  • I find that MFP plus eating back exercise cals has been spot on for me. Then again, my 'true' TDEE may well be higher but I probably underestimate the portions that I consume and put into MFP too, so they at least cancel out to spot on, which is good enough for me!
  • Weight/BF percentage issues aside, I'm going to argue with one poster who claimed it's "not normal" to want part of your body gone. So far, I am a very successful adult, I'll be 30 soon, and I have wished that someone would spay me like a dog or cat for my entire life. I have no intent of reproducing and find all the…
  • I've been getting back into running in the past month or so, and man, but this problem has been hitting me hard. Luckily for me, I have a 1.5mi loop I run that has a portapotty on one corner... so far I've had to stop and make a visit every time I run anything over 4 miles! I have never previously had this issue and am…
  • This thread is brilliant. I have a couple boxes of Starbucks Via (instant coffee powder) sitting around that I've been ignoring since I usually just go with the K-cups. But mixing them with the protein cold or warm (not hot, thank you!) will be an amazing bonus since I am 100% on the coffee every day, but iffy on the the…
  • I am a bad patient. I have reflux, and have had it since childhood, though wasn't diagnosed until college. I've been given than list and thrown it away more times than I can count. It's more a list of 'foods that might or might not cause problems depending on your own particular body.' The only things, that for me, have…

  • I don't think the chocolate milk thing is being pushed by the dairy industry exclusively. It actually does have a nice mix of carbs, fats, and protein. I am sure they're keen to get behind the idea, certainly, but then again, so am I! Any excuse to drink more chocolate milk is a good one by me. I love the stuff. I think…
  • I wound up going with ON over EAS- wanted a little more isolate than concentrate since I'm trying to stay close to the one I had and liked. Got two flavors, Milk Chocolate and French Vanilla. I figure those are both pretty classic and shouldn't be too awful even if I don't *like* them, per se. I also usually mix with milk,…
  • Good job on the workout- and now you've also gained a funny story that will get funnier (and far less embarrassing) in a very short period of time. Sounds like a great day all together! :)
  • Nah, I'm not at BAF, but some of my friends are. Kinda glad actually- so many bigwigs there that the rules are tight and the streets are narrow (and must be crossed at right angles in a crosswalk while wearing a PT belt, LOL!)
  • Optimum Nutrition has good reviews- I was wondering if the reality and the reviews matched up!
  • What about eating just a bit more on a daily basis rather than trying to stuff yourself on workout days? A extra bite or two or small snack daily would bring your weekly numbers up to a happy level, hopefully without making you uncomfortable.
  • I have the same goal. :) I would like to see them too- I swear they're there, just hidden.
  • Since I have been tracking, I've been much better, but even so I have days over by 1-2k. AND that is even despite not eating much early in the day because I KNEW I'd be going out to a BBQ or out to dinner and then drinks, etc. I can easily eat 4-5K over without half trying. Give me a movie night, pizza, buttered popcorn,…
  • It's not. If your doctor has said you're fit to exercise and you agree, you're as fit to exercise as anyone else probably is. As another poster said, the exercise you do today that really makes your heart race will be old hat and won't have the same cardio impact in a couple weeks if you keep it up. Now, otoh, my…
  • After actually tracking my food with MFP, I realized I was nowhere NEAR hitting my protein goals, even though I had thought I was doing pretty well. I cannot tolerate eating within an hour of my morning workout (I'll be nauseated all day) and don't have time for breakfast, so I'd regularly skip it all together. I don't…
  • Your weight now is fine (in my opinion)- no need to work on losing any. If you are concerned that you don't look like you want to, add in some strength training and start working at getting more fit and healthy. Muscle weighs more than fat, so while the darned scale may say the same it always does, you'll notice clothes…
  • When you're looking at it, your calorie goal for the day is at the far left. Then there is the calories you've eaten (minus) the calories you burned through exercise (equals) your net calories for the day. It's working right. :)
  • Well, I know my horse poops more than 50# a day (I have to pick it up), and my 80# dogs can fill a bag pretty well themselves (have to pick that up too), so I have no doubt that the fluctuations you're seeing are pretty reasonable. Not going to test it myself though. ;)
  • I am glad to see this question as I was wondering the same thing. I really believe that it's about 'averages' rather than specifics in any given 24 hour period, but have no proof. LOVE the spreadsheet idea! I just spent a half hour and put one together so all I have to do is put my calories in and it'll take care of all…
  • Anyone? I learned elsewhere that the high HR and recovery is 'Fartlek training' so maybe it's not actually bad?
  • Don't try to change what he eats- it's his body and his choice. That said, there has to be a middle ground if you're the one who does most of the cooking. My SO came to me the same way- couldn't cook and ate junk. Gradually I am rubbing off on him. The trick for us was options. I never make two completely different meals,…
  • Somehow that doesn't surprise me- bacon and other processed meats are typically high in salt and sugars as well. Unprocessed meats tend to avoid that issue. I would be far more interested in a study that looked at high fat as the only variable while avoiding the high sugar and nitrates that go along with most processed…
