Sounds like she's got the right idea- I want to party with her!

If sacred music is your gig, you can't get more uplifting than old fashioned southern gospel. It'll lift you out of your tennies. Check out some Mighty Clouds of Joy or Aretha Franklin's gospel albums.

True. The right tool for the job, I always say. TNP likes naughty jokes.

Terry Gilliam, formerly of Monty Python has some great movies that haven't gotten their due. Among them are "The Fisher King", "The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen", "12 Monkeys" and my favorite, "Time Bandits". ALL great flicks if you like something a little off-center.

Another great one is the fantasy flick "Stardust" with De Niro and Michelle Pfieffer, with a great cameo by Ricky Gervais. It's worth the price just to see De Niro as a gay pirate.... I think it would be a great movie for kids, but only if a gay pirate doesn't offend your sensibilities....

One of my favorites is a Russian movie called "The Concert". Funny, poignant, it really had all the elements of a great movie. There's also a Mexican movie called "Like Water for Chocolate" that's wonderful.

Yes, the first one had truly and profoundly poor special effects- it's just slightly pre-Star Wars, if I'm not mistaken. I apologize for this in advance, but it's really not a conscious choice, but impulsive behavior that demands I say........RELEASE THE KRÄKEN!!!! Thanks for posting.... Samiam

Why does that strike you as trolling? Am I the only person you've run into that wants to develop their shoulders?
-
I'm not quite sure how that would work in a t-shirt?
-
Thank you for your answer- I'm not sure why so many thought I was trolling? Am I the only one that wants to try to develop parts of my body that I find inadequate? Anyway, thanks for the suggestions- I do appreciate it. FWIW, I"m using "square shoulders" as a description- I understand one can't change one's basic…

Totally agree. I've thought about that one and the one at Wendy's, but I"m afraid I'd end up with a burger...LOL

Why are you concerned about keeping your carbs up? I'm just curious- I've been consciously trying to push my carbs and fat down and put more protein into my diet. I'm not married to this mix, so if there's a reason this isn't good I'm all ears. Thanks, Sam

Cool- thanks for the ideas. I've developed a taste for Boca Burgers, but I'm keeping a trip to Five Guys out as a carrot to encourage me to get to my next goal..... Thanks for posting!

I do that a lot- LOL!

This is war. I see it as two main battles, the first being the actual process of getting to a healthy weight, the second being maintaining that. Once you've gotten to a healthy weight range it's a lot easier to experiment, and you can be a little more flexible and forgiving of minor excesses. I don't like processed meals…

I don't know if they have them were you're at, but there are a number of fast food restaurants that are pretty low in calories. Pollo Tropical, El Pollo Loco, Taco Cabana and a number of other outlets offer rotisseried chicken, which is about as low fat as it gets. They all offer bowls as well, that you can have with any…

This has been a lifelong struggle for me (I"m 53) and my success is based on three things: 1.) MFP- they've tapped into the thing that makes men memorize baseball stats and women differentiate between thirty different high heels of essentially the same design. We love to categorize and classify. By keeping track and having…

Have you tried YouTube? I bet you could find any video or routine you wanted there.

I'm with you. I don't like contests of any kind. I would say this, though. Miss America 2003, Erika Harold, is in the headlines for her grace under pressure- pretty impressive individual, and she got her start as Miss America.…

I don't think she's as much skinny as rock hard toned. I prefer women just a little softer than that, but she strikes me as being all muscle. So some people are hating on the new Miss USA cause they say she is " too thin" personally i think she looks pretty good. Slim and toned! what do you guys think? And a friend of mine…

Thanks Ashley- just a play on words. Thanks for you support!

Personally I thought it was a load of crap. I'd have been far more open to the information if she had simply said, "If portioning isn't working for you, try this". Why can't they both be successful strategies you can pick based on your personal profile? She sealed the deal when she says, "As I wrote in my book". She's…

I think maybe a reposting of the definition of "Chit-Chat, Fun and Games" would be appropriate. Yes, obesity is a disease. Some of us need to get familiar with words like "morbid obesity", too. It's NOT Fun and Games. They call it a health crisis because it costs millions of people their lives, and many more millions their…

The essence of my problem is that there are damn few foods I don't flat out LOVE.

As a chef I never used veal or other such things, if for not moral at least practical reasons. Never seemed to have any real flavor profile to speak of. Something has to be really unique to justify legend status, and veal just doesn't do it. Much rather have the same dish with pork tenderloin.

Trying to learn to like fish. Blech. I'm okay with the billfish and less fishy, firmer fleshed fish, but I'd like to learn to appreciate a piece of salmon or bass without supressing a vurp.

Well, you could try Brocciflower..... ;)

One of the most brilliantly written and executed scenes in modern cinematic history, not to mention an acute insight into the eternal struggle between yin and yang. http://youtu.be/i8kpYm-6nuE
