of more defining criteria. That being said, research does suggest that certain individuals, are more vulnerable to the effects of the hyper stimulation of dopamine ("feel good")…

From one senior to another-- thanks!!! I'll try Glucosamine/chondoitin MSM. I used to take fish oil-- need to start again! Appreciate your help!

I hope some people respond to your question. I am wondering something similar. Have been an impatient yo yo for years and the only thing that "works" is very low carb for me. Unfortunately, it "works" to get the weight off but when I slide-- for whatever reason-- I go right back and up and over. Been that way for years...…

This thread should live on forever! I've gained and lost many times over the years and the jiggle happened every time I lost. In fact, that was one reason I put off taking the plunge again. Because I knew there would be this uncomfortable phase. It just feels and looks worse-- even though its better! Oh well-- onward we go!

I live this every day. My pattern for the last 20 years has been binge restrict binge restrict. It's how I lived. By age 30, restriction no longer worked to get the weight off. So I went to fad dieting. Which lead to more binging. Had a glimmer of hope in my 40's but my "lifestyle changes" still ultimately lead to pretty…

I do. The first week I felt and looked just a bit thinner but then things started to shift. So my abdomen was full all over and now it seems that some of my top weight has shifted to the lower belly. And instead of being full it's now more flab. Also, working out makes me feel bulkier. I know they say you can't bulk up but…

This is a real disorder. It's called Binge Eating Disorder and it is recognized in the world of psychology. So there are counselors and/or medications that could help. It's not unusual to hear of people who use food as an actual drug. It does the same thing as a drug-- in the brain by releasing those feel good…

Thanks everyone! You've inspired me!

Yes, give yourself some time. The mind and body are connected and both need time to heal. I would do what some others have suggested. Just log. Don't worry about what you you are eating in terms of amount or quality. Just log it. That act alone will reward you in all sorts of ways. And oddly enough you may want to treat…
