I don’t think length of time is the issue. I think how much you weijgh to start with and how much you have to lose are the relevant factors. Cloths fitting looser is the first real sign of progress.

Fitbit for me and all of my online friends who had Jawbone have switched to fitbit

It is not a diet, it is a life style choice even after you reach your goal.

Agree with this reply

The best exercise for weight loss is something you like so you will continue doing it and not be miserable.

The problem with this issue is the question makes the assumption that we NEED the government deciding what we are ALLOWED to do. I do not smoke and nervier have but am capable of not doing business where they choose to have smoking.

As a disabled US Army Infantry Soldier of `12 years of service, I suffer from chronic pain from permanent disabilities in the service from some very bad incidents that occurred to virtually every part of my body, both feet, both knees, both shoulders, both elbows, both hands, upper back and neck among others. I do not take…

It is not at all rude. Keep up the good work and dedication.

For me, there are two options, #1 - continue to log forever and work hard to maintain once I am at my goal weight OR #2 - stop logging and soon I would be back where I started, more than 100 lbs. over weight and have to do this all over again,
-
I fully agree with this post.

You look fantastic AND beautiful

I was where you are now last June, 103 lbs. over weight. Today, I have lost 85 lbs. which leaves me having 18 lbs. to no longer be obese or over weight which was my first goal. I have had some tough physical issues arise to slow me down but I am back on track. I am already on your friends list so I wanted to say hi and…

Wow, you look fantastic. You look like a completely different person and I read in your story how happy you are now.
-
I honestly believe how fast you run or walk rather it is less important than the fact you are actually doing it and how long you run or walk. You are doing outstanding. I would say for increased progress you should consider farther and longer rather than faster.

You obviously don't recognize me and assume me to be someone else. I am one who is fully prepared to confront anyone IN PERSON. I have never had any face picture here. You are obviously clueless and the exact person my post was about.

COWARDS who are afraid to stand up to people face to face where they could easily get their A** kicked are capable of coming online and saying what they please as they hide behind the computer screen in their mommy's basement where they live.
-
Certainly you can. I have lost 84 lbs in a year and only have 20 to go. I too cannot run and even have much difficulty even walking with the disabilities I have in both I knees, ankles and feet among many others but I do what I can anyway.

Counting calories is not a requirement for anyone, feel free not to and those of us that log in our foods daily will not care.
-
If they say "it looks like you lost weight" "I simply say, yes a little (no matter how much I have lost at the time), thanks." When they ask "How did you do it?" I now make it simple to say, "Diet and exercise, there is no shortcut."
-
We have followed similar paths. I also started last summer and have lost 84 lbs. despite many health related (not to do with weight) setbacks. You look fantastic.

I cannot do any exercise other than walking and that is physically a challenge to say the least. I walk as much as I can and have lost 84 lbs but you MUST stick close tabs on logging everything you eat, not having the "cheat days" (aka by me as failure days). I also use a fitbit to monitor walking,

Definitely a YES

Honestly it is all about me. Being more healthy, looking better,

Even after 12 years in the US Army (Infantry) where hard physical activity is a necessity for the job, long distance runs from5 to 12 miles and long road marching (walking carrying a lot of weight) from 25 to 105 miles................ I always did it and never complained but always hated every second of it. Now, it is a…

I have developed some very serious health problems that have virtually cut out the one exercise I could do but when I was able to walk for exercise and I walked 10 plus miles a day, I would carry a backpack weighing equal to the amount of weight I had lost by at that point, adjusting it weekly. Carrying it reminded me just…

I am 84 lbs into my journey to my first goal which is to no longer be obese or overweight by losing 103 lbs. Once I am there I will, like you, see where I need to be. I am 6'0" and started at 287 lbs,I am now 204 headed to 184.

Male 55 here I have been here at MFP for a little over a year now. I have had some major struggles with exercise. I have many permanent physical disabilities that affect me exercising in any meaningful way. Walking is all I can do and I have a tough time with that. I do what I can and stay positive and take this each day,…

Wonderful news. I am so happy for you.
