  • I've tried them and they aren't bad if you are craving pasta. You do need to follow the directions and rinse and dry them well - then they have no flavor at all. They kind of absorb the flavor of what you serve them with. I had some with a little Alfredo sauce and chciken and it was good. I've also tried them in stir fry…
  • That is where I'm at this week! Had to stop taking a blood pressure med that was a diuretic plus got my period! Up five lbs :-(
  • Walking outside you are walking on a less even, flat surface and you engage your body more. I know jogging outside gets my heart rate going more than on the treadmill. All those constant adjustments to wind/terrain add up.
  • I use free weights and body weight exercises exclusively for strength training - you get a better workout! All I have is a yoga mat, 2 of dumbbell bars and plate weights purchased at a garage sale by my father in law years ago. Combining exercises to work upper and lower works for me; squats & bicep curls, lunges and…
  • I figure out what my average mph was - 60 X (time you ran/distance you ran) = mph and then just use that to log. So, for example I walk/jogged 1.98 miles in 30 minutes. 60 X (20/1.98) = 3.96mph I do a mixture of walking 4.0 miles (say 27 minutes) and the remainder the next-lower speed, but I'm obsessive about it that way…
  • I agree with the others, MFP does seem high. However one thing to watch out during the summer is getting your salt intake too low. I did that once, felt dizzy and sick and actually had to drink some salt water (yuck).
  • Good for you! At my heaviest I was 278 and now I'm down to 224. The trick with using MFP is to be totally honest and really measure what you eat. Feel free to friend me if you want mutual support!
  • That is a really great idea! Count me in!
  • For some people the only way to build themselves up is to put other people down. You can't control what they say to you, but you can control your reactions. Try something like laughing "Starving? Heck no, I'm getting healthy. Never felt better." That will mess them up because they want you to feel bad and guilty!
  • Part of it may be due to your blood glucose levels. If you aren't eating sugar or processed carbs then you're blood sugar isn't spiking/crashing and causing you to be hungry. Are you eating several smaller meals (more than 3) a day?
  • My husband chops it and then stir fries it quickly using just Pam just until it starts to brown slightly. Gets a wonderful nutty flavor. I also like cabbage salad: sliced cabbage, smoked salmon, and a simple vinagrette. Sometimes without the oil even (since the salmon is fatty).

  • A taco salad with grilled chicken, hold the cheese, olives, sour cream and guacamole. Eat with salsa for a dressing. This is my go-to meal when I go to a Mexican restaurant. Fajitas aren't bad if you skip the tortillas, sour cream, etc, and just eat the meat and veggies.
