I think the first pounds lost are the hardest to see. As you get closer to your goal and a weight considered a healthy BMI, you will probably be much happier with how you look.
-
You're joking, but that actually happens with me.
-
I have problems with yawning too much and not being able to breathe right also. Mine occurs in daily life and is made worse by exercising, and it is called hyperventilation syndrome, caused by anxiety/stress. You should look it up. Maybe you have this too? Maybe not, though.

Definitely. And also, for me, Landslide by Fleetwood Mac (and the Smashing Pumpkins version is a killer, too).

How in the world do y'all have such low pants sizes? I don't really mind having a high number---I wear size 12 at 5'3" and 147 lb, but I am just very surprised at all these women wearing size 6, 8 pants....my size 12 looks like it's here to stay as I head toward my goal of 140. (I'll see if I want to get to 135 and…

Yes, I have felt this way and I believe it is an illusion you must break. Stop looking at pictures of skinny girls for motivation! They are not any better looking than bigger women who are in shape. In fact, I cannot believe I used to think that way. When I hear "I will never look like a supermodel," to me, that is not a…

Oh my god, I'm so sorry. That's so cruel. You didn't deserve that. :'(

You're a very strong man and we're all very proud of you. I have a friend who I fear is anorexic, as he is 5'11" and 112 lb. And I have no clue how I could possibly help him.

Okay, I thought that's what you meant. That's a good productive thing, working on exams. But try to eat if you can. Oh my god, that's exactly what I said the other day, that I'm just an actor now in order to continue my life. Well, something is definitely wrong, don't second guess it. Anyone can tell just from reading your…

I'm 5'3," 148 lb. 39.5 30 40.5 I am a large framed hourglass. I want to get to 140 lb, then maybe 135 or even 130. I'll have to wait and see.

Do you mean that you attempted suicide around Christmas? Maybe you could tell all this that you wrote to your psychiatrist. Are you against taking medication? I 100% get it. I also feel like I am drowning. My mind has taken a horrible turn since about a month and a half ago and I struggle daily with depression, anxiety,…

He doesn't have to "look anorexic." If you ever see male anorexics, you will notice that they sometimes seem to look healthier because they still have some muscle left and naturally have less fat and more muscle. And this is not even to mention that someone can be overweight and be anorexic---it will just take time for you…

I have Asperger's and I'm having a hard time getting my life under control. And my nephew has "mild autism" and has a language delay. Your son sounds a lot like him. Just don't give up on him.

There's no way to know anything. Would an ant be able to comprehend that you were sitting next to his anthill and texting on a cell phone while also working on your term paper on evolution?
-
You're certainly not alone. I have Asperger's, social anxiety, OCD, depression, and probably other things (I suspect bipolar or borderline personality disorder.) I have fallen into a deep bout of darkness lately but I'm fighting it. Good luck to you.
-
If you get your mind right, you can do anything. I promise you. My life is very depressing and I didn't think I could do it, but I am. Each day. I have lost 30 lb, that's your entire ticker. I have only a little more to go. It's possible, that's all you need to know. And you can do it.

I'm 10 lb away from a healthy BMI (5'3" and 150 lb right now) and I have a question. How do you know when you are really healthy and can stop losing and start maintaining? I have a large frame and hourglass shape and it seems to me that after getting off ten more lb (which are coming off really slowly) then I won't have…

That's badass that you're 6'2. Keep it up. : )

I think this is happening because you are having a flare up of psychological symptoms. You MUST confront the psychological symptoms (depression, anxiety...?) if you are to fix these issues. Use coping strategies. Breathe, listen to music, exercise, laugh, do something you love. I could very well be wrong, but at least give…

F*** being normal.

I'm 5'4'' and I am a huge hourglass. That actually sounds pretty funny saying that. I am roughly a size 12 and weigh 150 lb. Sometimes the sizes bleed into the higher numbers.....14....and on into plus sizes. But I don't even have much more weigh to lose, and I have really been the same number size all through losing 30…

I'm not sure. I think that many times, it is labeled or classified as "food addiction," but many times it is just a maladaptive coping mechanism for dealing with life that turns into a downward spiral. Many "food addicts" likely have anxiety or depression (or other life and brain issues) and they use food to cope. What…

Oh my goodness, your profile. Please learn to love yourself more! :) The inside is what counts. But you can make the outside match what you want with time. So learn to like yourself now for non-physical attributes, so that when you reach goal weight, you'll already know your value. Yes, sounds like you could have some…

Thanks again, everyone. :)

Thank you guys so much. You're all very insightful. I've got a lot of thinking to do, but this is a great start.

From the way I see it, it's pretty much all genetics....where the fat is programmed to be stored, regardless of weight. The shape will always be there. But, of course you can get closer to it based on a certain things....for example, if you carry more abdominal fat, you can get some of that off and have a smaller waist,…
