  • TJ's jarred bruschetta is one of my absolute favorites. 25 calories for two tablespoons. I love to use it on sandwiches instead of other condiments. The sushi is good too if you want to splurge a little. I also love the spicy black bean dip. So good! Also, I read somewhere that TJ's has the best deal in terms of price and…
  • Agreed! I just made a great lentil soup this week in the crock pot (if you don't have a crock pot, get one) that fed me and my husband for at least 3 meals. It was delicious, low-calorie and super filling! Here's the recipe: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2012/12/lentil-minestrone-soup-recipe.html. You could make a batch…
  • Smithsonian, especially the History Museums. Your son will never forgive you if you don't go and from what I remember there are parts that are super kid friendly that your daughter will enjoy. Plus, free admission!
  • My husband and I have had the same problem (especially since he eats a lot!). I don't know where you currently shop, but going to Aldi's has seriously reduced our grocery bill. We buy greek yogurt, fresh chicken breasts, frozen ground turkey, sandwich thins, fiber bars, tuna, brown rice, frozen vegetables, and almost all…
  • Take me to Bali with you and I'll be your personal bartender the whole time :) :) :). Really!
  • Love, love, love plain Greek yogurt (Chobani 0%, for example) with blueberries and some Kashi toasted berry crunch cereal. And black coffee, of course.
  • Do you have a friend nearby who can accompany you on a walk/jog? Tell him/her everything, really let it out, cry, yell, whatever you need to do to release your anger and hurt feelings. If there's no one nearby whose available, maybe try writing a letter to this biotch doctor. I'm the sort of person who feels they need to…
  • Ok, first of all, it is a big change. Your body and mind will adjust eventually. If you're honestly feeling famished all day, be sure that your activity level and how much weight you want to lose each week is set to a good level for you. Be sure to eat lots of water, veggies, fiber, etc. It will get better!
  • Ok, I like mayo on sandwiches, but any sort of condiment on a prepackaged sandwich grosses me out. All I can imagine is soggy bread! I would say the same as others have recommended- ask the management if they can start making sandwiches without it, and include the little packets.
  • What great advice! Especially the part about 225 calories being 6% of a pound. That is a GREAT way to think of these things and to remember that each day is a different opportunity.
  • Do you have a smart phone? If so, be sure to get the MFP ap (of course) and try to find some other restaurant/menu aps. I have one called Restaurant Nutrition on my droid and I love it because I can search the database by restaurant and then by calorie content. For example I type in Taco Bell, put the calorie range between…
  • This is exactly what I do as well. I try to make sure I work out on days that I know I'll be going out for dinner, or have a special event, but no matter what I try to eat half of what's on my plate and never have any drinks with dinner.
  • Yeah, wow. I saw that episode on tv and it was crazy. I get picky eaters, but that is ridiculous. I guess I just hope that if there are people out there with severely dangerous diets they will see this show and get the help they need.
  • I'm between 5'6" and 5'7" and I currently weigh 161 and wear a size 10 jeans, but smaller dresses. I'd like to get down to 150. At that point I'll reevaluate and maybe try to hit 145. I guess I'd like to wear a size 8 or 6.
  • Thank you! I really needed that laugh.
  • I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's stroke. I can only imagine how difficult life must be for her. Remind her that by going to the gym and doing the exercises that she can she is already ahead of so many people who have more able bodies. Seriously inspirational. What about a recline bicycle? Is she getting physical…
  • This recipe is AWESOME! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/239778-chocolate-peanut-butter-pie-130-cals?page=1#posts-3166242 My family loved it. We found that warming them up a little was more delicious than eating them frozen.
  • You can totally see it in your face! Way to go!!
  • Sometimes it takes awhile for your body to readjust to the lack of hormones. When I went off of birth control pills it took me nearly two months to menstruate again. At first I was terrified that I was pregnant, but once I found out I wasn't I just enjoyed the break! Then it took even longer for my cycle to become regular…
  • My mother-in-law makes absolutely amazing marinated pork kabobs. I don't have her exact recipe, but it's pretty similar to this: http://everydayrussian.com/?p=50. This is only for the meat, but you could easily throw on some bell peppers, onion, potatoes. YUM! I love roasted potatoes on kabobs like this because I get the…
  • I know! So stupid. Here I am, getting married to a man I love to pieces and all I can focus on is about 3 square inches of normal fat and skin that doesn't look the most flattering. Ugh. I'm thinking of maybe taping a little piece of paper over each spot until I am no longer in front of mirrors. Pull 'em off for the…
  • I don't know! But I know I do this too. We criticize parts of our body and then beat ourselves up because we don't have high self-esteem (whatever that means), self confidence or that we can't see our own "inner beauty." It's such a vicious cycle. I have nothing to offer except to commiserate. I had a similar moment this…
  • If I'm looking for a little bit bigger snack (around 200 calories) I ADORE a toasted bagel thin with a Chipotle Laughing Cow wedge and a slice of deli turkey breast or a big slice of tomato. Delicious, fast, filling and under 200 calories.
  • Hmm, I've had it for about a year and a half and I gained a little weight in that time period (maybe 10 pounds) but I think a lot of that was due to a desk job, a fiance who is way too much fun and bad eating habits. I've lost weight recently, but this is the first time I've actively tried to lose weight, so I have no idea…
  • That's ridiculous. I'm glad you found another option. The gym I go to (also in a small town) doesn't have a/c, but a ton of fans and good ventilation, so it's fine. As for encouraging people to work out outside- what the hell?!?! I honestly can't work out outside because I'm extremely pale and will get sunburned in about…
  • Something I've tried that helped when I had a desk job was to always have a glass of water in front of me. I've found that I will drink anything that's in front of me (tends to lead to other issues during happy hour, haha) so if a glass of water is right there, I will drink it! Also made me get up and fill the glass, so I…

  • First of all, you've done a fantastic job! You know this and that's the most important thing. Second, honestly, I think a lot of people are scared of change and they want to maintain the status quo in their lives. If you've lost weight and become healthier then it just reminds them that they should probably do the same.…
  • Would you just cook it on a pan that has an aluminum foil sheet? or wrap it in aluminum foil? [/quote] Either way works, but I like to wrap it in the foil and stick it on a pan. Clean up is super easy then too.

  • Completely agree, but add to cook it in aluminum foil or else it will stick to everything. It's awesome on the grill. I like to rub a little bit of oil oil on it, sprinkle it with Mrs. Dash's type seasoning and then add some fresh lemon juice. Fresh dill is amazing too.
