  • Thank you everyone! For those who asked, I'm 5'6. And my tattoos haven't been negatively impacted at all, although none of them are in areas where I lost an extreme amount (my waist for instance). As I've been losing I've had more done.
  • Thank you everyone :) I am 5'6.
  • Thanks! I am 5'6 :)
  • Thank you! My best friend is an artist and all around craftswoman, so I commissioned her to build a piece to fit on top of my current desk. I did the research on how to make it ergonomic, etc. It actually didn't take much, but I love it!
  • I counted calories for the first year of my journey. I lost about 65 pounds in that time. Around the year mark I decided to stop counting and instead focus on what I was eating, making good decisions and not worrying about the numeric value. I've continued to lose since then, so it is possible to stay on track. It's hard…
  • This has probably already been addressed in the last 9 pages, but Chrome has fixed this! Any tab that plays sound now has a little speaker icon it. So awesome.
  • I've lost 68 lbs and never been to a gym. I used the Jillian Michaels DVDs when I first started, but I've graduated to designing my own circuits and those are one part of what I do now. I also go walk/run at a track near my house, I bike on the weekends, and I play Zumba on my wii. And I do yoga. The equipment that I use…
  • If you have a wii or other game console you can use that to play - that's how I get my zumba fix :)
  • During the winter when I'm covered up, people are surprised to find out how many tattoos I have. They don't really match my personality...stereotypically. Otherwise, those people that already know I have a lot of tattoos are surprised to find out that I'm an avid knitter and cat lady.
  • I have most of my arms, back, chest, and one leg mostly covered, but fortunately my boss doesn't care if they show or not. I work for a software company as a trainer, but I train over the phone so clients never have to see me. Although I did a one-on-one session with a client last year and he didn't make any comments to me…
  • My highest was 249. When I started, I thought 165 sounded like a good number...it was much lower than any weight I'd been since I was a kid. As I lost weight and looked through hundreds of progress pics for people who were similar stats as me, I changed my goal weight to 149 for three reasons. One, I had researched and…
  • For a lot of people the face is where you lose weight first, or is most noticeable. I've lost 66 lbs and it's been a pretty drastic change for me...although losing 66 lbs has been drastic all over. As others said it will be different for everyone. But here's my comparison if you're interested:
  • I just recently joined pinterest, and I can totally understand how it would help curb cravings (or distract you until they go away lol). I do pin recipes but I mostly use it for workout ideas and motivation. Although my original goal was to pin outfits I want to get my hands on when I've lost the rest of the weight. I'm…
  • I've been having the same problem! I sort of feel overwhelmed with all my choices, while at the same time I'm finding a lot of the places where I thought I'd like to shop when I got smaller don't really have what I want. Charlotte Russe goes up to maybe 14. I've also had great luck at Kohl's so far, both for the right…
  • I bought my first pair of leggings at Charlotte Russe for $8 and I love them! I always wanted to wear leggings but didn't feel comfortable when I was bigger. But you're right, they are truly a staple, and so cute. Charlotte Russe is actually one of my favorite places to buy clothes in general now that I've lost weight.…
  • I've found I can eat pretty low at Chipotle and Panera. Some other restaurants that have surprised me with low cal options that actually sound good are Ruby Tuesdays, Smokey Bones and Red Lobster.
  • Thank you! TDEE stands for total daily energy expenditure - basically how much you burn in a given day given your activity level, height, weight, age etc. Some people, myself included, prefer to use TDEE-20% to get a total number of calories to shoot for rather than using MFP's suggestion. You can find TDEE calculators…
  • You are just so sweet to me BFP! I'm so happy we're making this journey together and you motivate and inspire me so much! I love you! :)
  • Thank you so much everyone, you're too kind! And thank you for the continuing support sfbaumgarten, azkadelia and zombiegirl - I love you guys!
  • Thank you! In regards to my tattoos, I've added several over the last year (including the one on my leg) but I've not had any issues with my existing tattoos becoming stretched or distorted or anything. I've been content with losing slowly, and fortunately it's not resulted in any loose skin or strange looking ink :)
  • SW: 249 CW: 183 GW: 149 26 yrs old 5'6 So far I've made it from a 42DD to a 38D. I have 34 more pounds to go but I'm still really hoping I'll lose some more weight there. Maybe...a 36C? I'd be in heaven! :)
  • This. Yeah, I lost 60 lbs but it's totally my haircut that makes me look different.
  • Congrats to everyone :) I started at 249 last March, I'm coming up on my year mark next week! I've lost 65 lbs in that time, and around 35 inches all over. 5'6, 26 yrs old. I've got 35 lbs to goal.
  • How many times a week do you workout? 4-7 What is your preferred workout style? Other (workout at home, typically using circuits I put together myself) Do you listen to music while working out? No (watch TV) What is your preferred workout genre? N/A Do you use a pedometer device? No Why do you workout? Overall health
  • I do. I find that I get myself into trouble if I don't plan things out. I try to stay just one day ahead though, I'll plan out tomorrow's meals tonight.
  • When I'm done with dinner, I'm done with eating for the day. I don't often get hungry after that anyway, but over the years I've found I sleep best when I haven't eaten for several hours. If I eat an hour to two hours before bed I tend to feel crappy. So for me, I do it because I physically feel better, not because it may…
  • I do 30 minutes, 5 days a week. I typically go about 30-45 minutes doing Zumba, or circuits Monday-Friday. I don't plan on working out on the weekends, but more often than not I end up walking or biking. I just don't like to assume it's going to happen. I've lost 62 lbs going about it like that, but it's the caloric…
  • Software trainer and technical writer.
  • I second this - I've considered getting one myself. This may not help since you're at a front desk and (I'm guessing) see people face to face, but I bought an exercise ball to use as a chair. I swap out my regular chair for the ball for a few hours a day and it keeps me moving. I also try to get up and walk around as much…
  • As of today I'm 61 lbs down, it took me a little over 10 months. I would say that you might want to give yourself more time, obviously we'd all love to be able to lose weight that fast, and sometimes people do. But it's more realistic that it will take you longer than 5-6 months. Also I weigh myself everyday too, everybody…
