  • I wouldn't necessarily think it caused weight gain. I've been on it for years now, yes I've gained weight, but because of how I eat not because of a hormone injection once every 3 months. The pill I can understand because it's sugar coated, literally. I much prefer the jab to anything else since I don't have periods now.…
  • Would love to, but as it's NaNoWriMo during November, I'm afraid there are no promises. Lol
  • I like it plain, but I prefer it mixed with a bit of pesto and with sun dried tomatoes if I have any.
  • I think it's more along the line of getting you into a routine. They say it takes you 21 days to make something a habit. A lot of people don't incorporate squats into their workouts, so by trying this they will try it and possibly continue doing these even after the workout. Getting to 290 squats will show people what they…
  • First, I'd say relax, calm down and breathe. Re-evaluate what your average food intake is like and go from there. That's what I did, still am doing, and that's where it'll surprise you the most. Next, write a shopping list. When you're picking up food, look at see if there is a healthier version or not. Plan meals ahead of…
  • Gym 4-5 days a week. My main focus is cardio so I aim for 30 minutes a session at least. I do around 10-15 minutes on machines and lifting. I'm just starting out on weights and I don't want to push myself too hard just yet. I try to incorporate exercises that use my own body weight as resistance, such as crunches, reverse…
  • I do see your point but I'm still moving, still counts to me. I'll check the watts today but I don't know anything about them :P
  • I don't really like cycling lol. Totally personal thing and the only bikes we have at gym are the laid back kind. Don't feel like I'm anything other than stretching my legs. I don't have my own bike either, I get saddle sore easily. :P
  • Good point, I guess you can't really compare two different machines like that. Thank you.
  • I set my resistance up and do programs, usually gluteal or interval. I'm more bothered about distance as I'm doing the 50+ miles challenge this month, but that's a personal goal. I'd like to say I did 4 miles yesterday and 1 walking home. Unless someone tells me it is vastly different, then I'll log it as is. Thank you for…
  • Grunting is fine. I make faces and swear at myself sometimes lol. The only time I'm annoyed is when the guys are sounding like they're in labor or dropping a massive one. There is no need and frankly it's off putting. I've walked past a gym before that I considered joining and kept walking when I could hear, from outside,…
  • October 1st- 5 miles! Today I'm aiming for 6+
  • Sorry to also answer the last bit of your question, the only thing I look at is what flavour it is. My dad always bought it for me so I'm not too sure on what to get. I do prefer the whey protein compared to the soya, but that could just be a personal thing. I would also like to know if there is a big difference in protein…
  • Hiya! I used to have protein shakes all the time, post workout or in the morning. Since it's so expensive I buy cheap asda meal replacement powder (chocolate flavour of course). I use it in making smoothies, usually with organic peanut butter and a banana. I try to use almond milk but for a whole pint glass, that uses a…
  • In the same boat! CW- 168-172 lbs (it varies every day) GW- 120 (ideally) Height- 5'5''
  • I had the same thing happen years ago. I always imagined the bar was pretty light so when I tried lifting it, I couldn't! Instead, I prefer to use two separate dumb bells. Not only can I alternate, but I can lift heavier or lighter depending on what my plan is. I give you props for not leaving and planning on going back.…
  • My OH's mother has started this, she calls it 'going for a wobble'. She's now cancelled her gym membership to go stand on a vibrating plate for 10 mins at a time and is wondering why she hasn't lost weight lately. *facepalm* I see no harm in this except when you're expecting miraculous results and to burn 600+ calories in…
  • I'm in! I completely failed the September challenge for various reasons so I'm looking at 60+ miles for October.
  • Whatever you do, don't wear lacey knickers! made that mistake a few weeks ago and (TMI) it rubbed and made me sore for about a week. I often forget to pack certain gym clothes when I go to my OH's. Safe to say I just stick to plain women's briefs/shorts. I hate going commando as my trousers have a tendency to fall down a…
  • I can understand what you're saying and thank you for putting it a bit nicer. Yes it's the internet but I still prefer talking to people who talk to me, not at me. Am I getting too hung up on my form then? I have a tendency to arch my back and bend my head down if I'm not watching myself. Maybe I was hyped up on adrenaline…
  • Thank you, I'll have a look at getting my own weights at home. Also I 'm glad someone else stretches beforehand. Everyone's acting likes it the end of the world or something. I do a warm up first then static stretches after lifting for a cool down. That what I've been taught by my dad (PT) but if it's not for everyone then…
  • Sorry, I was editing and a lot of the quotes got cut out, but that's all quote before my reply. -_-'
  • There is no "proper place for lifters" unless we are talking about squatting, OHP, or bench in which case.. you squat in the squat rack- over head press in the squat rack or bench on the bench. seriously- you can pick up DB's and move them anywhere- I dead lift anywhere- we have like 8 benches- and 3 squat racks. I will…
  • Uh yeah! Sorry but standing in front of someone for a fecking long time like that is rude, not just in a gym but anywhere! Focusing on form is my main goal at the moment and with someone in the way it becomes difficult no? Why are mirrors there in the first place? Not so someone can stand in front of it all day deciding…
  • Once again, 'my thing' is my lifting time. The end of the rug/area was just behind me and the weights in front of me. There are only two proper places for lifters. In the middle and taking up most of the room is the bench press. Not my fault if my gym is set up like that.
  • So let me explain. My 'stretches' which consisted of aerobic type exercises and push ups were done in the stretching area, on the other side of the gym. 'Doing my thing' meant my actual lifting time. I merely meant he was getting in the way when I was trying to look in the mirror and focus on my form. It was downright rude…
  • Also let me say that I have normal thyroid levels so being off medication isn't to lose weight. The medication was making my levels go way down and made me fatter and more depressed. Levels are normal and I'm fine. Any sign of it coming back, since it can strike at any time, and I'll be in the doctors ASAP.
  • It may not seem like a problem but it is to me. I have hyperthyroidism, so I lose weight, however after being on medication for a year it all came back on. Yes my hair and nails were healthier but I wasn't. I'm off the medication now for a year but no weight changes. Yay it's in remission but I have a feeling it's…
  • I don't care about the stretching, it was just an example. I guess what I meant was they didn't do a warm up at all, such as cardio. And I don't do static stretches. I did sets of 10 push ups in between aerobic stretches, so moving from pose to another, based off Jillian Michaels' workouts. If it's not considered to be the…
  • That's because I'm not allowed to swear :P
